Here's a short semi-rant I made on the direction Sonic is headed in:

ok, I'll respond to your points in order.

  • this might be valid, but I've been in the fandom since Sonic 2 on the Sega Genesis. I like that the graphics have been moving with the times, but I'm not overly concerned if there's a presumed degradation of graphics from one game to the next. The fact that they still have games at all are very gratifying to me, which means that we still have some measure of relevance as far as the games are concerned, or in other words, we still have something that we can point at and say "look, these are our roots. They are still growing."

  • Plotline get you down? Considering that when it started (Sonic Adventure was not the beginning, Sonic The Hedgehog, published in 1991, was), the plotline has always been at its core, "get Robotnik because he did something that deserves comeuppance." I'm not sure I feel about this not being here in Sonic: Lost World, but I do get that they need to get new ideas out there, and there are things going on that Robotnik doesn't necessarily have to be the mastermind of.

  • I hate to break it to you, but a very large majority of the fanbase got its start because of the "Saturday Morning Cartoon plots" that you disparage. SatAM was an awesome show, and while its weekday cousin AoStH was a lot more cartoonish and not as serious (or grimdark) as SatAM, it was entertaining. Sonic: Lost World is a one shot episode. I encourage you to enjoy it for what it is, not for what you would make it to be.

Granted, the genre isn't what it used to be. It's certainly not getting any younger, and people like me (I'm thirty-one, dude) are probably at the far end of the spectrum. We remember what it used to be, and for whatever we remember it. Sega, I feel, is doing the right thing in trying to reach out to new members of the fanbase -the young'uns- and things like Sonic: Lost World and Sonic Boom is going to do what you and I cannot. It will help to keep our fanbase refreshed. They have to try out new things, explore new avenues of expression if this fanbase is going to keep rolling forward. I for one encourage it. There will always be the older things to point the way to the genre as a whole, but in order for the older fans to remain relevant, we have to support the younger fans, and there has to be a bridge between old and new, and a place of common ground that we can all agree on.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, but I'm not sure how well received they will be.

Why's that?

Good vibes.
It's probably due to a large portion of the Sonic fanbase thinking that an attempt to take Sonic too seriously results in games like Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06, which said portion believes has uninteresting stories and somewhat boring visuals.

Which I can understand. It's not necessarily my viewpoint, but I see where they're coming from. I think Sonic is best when it's like Colors, with a focus on a sense of humor.

I understand. I should've brought up in the video that Shadow The Hedgehog and '06 took the tone too far in the other direction. However, I feel like the series suffers worse when it goes to the opposite extreme, as it's been doing recently.
