Why in the hell did the cable companies want the internet anyway? What have they got to gain from it?

They wanted to change the Internet into "Cable TV 2.0." They wanted to divide the Internet into a "fast lane," (people get to surf the net as though nothing had happened as long as they "pay to play,") and for the rest that can't pay, they have to go through an Internet "slow lane," which should be pretty much self explanatory.

In the words of Billy Mays, "BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! " in addition to that, we were going to be charged for content that we want to see on the net. This makes it harder for websites to make money, let alone even start a website.

What we did was that we banned this kind of thing. It isn't going to be implemented for another couple of months, give or take but we beat them nonetheless.

In terms of what they would gain from this, probably more money for them.
Wow. What utter bullshit to pull. People should just be able to pay their internet provider once a month and have constantly fast internet. And charging for content we want to see? So what, did that essentially mean that every time I, for example, wanted to watch a video on Youtube, I'd have to pay for it?

Screw that bs. Thank god we won.
