Character Select
|
I hate how every time I begin the game, I have to fight Chaos. It's incredibly easy. The Egg Hornet is also too easy and pointless, and contributes nothing to the plot. Casinopolis drags out, is too automated, hard to control, and forces players to collect rings. The character fights are so pointless and short, that they don't even need to be in the game. I LOATHE the Tornado sections. They drag out on and on and on and on, and they are SO boring! One downside to this game is having to play it FOUR times! Every stage is incredibly easy and I get really bored playing them. The cutscenes don't keep my attention. Big's fishing. Enough said. E-101 Gamma's stages are too short and don't add anything to the plot. Amy Rose. Again, enough said. The stages in this game are incredibly short, boring, uninspired, and they don't add replayability. The hub worlds are pointless, as you're there for thirty seconds to go on to the next level. Why? Should I go on? |

"I didn't use the whole thing ...."

The first boss fight in any game is always easy. The Egg Hornet fight introduced Eggman into the story, his motivations and goals, That is its contribution to the plot. Casinopolis does drag out in Sonic's story I grant you but I wouldn't say its any less hard to control or automated then the rest of the game. The character fights are poorly programmed but they do fit into the story, Knuckles would indeed result to fisticuffs when he is lead to believe that someone had done him wrong, and Gamma was just following orders. I personally liked the Tornado sections but then I'm a fan of that on-rail shooter style of play. Never found the stages to be any easier or harder then any other Sonic game personally. The cutscenes do the job well enough, I'll give extra props to them for changing the dialog when cutscenes are repeated in other characters stories. Big's fishing was annoying but there was so little of it that it never really bothered me. Gamma's stages were just as long as they needed to be to not become dull and repetitive, They are much better then the Tails/Eggman stages of Adventure 2, As for the plot, He helped Eggman complete Chaos and brought Amy's story to a satisfying ending, he added quite a bit to the plot. Amy had an interesting set up considering it was her first time as a playable character, the chase sections were well done and implemented cleverly into both the story line and Amy's fleshed out character. In my personal opinion the stages are the prefect size, not to long and not too short, They may be somewhat uninspired but being the first true 3D Sonic game I can forgive that. The hub worlds are again because this was Sonic's first 3D game and they obviously were not sure what direction to take the series in, hence why the hub worlds would not return until Sonic Unleashed. No, Don't go on, Its clear you don't like the game and that's fine, but there is a world of difference between not liking something and it not being good. |

Okay, *cracks knuckles* Let's go through this one by one;
It's the first boss battle. It's supposed to be easy.
It's the second boss battle. Again, it's supposed to be easy. And it contributes nothing to the plot? Really? It introduces us to Eggman and his motivations. Therefore, it contributes to the plot.
It drags out? Go to one of the pinball games, lose said pinball game, and get set to the garbage. You can collect more than half the rings at a fraction of the time there. Too automated? The only really automated section is the occasional instance in the NiGHTS pinball game where it takes you to that area with NiGHTS and all that stuff for whatever reason. Hard to control? I never had a problem with anything. And with the rings, again, there's the garbage trick.
I'll give you that they're short, but how are they pointless? The Sonic/Tails vs Knuckles fights came by because Knuckles got tricked by Eggman into thinking Sonic had a piece of the Master Emerald - it fits into Knuckles being the guy who takes action first and asks questions later. Same with the Sonic/Tails vs Gamma fights. Gamma's just doing what Eggman asked of him, which is trying to beat Sonic.
I personally really enjoyed the Tornado sections. Certainly better than Unleashed's Tornado Defense acts, that's for damn sure.
While I will say that I find the game as a whole to be generally simple, I never felt that it was without some degree of challenge. Nor did I ever really get bored of the stages.
To me, I felt the cutscenes were solid and rather enjoyable.
Okay, I'll give you that one.
I never found them that short. And adding nothing to the plot? The guy helped Eggman complete Chaos and added some nice elements to Amy's story.
I loved Amy in this game. I thought her levels were enjoyable, if not a bit slow-paced and I consider this game to have the best portrayal of the character in the main series.
Short? The later stages can run for over four-five minutes. Sometimes longer. Boring? Never felt that way with any of the Sonic, Tails, and Amy levels. And while the Knuckles and Gamma stages aren't anything really exciting, they're not incredibly dull. Uninspired? I dunno, I felt they were more or less the opposite. Uh, to explore? To relax and just mess around if you wanted to. And to add world-building to the game and better connect the levels to one another. Look, it's fine that you don't like the game, but some of your criticisms seem to be rather superficial, or don't make much sense. |

Angel Island Act 2

You've got to be kidding, Sonic Adventure is easily one of (if not already considered) the best games in the entire series. I'll first disagree with your opinion on levels being replayable. Emerald Coast is not only replayable, but it's probably the most beautiful level in the game. I could play Windy Valley for hours, and have done so. Amy Rose being Amy Rose isn't a very good excuse, although her gameplay mechanics had a few bugs that needed to be worked out, I'm mostly referring to her speed. Also, it sounds like you lack interest in the story if the cutscenes don't keep your attention. Big's levels were an interesting twist on gaameplay we're used to in Sonic. They were just trying something new, and from the feedback they received, they probably won't be trying it again. |
