Hey there, everyone! I'm new to this forum, so here's a brief introduction. Who's this guy? A fair question! I'm Dr. Mechano (real name, Chris), I'm 26 years old, and currently work as a teacher. As of this post, I'm on my summer break, so for the time being, I have a little more free time than usual! So, I'm pouring much of that break time into Sonic shenanigans. Because of course I am. Naturally, I'll still be part of this community when I go back to work; I'll just be a bit less active after August. How I became a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog: Let's not mince words - I did not grow up with Sonic in the 90s as many of you did. Oh, I was aware of the hedgehog, but I was staunchly in Nintendo's camp, and had an SNES instead of a Genesis. It wasn't until Sonic Adventure 2 was ported to Gamecube that I delved into the series, and I've been hooked ever since I saw Eggman blast his way into Iron Gate. (Also, don't worry, I've since played almost all of the old games since then, and am quite familiar with the franchise's long history now.) Favorite character? Dr. Eggman (a.k.a. Ivo Robotnik), naturally! He's over-the-top, he's hammy, he's tons of fun. At times, he even shows hints of a soft side underneath that maniacal exterior. This guy can swing back and forth from intimidating to hilarious, all while still feeling totally in-character the entire time. He's a great villain, and a great character in general. Eggman's been my favorite character ever since I became a Sonic fan, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Favorite Sonic game? I love me some Sonic Adventure 2. Aside from playable Eggman, it also had a surprisingly complex story for a Sonic game. While many Sonic storylines fumble at being serious (Shadow, 2K6), I feel SA2 did it with more finesse. It was fun, it was engaging, and it's still my favorite! My favorite 2D game, however, is probably Sonic 3 and Knuckles. It's such a well-done game! Favorite Sonic animated series? The Sonic OVA. It was short but sweet. I also really liked Sera as a character, and greatly enjoyed her interactions with Eggman throughout both episodes. Favorite Sonic comic series? Surprisingly, the Sonic X comic by Archie. I felt it was a lot better than the show: Chris's role was downplayed tremendously, the writing was honestly pretty clever, and the characterization was really solid. Plus, it features Eggman moonlighting as a luchador! What more can you ask for? What am I looking for in this community? Eh, I'm mostly just looking for like-minded fans to talk about Sonic stuff. I want to make some new friends and acquaintances here, and to hopefully feel right at home in this community! Anyway, that's my introduction. Hi, everyone!
