Probably one of my favorite, less well-known franchises on Playstation. I know a lot of people love this game, but you never really hear about it, even though the last release was like seven years ago (Logan's Shadow).![]() So Syphon Filter was basically a Splinter Cell before Splinter Cell existed. It involves the same stealth tactics as you would get out of Splinter Cell, or at least the earlier ones, haven't played Splinter Cell in ages. Syphon Filter was like the first game I've ever played in my life. Played it when I was 3 for the PS1, though. With a mixture of stealthy missions, missions with obstacles, and missions with airing people out to get to your destination, the game is just a lot of fun and I absolutely love the weapons and context. With Syphon Filter II, I fell even more in love because of the multiplayer. It had a way better campaign and more weapons. Overall, the whole franchise is great except for the last one where I just kinda lost interest. I think after 989 Studios let go of it, it deescalated, even though the rest of the games were good. Any fans? |

I'm a big fan of this series! I played the first one when it was out at my friend's house and at the time it was just good plain fun. I always loved the taser, and catching people on fire. I never played the second one but I rented the third and loved that one. I owned Omega Strain and both of them on PSP(best PSP games imo) and I don't think Logan's Shadow was bad at all. I liked it a lot and thought it was better than Dark Mirror(which was also great). As far as who developed it, it's always been the same team. It was made by Eidetic which at some point(Idk when) changed their name to Sony Bend. Sony Bend because it's a part of SCE and is located in Bend, Oregon. 989 was just the publisher. Sony Bend is still around today and after Logan's Shadow they made Resistance Retribution and Uncharted Golden Abyss. They are currently at work on a PS4 game but it's unknown what that will be. I really really hope it's a new Syphon Filter because Logan's Shadow was just a cliff hanger that needs to be expanded on with a sequel. Although rumors are a different Sony studio is working on a new Syphon Filter such as Guerilla Cambridge or London Studio but just rumors. Here is a link with some of the rumors that have been floating around. http://www.primagames.com/games/god-war-iii/news/syphon-filter-4-out-winter-2012-uk-mag-claims-1439 I never saw it but I remember the day it happened, on the PlayStation blog they announced Syphon Filter 4 for the PS3 but it immediately got taken down for reasons unknown but people did see the post. Why? My guess is it got axed on the PS3 and they wanted to move it to PS4. This is something I really hope is announced at GamesCom coming soon. |
