There are no NorCal meets that I know of just yet; it's a surprise given that SEGA HQ is in the area! The closest thing would be the Gamestop Expo meet in September; since it's basically a 7/8-hour PAX or E3 (and much cheaper), it's definitely something to consider attending if one has a gamer background. The word really needs to get out about these meetup chapters and events in general, though; this is why I've been trying to aggressively get Revolution affiliated with various fansites or at least have a news writer I can regularly get in contact with. I think events will really pick up this Summer, since I'll be able to use other conventions, as well as the SEGA arcade and Sonic Boom 2014, to promote all this. Greetings fellow Boomers around the world! While I let some of the news slip in various circles, I’ve made sure to keep a lid on a lot of things to make this Hedgehog Day extra special. I’ve been excited to reveal a fair bit of news today, so here it goes! First off, let’s talk about Sonic Revolution, as in the organization. We are proud to report we have formally affiliated with Sonic the Comic – Online and Fans United for SatAM! We are also in talks with affiliation with two other Sonic fan sites. When I originally thought of looking for affiliates, FUS and STCO popped out first – through their hard work and dedication, they have made the desires of their particular fanbases a reality. This is much in line with Sonic Revolution’s goals; though they may focus on animation and comics (respectively) whereas we focus on conventions, we are all ultimately working for the cause of fan empowerment, and it’s an honor to be associated with both. We hope to see more affiliates in the future; it would be a blast if the Sonic fanbase was united. Secondly, great news for those living in Latin America and the Iberian peninsula! Other fans have formed groups similar to Sonic Revolution in Portuguese and Spanish. While these are NOT part of the Sonic Revolution organization, they operate under the same name in their respective languages and have the same goals; we give them our full support, naturally. If you speak either of the two languages, feel free to give them a look. There’s a vibrant community in Brazil via Planeta Sonic for one example, so we are certain that events could be brought to the whole of the Ibero-American countries. Sonic Revolution is also interested in having bilingual contacts who are able to speak Spanish and Portuguese, who can keep track of these groups’ events and pass the news onto us. Thirdly, more Sonic fan events! There’s a new one scheduled for No Brand Con later this year on April 25th in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. It is of course, hosted by Sonic Wisconsin, and here is the event page! They will be meeting in the Plaza Hotel and Suites’ lobby at 2 PM. Weston Super Sonic, meanwhile, has announced plans for a Bristol meet this month and a Taunton meet next month. More details as they come, though Claire (SSMB user Rurifuu) has welcomed comments on the best times and dates for people to try and maximize turnout. They also had a meetup a few hours ago (as mentioned above), so let it be known they’re most definitely bringing the regular meetup scene to the southwestern UK! Weston Super Sonic has also announced that it will be hosting a craft contest at next year’s event, giving you close to year to prepare – a “craft” is any piece of work that does not count as a costume or artwork. Fourth, something I’ve been excited to reveal for a good month or so. While Sonic Revolution 2014’s date and location are not yet finalized (we’ll have them very soon, don’t worry)… we can at least tell you about a special surprise we have planned. [img=http://i.imgur.com/jWcJoyG.png] It is my honor to reveal that we have partnered with animator Christopher Wilcots and director and writer Doryan Nelson, the team behind the upcoming Sonic Prologue fan film. We felt that as a fan event it was only proper we give the ability to showcase work to promising projects, and Sonic Prologue most certainly fits the bill! The film will sadly not be finished in full by the time of Revolution, but we will be showcasing a scene from the film via projector screen; this scene will be a Revolution exclusive. There is plenty more goodies prepared for Sonic Revolution 2014. However, it’d be no fun if we revealed them all at once, now would it? Stay tuned for more event date and details as they come. Greetings Sonic fans the world over! Remember how I said Sonic Revolution 2014 was being worked on? You might not since I’ve said it for a few months, but for those who were waiting patiently, your wait is over. We are now finally ready to unveil our event’s finer details! Date: Sunday, June 15, 2014 Time: 10 AM to 6 PM Location: The Marquis Room at the Holiday Inn Buena Park Address: 7000 Beach Blvd, Buena Park, California 90620 Please wait on booking your rooms at the Holiday Inn! We will have a code for the event shortly that you can use to get a discounted rate on the hotel, good for both Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th. Tickets will be put up for