Ao Oni, The Movie; The Indie Puzzle Game is going to have a Live-Action Movie!

Not much has been stated about it, except that it is scheduled to be released on July 5th, 2014, and that some of the actors in it will include Anna Iriyama, Kenta Suga, Syo Jinnai, Seika Furuhata, and Riku Ozeki. From the looks of things though, the movie is going to be a lot more scary and bloody than the game was. For those of you who aren't aware, Ao Oni is this puzzle game that is about a bunch of kids who go to investigate a haunted mansion where a strange monster is said to be lurking, only to end up trapped inside and get chased by the said monster, the Ao Oni (who looks more like a Bobblehead of the Blue Man Group), as well as a bunch of other silly-looking monsters there too, and have to solve puzzles in order to escape. It's free to download, and interesting in ways, although I wouldn't exactly call it scary (I dunno what makes some people scared about it anyways). If someday we meet in person in the near future, and I had recently done anything that would confirm that I had become a Brony (which as of now I am not one), such as if I had posted on a Pony-related fan-site, drawn a Pony-themed artwork, contributed to a Pony fanfic, or anything else along those lines. If I have done anything like that, I want you to punch me in the face without warning. This make sound like I'm joking, but I am absolutely serious about this. Ignore any future statements retracting this if I ever make any. Though if you do, please first confirm that it is me who is doing it, and not some Brony who is posing as me and wants to see me get punched. I do not wish to go down the path of the Bronies, and hopefully those of you reading this will help me so that it stays that way, if god forbid I ever even attempt it. Thank you.

The Ao Oni and its chums aren't exactly pleasant to look at. I mean, try to imagine these things IRL. Still, no love for this game on here? Unacceptable. Bump time. Not exactly a fan of the look they gave the demon. Looks a little try-hardy and not really creepy. They should've kept the smudgy Aphex-Twin kinda look, though there isn't much I can say from just a single screenshot I guess. Jap horror is usually always awesome, so if this is still a thing, I'm pretty stoked for it.

As I mentioned before, the main Oni looks more like a bobblehead of the Blue Man Group, and they aren't scary. The blockhead one looks more like a Blue version of Domo-Kun, and he ain't scary one bit. The other ones looked to me more like something I'd see in a show like Courage The Cowardly Dog, or The Wonderful World of Gumball, and even some episodes of SpongeBob and Ren and Stimpy, or some other shows like that, and those I always found to look just plain ridiculous, but not disturbing or scary to me at all. Now, if they instead were hideous, bloodthirsty-looking nightmarish monsters like the monsters you see in Dead Space, Resident Evil, Amnesia The Dark Descent, or something else like that, then I'd personally find them to be disturbing or scary. But the creeps seen in Ao Oni did not scare me or disconcert me one bit, they looked more ridiculous to me, and I don't see why people find them to be disturbing at all. Not that I disliked the game though, I liked it for the challenging parts and the fun factor. I just didn't find it unsettling at all. Now for the movie, I'm actually surprised that they'd make a movie of this Indie Game. I wonder how they will be able to incorporate the storyline into movie form. Nonetheless, I'm still interested in seeing it when it comes out. And yeah, are you and me the only two people here who liked Ao Oni? Edited by Shyna, Jun 9 2014, 03:19 PM.
