It is being developed by Good-Feel and is the first Yoshi video game released on a home console since 1997’s Yoshi’s Story for the Nintendo 64. With the player assuming the role of Yoshi, the game is similar to Good-Feel’s Kirby’s Epic Yarn in that the characters and their enviroment are comprised of yarn knits. The gameplay will be taking a page from the Yoshi’s Island series of games – Yoshi will retain much of his moveset from those games, including his flutter jump to help him reach areas and his ability to use his tongue to eats enemies. Instead of creating eggs when he swallows an enemy however, Yoshi will now create a yarn ball. These yarn balls will act much in the same matter as eggs in previous titles, allowing him to pop mystery clouds to uncover secrets. The balls will also give Yoshi the ability to tie up enemies such as Piranha Plants and fill in certain objects and platforms. Yoshi will also be able to ‘unravel’ particular areas to find secrets and possibly different routes. Huffin’ Puffins will be making a return in this game, acting differently than they did in the Yoshi’s Island series; the chicks, when thrown, will no form a temporary platform that Yoshi can use to get to hard to reach places. Smily Flowers will appear in this game and will presumably act as they did in Yoshi’s Island and it’s sequels in collecting all five would help increase your score and give you an extra life – the Goal Roulette returning could also suggest the reappearance the Bonus Challenges from Yoshi’s Island. Coins have been replaced with beads. As in Yoshi’s Story, Yoshi will have a Hit Point system. This will be replenished by Hearts. Aslo returning from Yoshi’s Island will be the ability for Yoshi to transform. Confirmed transformations include a giant Yoshi, a Mole Yoshi similar to the Mole Tank alteration from past titles, an Umbrella Yoshi, Plane Yoshi, Mermaid Yoshi, and a Motorbike Yoshi. It has not been confirmed what the transformations will do our how they will come about. Poochy will make a reapparance in this game and it has been said that the player can ride him in any level. Making it’s debut will be Wonder Wool. The player can collect up to five Wonder Wools in each level to unlock over 50 different patterns for the yarn-knitted Yoshi. These patterns can be used as playable Yoshi’s in the game. Yoshi’s Woolly World will have two modes of game play. Classic Mode is the standard gameplay in a similar vein to Yoshi’s Island and Yoshi’s Story, while Mellow Mode is for more casual or less experienced players. In Mellow Mode, players will be playing as Winged Yoshi and will be able to fly around freely. The two modes can be switched at any time during the gameplay. Yoshi’s Woolly World supports a co-op mode where two Yoshis, one green and one red, are playable. A Yoshi can eat its partner and turn them into a yarn ball or spit them out at enemies. This however causes the Yoshi being eaten to lose their current yarn balls. If a Yoshi goes too far off screen, it will turn into a flying Yoshi egg and be transported to the other Yoshi. This game will have Amiibo support, with certain Amiibos able to unlock new Yoshi patterns. As well, one of three yarn Yoshi Amiibos will be available with special attentions of the game. They can be used to summon an second Yoshi that can help you in the levels. Storyline: Not much of the storyline is known, however it has been confirmed that Kamek will turn the Craft Yoshis of the game’s knitted world into Wonder Wool. The two that remain will have to save the rest.