grabs on March 1st. Tickets will be FREE and obtained via EventBrite; an update will be posted once they are ready to be taken by attendees. For those planning to stay for more than just the event, some amenities at the location are: a bar inside the main lobby of the hotel; a restaurant inside the hotel as well as a Fuddruckers next door outside; a gas station down the block for any small purchases; and shuttles to Knott’s Berry Farm and Disneyland. Sonic Revolution announced that an exclusive clip of the upcoming Sonic Prologue film would be shown at the event back on Hedgehog Day. In line with that, we are announcing our first special guest for this year’s event: Christopher Wilcots, the animator on the film! His companion, director and writer Doryan Nelson, was sadly unable to make it, but Mr. Wilcots will be present and most likely be part of a QnA panel. We also have another two special guests: Cody James Scarlett and Jerry Alexander of the band Serenity Seven! Serenity Seven will be performing several classic Sonic hits as well as some of their own original music. Skeptical of Serenity Seven? Just give some of their published works a listen! They’ve uploaded covers of Escape from the City from Sonic Adventure 2, Reach for the Stars from Sonic Colors, Endless Possibilities from Sonic Unleashed, and What I’m Made Of from Sonic Heroes! They have done several covers that are not yet released but have been played on Sonic Radio. The whole Revolution team hopes you will join us in seeing them perform live this Summer! There will also be a gaming tournament in a section of the convention, "Gaming Through the AGES." This area features several Sonic games played on their original SEGA consoles. More details will be revealed about Gaming through the AGES in the future. We will also be offering FREE artist alley spots to those who would be interested in showcasing and/or selling their work at the venue! If you plan on attending and would like a spot in Sonic Revolution’s Artist Alley, please e-mail sonicremix@sonic-revolution.net with the subject “Artist Alley Registration.” More details about the event, such as its schedule, hotel discount code, and tickets, will be released in the next few weeks. Please mark your calendars and join us at the first fan-run convention in the United States devoted to Sonic the Hedgehog! This thread will be a source of updates, as will our Facebook, Twitter, and website. Feel free to ask any questions about the event below! Edited by Ogilvie, Feb 21 2014, 08:34 PM.

Dates: June 8th and 9th, 2015; 8 AM-6 PM both days Venue: To be decided next month based on ticket sales; Las Vegas This event may not happen if too few tickets are sold. Room rates in Vegas average about 40 dollars a night after taxes and fees. It's not as expensive a trip as you'd think! Tickets are on sale now: http://www.eventbee.com/v/casinonights2015 Myself and the small (but growing as I recruit more volunteers and staff) team I've assembled have decided we're going to throw a Sonic convention next year. A two-day one, at that! The dates are June 8th and June 9th, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The hours are 8 AM to 6 PM - that's 10 hours each day! The dates and times may change slightly, but it’s going to be next June on a Monday and Tuesday to keep prices low. They cost 20 dollars for a single day and 35 dollars for both days, not including service fees. That sounds like a lot, but one must remember that Sonic Boom charges 29 dollars total for 4 hours by comparison. Why the paid tickets? Ticket sales ensure this event happens every year regardless of what my personal finances (or that of any major backers) look like. They also allow a better headcount (important given I will have goodie bags planned) and the ability to pay for large amounts of activities and events to keep attendees occupied. The exact venue will be determined June of this year when we see how many tickets have sold; if too few tickets are sold, I will have to cancel the event entirely. If you plan on going, do buy sometime this month to make sure this happens. In the event the convention is cancelled, all tickets will be refunded. I have a whole list of venues to choose from, ranging from 100 to 1800 people. The way finances work, the more tickets sold, the less expensive the venue itself is per attendee and the more that can be afforded for the event itself. What sorts of activities will I have planned? More details are at the actual ticket sales page, but it will range from cosplay contests to tournaments to raffles to fan games to panels and concerts. 20 hours is a lot of time, and fortunately, Sonic has a lot going for him to fill it out. We already have confirmations from individuals such as Matt Herms and Ian Flynn of Archie that they'd be very open to attending... the budget just needs to be there first. Unfortunately no one involved with this is a billionaire; that's why the ticket sales are important. Every person attending makes this event possible, and I encourage everyone to take pride in that. Why Dreamerch’s involvement? Tax reasons. Despite the Dreamerch attachment, all proceeds from the convention itself are used exclusively for the convention, such as buying more space, more guests, or more goodies for attendees. The event itself is not-for-profit. Even if you can’t attend this event… I’ll have a fundraiser up and running shortly with all sorts of goodies involved for donors. I think you’ll quite enjoy the cheapest donation option. ![]() I hope to see as many of you (friends and family are good too!) there as possible! The more the merrier… Any questions or concerns are welcome. I've had to learn an awful lot about various policies, laws, etc. to do this. Stressful as all heck, but incredibly fun too! |

