I thought this forum really needs a topic on perhaps the coolest show on Cartoon Network now, Steven Universe. It's one of the few non-anime shows I actually like too. Steven Universe tells the story of a boy named Steven, and his friends who are these mystic light beings with a gem core called "The Crystal Gems," who are all based on precious stones, such as Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst. Steven also happens to be related to a Crystal Gem himself. Each episode involves their adventures meeting other Crystal Gems, or facing against other Enemy Crystal Gems who wish to do them harm, taking them down, and collecting their Crystal. It deals with a lot of big themes in it too, and is very action-packed for a typical show like this. Also, each episode foreshadows the end of the season. Anyone else like this great new show? |

Though if you do, please first confirm that it is me who is doing it, and not some Brony who is posing as me and wants to see me get punched. Not a bad show to be honest...and I prefer boomerang or anime as opposed to anything else. Steven Universe to me shows children and adults that there is beauty in everything,whether malevolent or benevolent. Not only that,but I find Steven tolerable even if he is the cliche "never give up" hero,for many shows..that concept can be overblown and become very dry. Good show for children...teaches them to be positive and progressive.(Uh...ignore amethyst on that part,she is slob incarnate). |

I love this show! It's adorable and I heard in the new episode that they have a same sex kiss somewhat apparently. My favorite is Amethyst. They're adorable c: I think this show shows good messages for children and yeah. It's one of my favorites on Cartoon Network |

Yep, it's one of the better shows on Cartoon Network these days. I love the action in it too, and it has good humorous moments as well. Though I don't care if it gives a "Good Message" or anything like that, like some of you do. That stuff means squat to me. That's not any reason why I like it. My favorite character has to be Garnet. Meh...Everyone I know hates her..but I prefer Pearl and Lion. I am British and well...being born with a somewhat sophisticated family,elegance was the norm.Thats precisely why I like pearl...she can be a bit of a smart-alec,but that doesn't sway me from liking her,not only that but she has good blade skills,and I' ve been taking fencing classes for about two years now. I find the Colour Pink absolutely horrendous,but lion is a majestic creature...and he seems like a gateway to Rose or Steven's key to finding out more about his mother. Lars is a...well nevermind, Garnet is not bad either... like her as much as Pearl...Amethyst is a bit too much of a slob for my tastes...and well,I explained that part already |

Recently, I saw another neat plot point that I am disappointed they aren't diving into more. It was revealed that many of the Monster Gems, such as Centipeetle Mother, were formerly humanoid gems like the heroes, until they got corrupted by something. In fact, when it was reforming and becoming tame, you briefly see it take the shape of a person too. I wonder what some of those gems were like before they got corrupted? It would be great if we could see their former selves in the series at some point. Also, what exactly is the cause of their corruption into these beasts? It's starting to remind me a ton of The Heartless in Kingdom Hearts now. Am I the only one who thinks it's bizarre that this was NEVER brought up again? When are we going to return to this plot point? It's kind of a big deal. |
