With Mobius having been on the edge of space for long parts of its history, they really should have seen the meteors coming, at least weeks in advance. Instead, the shower had seemed to come from nowhere, abruptly appearing on a collision course with the planet.
Not that the sudden storm of space rock was dangerous; most of them were too small to have even the slightest chance of them hitting the ground. Still, the abrupt nature of the meteors was enough to start a storm of gossip and hearsay, just because of the sheer novelty factor.

In an inner-city café, a young black cat answered his cellphone as it rang. "Yeah, Cade. Hey, Julia. Yeah, that's freaky. Far as I've heard, they haven't-- what? No way. They did? Wow. Okay, I'll... I'll meet you after classes, then."
As Cade's call concluded, his attention would turn to the café's entrance as someone he knew entered. He would wave the newcomer over to his table and greet them.

Good vibes.
Walking through the entrance was a dark orange fox, named Vestra Kroy. She was known around here for two things: Her inventions, and her cold demeanor. A leather-gloved hand gripped her steel cane as she made her way through the cafe. She had a black hoodie on, as well as black jeans and steel-toed boots and an eye-patch over her lack of a right eye. A few of the patrons looked away, mostly due to the large burn scar covering the right side of her face.

A single harvest-gold eye scanned the cafe as Vestra looked for a place to sit.

Another person was sitting in a corner of the café. This time, we have a human male. He had on a red T-shirt, with a logo of a guitar's headstock. What was special about this shirt in his eyes was that this shirt was his calling card. he would have untidy brown hair, if the odd pointed hat that looked like the headstock of his guitar hadn't been on said head. Like Vestra he wore black jeans, an odd choice for a String Mage to wear, but they were comfortable. In a long black case coated with mystic symbols at his feet rested his equipment; his beloved soulstring electric guitar. An Amplifier cable (and unbelievably a full sized Amplifier) also was in the case as well. And you might not have believed it upon looking at it, but the long black case was important too. Aside from housing his equipment, it was his way of getting around this world. He would walk right through the case and appear on the other side, the other side being his destination.

However, Aaron Kunai wouldn't be doing all of that right now. He was taking a long siesta. All that traveling wore him out, and this little café was a godsend to him.

On the other side of the cafe, a young wolf was busy writing something in a notebook. Every now and then, she would look up and tap her chin with the pen in her blue-gloved hands. It would be a few seconds afterwards that she would lower the pen back to the paper and begin writing again.

After a while the wolf, Vesper by name, noticed movement out of the corner of her eye. She looked up to see Vestra entering the building and Cade waving her over. "Hmm, wonder what's going on over there."

"Hey, Vestra! Over here!" Cade offered, waving her over. Just because Vestra seemed inapproachable didn't mean she shouldn't be approached, or so Cade believed. In his peripheral vision, he recognized Vesper as well, but she seemed occupied in her writing at the time.

Vestra turned towards Cade. She mulled the decision for a significant amount of time (three seconds) before making her decision.

She hobbled over to him and sat down at his table. "Cade. You were in need of my services yesterday. I trust that my performance was satisfactory."

Aaron was still napping in his booth, his cap over his eyes. He heard voices, but they didn't concern him. All the better for him. He really needed this nap.

Vesper, who in all honesty preferred to be called 'Eve' - rolled off the tongue better, she had always said- looked up to see Aaron sleeping. She rolled her eyes, her ears pulled back in annoyance. "Doesn't he have a bed or something to do that in?"

It was then that Aaron awoke, but not because of what "Eve" said. He looked around, adjusting his String Mage hat. "Um, sorry for me napping here. I've been on the road for the last few weeks, so....yeah." He really didn't know how to end that sentence.

Cade nodded as Vestra sat across from him. "Oh, yeah, of course. Far as I can tell it's working. Real test's gonna be how long it keeps recording, but I'll keep you updated if anything changes," he assured her. "So, am I the only one who stayed up for last night's meteor shower?" he queried.

"I altered my sleep schedule the previous night to observe that unusual phenomena." Vestra said. "It was aesthetically pleasing. I recorded most of the event."

At the mention of the meteor shower, Eve stood up and walked over to where the two fellow Mobians were sitting. "I'm sorry, did you say something about the shower last night?" She propped an elbow on top of one of the empty seats. "Because I saw it as well. Beautiful stuff. It even gave me a few ideas for my novel."

Aaron listened to the talk of the meteor shower. He had seen it whilst he was just rolling into town. It was so late at night though that the String Mage had to sleep under a tree. At least the weather was decent.

Cade nodded as the others chimed in. When he spoke, it was in a quieter voice, though. "Yeah. Cool as it was, my friend at the space center says it didn't follow the path of any of the known meteor groups. And according to her, they think that one actually changed trajectory midflight! If it's not a sensor glitch, it actually impacted not too far from here," he said.

Vestra closed her eye and clasped her hands together on the table. "If your friend is to be believed, then we may be dealing with a powerful intellect indeed. Either someone on Mobius has the capability of bringing asteroids from a great distance planetside, or the meteors themselves are artificial in origin. Either case is cause for concern."