You can buy tickets to attend here! You can donate to the fundraiser and receive rewards here! Sonic Revolution 2014 is not even upon us yet, and already there’s another Sonic the Hedgehog convention in the works! ![]() Casino Nights Zone is a TWO-day convention for fans of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, though gamers of all ages and interests, as well as their families, are more than welcome to attend. The event is to be held in Las Vegas in June 2015; the current dates are speculative and final dates will come in the coming weeks. Casino Nights is being organized with the same ideas as Sonic Boom, Summer of Sonic, Sonic Revolution and Weston Super Sonic: a place where all Sonic fans can gather and have hours (or days, in our case) of fun about their favorite blue hedgehog! While there are larger venues available if enough tickets were sold, the current venue of choice is the Fifth Street School in Las Vegas near historic Fremont Street; it has an indoor capacity of 600 and is located convenient to several cheap (50-60 dollars a night) hotels. The exact date will be announced when a contract is signed, but the target date will be a Friday/Saturday in June 2015. Event Details The event is being formally sponsored by Dreamerch, a small video game merchandise retailer, but the event itself is run on a not-for-profit basis; any proceeds from the event will be going towards increasing the amount of activities available to attendees. The event is divided into the first day, Act I, which is themed around the villains, and Act II, which is themed around the heroes. Contests and activities shall be held on both days and will be tailored to these themes: for example, the costume contest for Act I is for those cosplaying a villain (Dr. Eggman, Metal Sonic, etc.) and Act II for those cosplaying a hero (Sonic, Tails, etc.). A 20-hour event is going to require lots of funding (around 16,000 dollars) to ensure that there's lots for attendees to do; every ticket purchased from us will make this possible. Money raised from tickets will go towards paying for the event space as well as all the activities we have planned. Activities available at the venue will include: • Contests (Trivia, Costume, Art and more); • Musical performances by various talented musicians; • Panels with various special guests (such as Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog writer Ian Flynn or Sonic comic artists Matt Herms and Evan Stanley) who have contributed to the Sonic franchise in one form or another, such as voice work, artwork, animation, game design, writing, or more; • Raffles for various prizes • Gaming tournaments, ranging from Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed to Super Smash Bros. Brawl; • A fangame area where the most promising fangames will be available to view and play; • Tables to have your merchandise signed by various creative talents who have worked on Sonic the Hedgehog; • Fanmade animations and videos related to Sonic the Hedgehog will be showcased throughout the day; • Vendor booths and artist alley tables where all sorts of merchandise will be for sale; • A fanmade Sonic mascot costume as well as other options for photo opportunities; • All this will be to the tune of Sonic music playing in the background all day long; And more! Special guests will be announced as they are confirmed to be attending. ![]() Several talented individuals who have contributed to Sonic media over the years have voiced interest (none of these guests are confirmed, just as a note; guests will be confirmed as we make arrangements later on) in attending. Of course, these are only the guests who have announced interest publicly... ![]() To help pay for the costs of this event, a small ticket fee is charged; a one-day pass costs 20 dollars, and a two-day pass costs 35 dollars. Las Vegas and EventBee charge some fees as well, and these are levied on top of the ticket price; after service fees and taxes, a one day pass is 24 dollars, and the two day pass is 40.50. We hope you will join us in Las Vegas for the world's first formal two-day Sonic convention! This event is not sponsored by or affiliated with SEGA or any of its subsidiaries and is an independent undertaking. Every person who buys a ticket or otherwise contributes makes this event possible, and we encourage all contributors and attendees to take pride in this fact. Myself and all the other Casino Nights staff hope you will join us at Casino Nights next year in fabulous Las Vegas! |
