Light. The one everyone seems to like. The one people seem to know. But what they don't know, is that if you have light, you have to have darkness. People who fight for light often have a dark past, a dark secret, or like me, dark POWERS. My name is Yin hasimoto, and i am someone who fights for light, and to top that off, has light powers. But like nearly everyone else who fights for light, i have a dark secret, a dark past, and he**, even dark powers. but people like me realize that without darkness, we wouldn't have light. And something else people don't realize, is that light is STRONGER with darkness. So why do people hate darkness so much? Because they think all darkness is bad. It's not. If you are one of the people that realize darkness is not bad, then great. 98% of teenager does or has tried smoking pot. Thou Hast NO Need for Fancy Avatars

(This probably should be in Sonic's Moonlit Realm)Not too far off from mine, I prefer Darkspine Sonic for design. If I had to choose, probably Werehog since it was from my favourite sonic game...not only that, but it brought back the platforming aspect of sonic and it is was what extended the length of the game(I still enjoy Dragon Road-Night to this day). If I can't have those two, then Excalibur Sonic for design as well. Super Sonic and Hyper Sonic Bore me,aren't I an odd one? Edited by Beowulf, Apr 24 2015, 03:49 PM.

Yes, it should. And that's where it's going to go. ![]() And my favorite Sonic form, aside from his normal form, is the Werehog. (Warning, long-ass post and a get into physiological ground here) If there's one thing I can say about the Werehog it's this; Best alternate gameplay style of the series and one of the main reasons why I hold Unleashed in such a high regard. Everything about him, from the gameplay, to his role in the storyline, to the character development Sonic gained was just...brilliant. I admit, when I first heard about the Werehog, I was skeptical. Very skeptical. I certainly wasn't hating him from the start, but I was worried about how this all would be pulled off. I was worried that it would render Sonic a mindless beast in that form - oh, and that he would be Sonic Labyrinth styles of slow. The latter worry was eventually put to rest by a magazine article, thankfully enough. But of course, there was one other thing that worried me; How well was the Werehog going to play? Well, I got the Wii version of Unleashed the Christmas following its release, and had quite a bit of fun with the Werehog there. And then, two years later, I finally got the of-touted better 360 version. My reaction was basically; 'Oh my god, this is THE best game in the franchise, by far.' And the Werehog was a big influence on this opinion. The Werehog is the best example of how alternate gameplay in the series should be done. He doesn't control horribly like the fishing segments in Big's levels of SA1, he's not boring like the shooting levels of SA2 tend to be and his gameplay actually has substance - you've got platforming, you've got combat, you've got RPG elements with the whole level up system, even got a few puzzles here and there. There was a vast repertoire of attacks he could learn, which made the combat that much more enjoyable because you have a wide variety of ways in which to defeat your opponents. And heck, even if you took out the puzzles and level-up system and just regulated him down to just a few moves, he still would have been good. In regards to the platforming, it was awesome because not only did we have the classic 'jump from one platform to another', but those stretchy arms allowed some rather creative use with bars and enemies to hold onto in order to continue on. Make him be able to slingshot himself forward and maybe add some parkour-style to his moveset (anyone else remember the cutscene after you perform that storyline required exorcism? I do) and you've got yourself a fantastic platforming character. And the form in the storyline, oh god the form in the storyline! Seriously, the Werehog gave Sonic some very nice character development in this game. Upon the initial transformation, he isn't all that phased. Slightly surprised at the best. I mean, just go and listen to him when Chip first calls him 'Mr. Monster Guy'. He doesn't seem to care that much. It's when he realizes that he's going to turn into a Werehog every time the sun goes down that it really starts to hit home for Sonic. Just the sheer disbelief in his voice when he realizes this is great. And let's not forget how he was actually depressed when Amy didn't recognize him. Yeah, Amy, the very girl he always runs away from whenever she comes a-chasing him with a fangirlish crush. And the thing is, this is his own fault. He is the one to