Seeing as the "Twitch Plays Pokemon" event is huge right now, that has me wondering; What would happen if someone requests Twitch to play another game?

It it were up to me, I have but a few ideas:

Chrono Trigger(SNES/PS/VC)

South Park: The Stick Of Truth(XB360/PS3/PC)

Sonic '06 (XB360)

Any of the many, many Final Fantasy Titles (NES-Present)

But yeah, those are my picks. Now, it's you guys' turn-What kind of game(s) would you like Twitch to play?

Suggest and speculate away!!!

Sonic '06 wouldn't work. Both because of a lack of emulation method and action games just won't work under these conditions. Plus it's hard enough to play normally with all the shoddy programming.

Not sure if Stick of Truth has a PC version, but similar reasons.

No ideas here. Actually wanting more of Twitch Plays is not a thing that I'll ever do.

SoT DOES have a Pc version. But hey, can't blame a guy for trying, right? Plus this is all just a big WHAT IF. Not a real thing here.

Plus, even though you don't have any ideas, thanks for replying Ludi.

How about Twitch plays Earthbound/Mother 2? Now that would be amusing to watch and see how many people freak out when we finally make it to Giygas. xD

You know something? THAT would actually be great. I can see everyone in the audience just screaming/saying "WTF AM I WATCHING NOW?" and a whole buncha other things.

Oh, got another suggestion-Retro City Rampage. The thought of many people playing this has SO many opportunities for interaction.

That, or any of the GTA games out right now.

Several hours of Niko Bellic flailing around in circles as he hops, punches and occasionally shoots if he somehow acquired a gun. Nope.

Honestly the only styles of game this has a chance of working in are top down RPGs and anything menu driven. I get the feeling the minute you move into three dimensions it's just too difficult to coordinate.

Really, the more buttons a game has the more difficult it'll become to play. Gameboy games are easy enough since it's 4 buttons and a D-pad.

Yeah basically what Ludi said. Pokemon works well and are more limited and menu driven. They are already several Twitch copycats who are failing miserably. For example, one tried to do Final Fantasy VII but seeing the game begins with a timed mission and you need to talk to an NPC in the middle of it, it quickly died off. GTA would not work because missions could get too complicated.

Earthbound can work. There may already be another copycat stream doing that already.

Granted Pokemon is entertaining me at the moment but Crystal is definitely burning me out. I don't want to see more Twitch Plays once Crystal is done.

Good vibes.
Yeah, I feel that only top-down turn-based RPGs would work with the twitch-plays format. So, Final Fantasy 1-6, Dragon Quest, that sort of thing.

. . .

I have been loving watching Twitch playing Pokémon and Kingdom Hearts, so much fun on those channels. :D But I can only watch it in small doses before it kills my soul a little.

What about puzzle games? I think something like Professor Layton or Phoenix Wright could work here. There's not much too complex about the gameplay, save for a few minor details.

Twitch Plays is basically something you can watch once and then just wait for the recaps on. It mostly only has entertaining moments while you can skip the rest of the floundering around.

It's only a matter of time before Crystal spawns its own memes anyway.

Oh god, menu hell. I can't see them successfully performing investigations let alone presenting evidence.

Might work with a smaller group, but with the popularity Red had? Not a chance. Instant Guilty verdicts for everyone.

keep it up guys!! Even if you disagree with me or any other ideas. Keep in mind this is just a big "What If" type of thing. I know that as popular as this is, there will never be another thing like this. I get that.

While I personally have little interest in Twitch Plays, I do feel like someone should act as the voice of reason in here when certain suggestions are made. Gives me something to do when nothing else is happening.

I'm personally of the opinion that the less popular a Twitch Plays stream is, the easier progress can be made. I'll never understand the people who want to never make progress.

To understand them is to understand all trolls. Anyway, Chaos, what do you think would work?

Final Fantasys up until 6 are good suggestions, Chrono Trigger is a pretty decent suggestion (although I'd argue that the more complex menus would be a hinderance), Earthbound might work.

I'd say Fire Emblem had a decent chance, but I can imagine it all going horribly wrong.

Anything requiring fast reflexes is out. Input lag won't allow it.

Fighters can work when programmed right. Twitch Plays Street Fighter II seemed to work okay.
