This time, I have a question to ask. Do you remember...THIS? Or...THIS? If the answer is "Yes" (And chances are, it is) welcome to my newest thread, favorite videogame commercials!!! Pretty self explanatory here; You can talk about your favorite videogame commercial(s), or post a video of them and talk about why they are your favorites!! As for those two, I chose the super smash bros. one because it had a strong impact on me as a kid. It definitely made me want to get an N64 and play it (In which I did down the line.) Plus, the use of the Turtle's classic track "Happy Together" was used to epic effect. Now everytime i hear that song, I just get shivers down my spine, because it makes me think of this commercial. In a good way, of course. Then, I chose the two Majora's Mask commercials because although i didn't see them as a kid (I saw the other one, where at the end it had the tagline "The World's Waiting On You.") However I saw this one on Youtube upon further investigation and just had to put it here. Although i don't like Majora's Mask (More of an OoT fan myself,) It kinda set the atmosphere more than the other one i spoke of. Now..It's you guys' turn. What are your fave commercials? Why are they your faves? Also, I'll keep posting my fave commercials too whenever i can. Right now, I'm a bit too lazy to do so. Jet Moto 2 Hilarious, old lady doesn't want to go fast! Ratchet & Clank Love how they take weapons from the game and use them in a live action skit. Comic genius! Sonic/Genesis commercial Just funny how Sega made fun of Nintendo in their commercials. Crash Bandicoot at Nintendo HQ Again just funny how Sony used some mudslinging to establish their new console. Metallix! Gotta love the 90's and early 2000's. Had awesome commercials back then! anyways, time once again for my faves, starting with some overseas advertz for MGS: The Twin Snakes..... Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Japanese Commercials Now back to some good 'ol 'murican soil with a commercial for a wacky, yet epic commercial for an equally wackier, yet epic-er (is that even a word? ah, who cares, it is now!! ) GBA RPG game: Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga!!! M&L:SS And now... my thoughts (MGS ads) Ok, the reason why i picked these commercials specifically was their (somewhat) quick and to the point-ness of it all. I liked the projections of the games cutscenes, showing how much of a graphical upgrade this remake for the gamecube had over the original PSX version. I also liked the significance of each version: For example, the one that takes place in the snow depicts the cutscene with Sniper Wolf. It is fitting, because you fight Sniper Wolf...where else...in the snow. And then the steely Japanese voice over booming out at the end of each one "Metal Gear Solid, In Gamecube." Put that together, what do you have? Several epic commercials. Kinda puts us to shame. my thoughts (M&L ad) Ok, other than its overwhelming cuteness, I liked the live-action old film projection of the whole thing. And the little whistling song accompanying it sold me on it. It truly made me want to buy the game (and it is a good RPG, mind you). Beautiful. Oh, and the "Who Are You?" tagline was a nice touch too, as that was Ninty's slogan during the early 2000's. And there you have it!! another round of my fave ads. Now let's keep this going!! Good Ol' cheesy 90's Ninty-Sony mudslingin'. Ok guys, I'm back once again, this time starting the party by showcasing several Nintendo Gamecube Commercials with the mantra of "Who Are You?" Each of these commercials take place in a psychiatrist's office with the patient acting out the games. The jab of all of them is at the end, The Psychiatrist asks him in a confused tone... Who Are You? Next stop, Some TV promo spots for everyone's (somewhat) favorite two- screened game and watch, The Nintendo DS. (Warning: May contain some touching-induced innuendo. You've been warned.) Touching is Good....and Creepy....but mostly good. MOSTLY. Ok, now that that's out of the way, here's some early DS commercials to get your mind of of that....I hope so. Oh.....wait..those two innuendo-inducing rectangles are back again!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!11111 And now.... the final word (GCN "Who are you?"Ads) Ok, now I chose these because it kind of showcased what Nintendo was trying to get at in the early 2000's. However, I kind of liked the live-action ads and spots a little better. But still, it was hilarious to see the guy act out the games, especially the Custom Robo one. Oh, and the MGS one was kind of entertaining. the final word (Nintendo DS Ads/TV Spots) Oh boy oh boy...where do i start? First of all, the three promos for the system i didn't know about until i watched a compilation on youtube (The ones i put up here.) They scared the living daylights out of me. However, it was somewhat good marketing at the time. It had almost a sense of interactivity, as if Ninty had somehow someway gained control of your TV, and practically reached out to you to touch it.....Like i said, they induced a lot of innuendo in my mind, but it was worth it. Look what we got. A system that turned a lot of non-gamers into gamers. Good job Ninty, Good job. Touching is indeed Good. Oh, and happy upcoming 10th anniversary to the original DS too (November 21st, 2004-November 21st, 2014, which as of this post, is not too far away!! yay!!! And there we go. Viva La Ninty!!!