blame for his situation. Yes, it was Eggman who pushed the button that indirectly led to the transformation in the first place, but he wouldn't have been able to push the button if Sonic didn't act so cocky and just went in for the defeat while his foe was down. But nope, this fallacy is Sonic's and he has to live with it for the duration of the game. And to be honest I think something like this needed to happen. Because as much as I like Sonic, let's face it, how often does he have to deal with negative consequences involving his actions and because of his cocky attitude? Not often - he can, and will, usually just brush it off and keep on running. This time though, he can't, and I thought that to be some much needed character development. And his punishment is a nightly transformation that not only changes his appearance but also robs Sonic of the very thing that he is famous for - his speed. When the sun goes down, no longer can he breeze through an area in the blink of an eye. Now, he has to lumber through stages at a speed that wouldn't be considered 'slow' for a normal person, but for him, Sonic the Hedgehog, it's maddening. And the way he releases this pent-up aggravation is beating the shit out of enemies in a fashion that is almost barbaric in nature, complete with feral cries and it's not what Sonic is known for. It's completely unlike him. And yet, underneath all that extra fur, those claws, and that wild manner, his character is still the same. Barbaric fighting style aside, he is no mindless beast - he doesn't attack Eggman in a blind rage when he is first transformed, nor does he cause more than property damage to the locales he visits a long his quest to get the world to join back together. He knows who's friend and foe, he still exhibits control over his actions. And his nobleness is still ever present - he still goes out of his way to help the people he meets, no matter what form he takes. It is as the Werehog that he saves the elder of Chun-Nan after all. He's still willing to do what is right and just. The Werehog also represents his faults and the emotions he normally hides under a cocky mask of coolness - his oft-touted short temper really gets to shine in this form, as he is much more prone to be irritated by things, for example. It was a great exploration of character and regardless of how it is achieved, I hope to see more of this in the future. And Sonic slowly starts to accept his change - the first couple times he transforms, he fights it. And not only that, the first time he finds out this is going to happen every night, he wants to be careful about who sees him. And as I mentioned before, he's saddened when Amy doesn't recognize him at first. And yet, after a while, he learns to cope with the change, becoming more and more accepting of it along the way. And finally, in the cut-scene where Chip is recalling who he is, Sonic transforms without fighting it at all. And then, Chip goes into a speech about how his will is strong enough to deter the mental effects of Dark Gaia's power. You can see some calm disbelief in Sonic's voice, almost as if he's skeptical about his friend's words, but at the same time he is beginning to understand where Chip is coming from. And it is then, that it finally clicks. Regardless of what he looks like, regardless of how fast he is able to run (though I seriously doubt he would ever completely accept not being the fastest thing alive), he is still himself. His soul, the very essence of his character and personality is still there. No matter what, he is still Sonic the Hedgehog. And that is why I'm a Werehog fan, because not only was the gameplay fun as hell, but I loved the characterization the form gave Sonic. It just fantastic. |

Angel Island Act 2

Super Sonic, most definitely. There's just something about Sonic's sparkling super form that gets me so excited. Especially when it's a dramatic transformation, somewhat like the one in the Sonic '06 after Sonic was brought back to life. It just makes me think that when our hero knows he can't fight who/whatever without a heroic power boost, he knows he can call upon the power of the 7 Chaos Emeralds, making any fight well worth the wait. |

Sonic. ... no that's it. Just Sonic. But seriously, as far as transformations go I'm personally pretty fond of Excalibur Sonic. Mostly because I'm a sucker for anything with a knight motif to it. In terms of gameplay Hyper Sonic is probably my favourite. Really overpowered and that's what makes it such a fun reward. |

I have to give props for Darkspine as well. Not only does he have a cool design, but unlike a certain other dark form of the character (Dark Sonic in X), Darkspine isn't a pointless big-lipped alligator moment. |
