Blue streak, Speeds by... SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!!!
|
OLD. Spoiler: click to toggle http://www.screwattack.com/news/sony-pictures-bringing-sonic-hedgehog-big-screen "At this year’s E3, Sony showed off a brand new trailer for the forthcoming Ratchet and Clank movie, yet in terms of big screen announcements, the company didn’t end there, as a new Sonic the Hedgehog movie is also on its way, blending together live-action video and CGI. As described by Sony Pictures’ head of production, Hannah Minghella, “There are limitless stories to tell with a character like Sonic the Hedgehog, and a built-in international fan base." Film is confirmed, Sony is producing it, live action mixed with CG, discuss thoughts. Edited by SXR123, Jun 12 2014, 08:55 AM.

>"Dark, edgy version aimed at older audiences!" >*gets reminded of Shadow the Hedgehog* >*stares at Sonic Boom* Doubt this will be true, considering the direction the recent games and how they strayed away from darker stuff. |

Well this film is aimed towards the older audiences. People who've been playing for nearly 20+ years. |

I object to your claims

Hmm... Tssz is not giving a source for this thing. Considering their track record, how am I supposed to take this news seriously if there's not an original source from either SEGA or even Columbia Pictures themselves? Also;
Yeah-no, I really don't see this as real now. Why? Because Samuel Dickerman no longer works at Columbia Studios; http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/disney-hires-sony-exec-sam-681573 See? Therefore, I'm calling bullshit on this rumor right now. |

Angel Island Act 2

Up until SEGA confirms or denies a movie I'm not holding my breath on this being legit. SEGA's spent a lot of effort rebuilding the brand; it would be weird for them to so quickly try to delve back into dark stories, especially after how Lost World fared. If there's going to be a film, I'm positive it will be based around Boom. |

I'm with you guys on this one, but I figured, who knows? I'm thinking it's bullshit too, but until Sega says it's fake, or there's undeniable proof that it is, no one knows. |

The most important meal of the day

Not holding my breath for it either, but it wouldn't be that far-fetched of an idea for it to be geared towards older audiences if it were, in fact, happening. My reasoning on this is because with the recent tone of the games and the whole Boom thing being clearly for younger audiences, I mean maybe they would just try to do one last hoorah for the loyal older audiences who actually appreciated the darker tone they adopted for some previous works (such as myself, although I realize there aren't many of us). That's just my thinking on it. If it actually happened, that is. |

Yes but there was nothing dark or that nonsense in the older games and thus older audiences, being Saturday morning cartoons like the style of the series is now. And yeah, Blaire pretty much debunked this. |

Pretty much. I mean, I wouldn't mind a story with a darker tone. I mean, Pokemon has quite a few dark undertones, so why not Sonic? But, I would want to watch a Sonic movie - SA2, for instance, had a dark story, but at the same time it, how do I put this, held itself back enough so any dark elements and undertones weren't too unfitting for the series. When I play that game, I still feel like I'm playing a Sonic game, just one that's darker than most entries in the series. I'd be fine if this hypothetical movie was like that. |

I agree completely. That would be a perfect sonic film in my opinion. |

Angel Island Act 1
|
I'm pretty excited for this. I'm tired of the lighthearted crap we've been getting recently, and it's a relief that the series may return to the tone that works with it best. I am a bit concerned about the movie being partly live-action, though. It should be all CGI and animated by Marza Animation Planet, the company responsible for the beautifully detailed animation in Sonic Unleashed's opening. |

I think it's pretty much been confirmed that it's most definitely a fake rumor. |

I have heard of this, but I only had a half empty/full feeling to it, since there wasn't much else to confirm it. I mean I wouldn't of been surprised, Sly and Ratchet are both getting movies so if Sonic was going to get one I wouldn't of been surprised. |

That's a fair point Vlad, although, the tone from the Sly trailer was quite light hearted, so would have presumed a Sonic film would be a light hearted endeavour too. |
