SEGA® UNVEILS LATEST CHAPTER IN SONIC BOOM™ FRANCHISE
SET TO RELEASE THIS HOLIDAY

Sonic Races To Nintendo 3DS™ In Sonic Boom™: Fire & Ice; SEGA also Announces Upcoming New Sonic The Hedgehog App

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – June 9th, 2015 – SEGA® of America Inc. announced today that its iconic ‘blue blur,’ Sonic the Hedgehog, will be racing once again in Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice for Nintendo 3DS. The newest title will build off of the highly successful animated series on Cartoon Network, currently the #1 program on all TV among boys 6-11 and 9-14 in its time period, and serve as the latest chapter in the Sonic Boom™ franchise. The game will introduce more adventure, speed, exploration, and an all-new fire and ice gameplay element that will help propel the action. Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, featuring the triumphant return of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Sticks, will be available exclusively on Nintendo 3DS later this year.

Developed by Sanzaru Games Inc., Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is a single player game with collaborative gameplay components that shares key characters, events, and lore of the Sonic Boom universe. Players will see Sonic and his friends in familiar settings as they embark on a brand new adventure to battle Dr. Eggman as well as an all-new super villain, D-Fekt. The team’s adventures will bring them to locations both familiar and new as they explore, race and protect their world.

To create an entirely new experience, Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will infuse fire and ice elements throughout gameplay, enabling new abilities to play out in special character moves and interactions with environments. The new title also delivers gameplay that enables players to run through the game at top speed, or take their time with deeper exploration and puzzle play.

New to the title is the introduction of Bot Racing, a supplemental game tied to the single player story with multiplayer gameplay. The new Bot Racing feature is an extension of Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice that is purely about racing and speed, where a user will unlock character themed Bots to challenge friends on fast courses or tracks.

“We really want this game to surprise and delight Sonic fans both new and old, and have created a unique, fun game that delivers,” said John Cheng, President and COO, SEGA of America. “By introducing unique elemental gameplay features like ice and fire, along with new speed and exploration gameplay, there is a lot to enjoy with Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice.”

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice for Nintendo 3DS will run alongside the top rated animated series on Cartoon Network, in addition to a national merchandising and promotional campaign. The Sonic Boom television series, by SEGA of America Inc. and OuiDO! Productions will continue to air new episodes throughout the year – and beyond!

Well sounds promising. As long as it's not another Rise of Lyric. That game had so many things wrong with it, according to johnny of the SGB.

I'm trusting that they've learned from their mistakes and made a much better game. I haven't played the 3DS game, but I played the Wii U demo version and it just... didn't click. And then the terrible scores for the Wii U game made me happy I didn't pre-order it like I had wanted to (yay for not having funds at that time, I guess?). I guess I'll wait for scores again, but I'm not holding my breath, lol.

hope we're both right. The 3ds version was better than the Wii U version according to Johnny, so maybe this would be better. Please don't be a 3DS Rise of Lyric, PLEASE.

Yeah, same here. I hope this doesn't suffer from the same bugs as Rise Of Lyric did.

Also, is that The Mega I see on the promotional Art?

Though the Sonic Boom continuity really hasn't been what I like lately. I want them to go back to the awesome and serious and action-packed stuff I love about Sonic.

Also, I would like to ask a favor from for anyone who is my friend here.
If someday we meet in person in the near future, and I had recently done anything that would confirm that I had become a Brony (which as of now I am not one), such as if I had posted on a Pony-related fan-site, drawn a Pony-themed artwork, contributed to a Pony fanfic, or anything else along those lines. If I have done anything like that, I want you to punch me in the face without warning. This make sound like I'm joking, but I am absolutely serious about this. Ignore any future statements retracting this if I ever make any. Though if you do, please first confirm that it is me who is doing it, and not some Brony who is posing as me and wants to see me get punched. I do not wish to go down the path of the Bronies, and hopefully those of you reading this will help me so that it stays that way, if god forbid I ever even attempt it.
Thank you.

well the age demographic does have something to do with that. that'll do that for a community.

But yeah, if the game is any good, I'll think about downloading that.

Interesting. Didn't expect to see another title in the Boom series. I haven't played the full version of Shattered Crystal but my impressions of the demo looked promising. I don't expect it to be a terrible game, but I'm not expecting it to be a classic that I'll praise for years to come either.

So long as they've taken their time making sure the game is polished it should be an enjoyable enough experience. Not sure if I'll buy it, but it'd be nice if it did well enough to appease most fans.

If nothing else I'm liking the look of the stage design. Looks really nice.

People, the Wii U rise of lyric wasn't bad, almost billions of Sonic fans disliked this just because of one rating.

I sort of believe that shattered crystal was better than rise of lyric, as it had 2D side scrolling movement, like how a real sonic game should be.

No, people disliked it because it was broken as hell, had horrible lag for no reason, had a boring story and looked terrible.
