PROPER INTRODUCTION POST SOON

New Sonic game coming for Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U. Also several other news but I'll squeeze that for another topic if someone wants to make it, regarding the CGI film and animated series. It looks like Sonic is going to be much more active again. Surprised that nobody beat me to posting this.

Toy maker Jazwares revealed at the Nuremberg toy fair that Sega is busy developing a brand new Sonic game for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U for 2015. Sega still has a Sonic game in production for Nintendo platforms, so it’s unknown at this point whether the exclusivity still holds. Either way, the new Sonic game will be coming to the three platforms sometime during 2015.

Amy's previous voice wasn't that listenable, either. Sonic's previous voice, on the other hand, is miles better than Roger Craig Smith. Griffith's voice was practically tailor-made of Sonic.

It's true that the voice doesn't always make the character, but it certainly doesn't help that as soon as I, or most people hear her voice, they're immediately reminded of a tiny mouse. not to mention you just can't have such a cute and cuddly voice for a character who is supposed to be the cool bad ass chick.

Can you imagine sonic sounding like big? or having shadow sound like eggman? or EGGMAN sounding like knuckles? can you imagine any of those characters sounding like that and still remaining the cool character we know them to be? I certainly can't. if sonic sounded anything like big I'd just throw my hands up and say "DONE."
Implying Amy has ever had a non-annoying voice.
Implying Amy was anything but "the girl" prior to this.
Implying Big doesn't have the greatest voice.
Shiggydiggy.

She's been like this since Free Riders. Plenty of time to adjust, dude.
I loved Amy's voice prior to this, Lisa did a great job and I absolutely loved Jennifer's rendition of Amy. it fit her perfectly.

In adventure and in Heroes Amy was very acrobatic and was also not just "a girl." She stood up to sonic when he was going to hurt her new robot friend.

Haven't heard Big.

That's just it, I CAN'T adjust, her voice sounds fudgeing awful and is just plain annoying. They've turned Amy from being just your standard fangirl to someone who is constantly jumping on sonic and pretty much wanting the D 24/7. All she does in the recent games is suck up to him.

I can't take her voice seriously either, she can't do serious, not to mention the writing in recent games has been terrible. "K-kick some b-butt for all of us!" I nearly cried from laughter.

Amy's voice kills her character. It kills the character they're trying to go for and it completely and utterly ruins Amy for me. I can't adjust to her voice because I can't stand how much it sounds like Minnie mouse. I get the game is for kids, and is marketed to kids, but damn, don't make it embarrassing for older fans to play.

Amy has been this way from Day 1. She has never not followed Sonic and was constantly jumping him. She even jumped Shadow in SA2 thinking he was Sonic. A few moments standing up to him doesn't exactly negate that. The only notable difference now is she's had less reasons to, mostly down to the fact that she just hasn't been present AT ALL.

That second one is a writing issue more than anything. You can't blame the voice actress for the lines she was given to read. I don't think there was a way to make that line sound good at all.

In all honesty as good as it was seeing Knuckles and Amy, their presence in the game was not required at all. They were basically wedged in there to fuel Sonic's despair moment near the end of the game. Which got shaken off pretty quick, I might add.

I'll agree that I can't blame the writing on the actress, but how she delivers those lines is entirely up to her or the voice director. Good writing couldn't save her either, her voice is just too girly.

Her voice sounds like she should be in a frilly dress, loses the hammer and put a big friggen bow on the top of her head. That's the only way that voice fits. If they just stop trying to make amy cool and just make her what she sounds like.

You're right when Amy was pretty much on sonic from day 1, but it's different now then it was then. I liked it when she said "Then you'll marry me?" In a cuter, more as a joking way then now when she's just sucking up to him all the time. Before she was more of sonic's friend who had a crush on him rather then someone who just follows him around all the time and sucks up to him.

"Voice dictates what a character should be, no exceptions."

Wrong.

Your voice is one thing you can't change about yourself. It's something you're born with. Yes, that doesn't exactly apply for Amy since she is a fictional character and her voice changes with her VAs, but think about it in-universe and assume that Amy was born with this voice. She could become anything she wanted and change pretty much everything about herself, from clothing to mannerisms, but she would still have that voice. Just because she has a girly voice does not mean she should be acting like one. Sure, it may clash with perceptions of what people have for a girl of her appearance, but it is what it is. To suggest otherwise is unfair to her.

Moving on to the other points, they've never really tried to make Amy cool pre-Boom. She's always been... well... the girl. Sure, she can take care of herself to a certain degree, but she's still plenty feminine in most regards. She has plush dolls in her room, she has hearts all over her stuff, she has tea and cake... all pretty girly things. And considering she's supposed to be 12, perfectly acceptable for a girl her age.

Also I don't think she was ever asking Sonic to marry her in a joking manner. She pretty much always means it. Sonic just brushes it off as though it were otherwise for the most part.

When a voice clashes with the design the character has, there's a problem. I don't want a character that is supposed to be threatening to have a cute voice. I don't want a character who is supposed to be cool to sound like a five year old. When you're trying to have a semi serious tone, such as someone dying and you have a voice that just sounds completely and utterly ridiculous, there's a problem. Bad writing or good writing, a good voice actor can make bad writing sound good, or at least tolerable.

That's what Amy's new VA sounds like, it sounds like a person is going high pitched simply because she's the girl. The VA'S she had before were rougher and 'tougher' than this new version, they had flexible voices that fit Amy's personality perfectly. I've always liked Amy because even though she was supposed to be the girl she never sounded like a girly girl like Princes Peach.

Character design as well as voice casting is very important. No, we can't change the voice we're born with, but people genuinely aren't supposed portray characters with obvious personalities. For anything video game related, Tv related, animation related...

Voices is one of the most IMPORTANT aspects. If you have a voice that clashes with the design of the character, you have a serious problem. For anything related to that, the voice absolutely defines the character. Of course that doesn't apply to real life, because we don't have a choice.

"voice dictates what a character should be, no exceptions." Is exactly right when it comes to picking a voice for a character. it's BECAUSE you have the choice that makes it right.

Amy was never really the girly girl anyway, sure she had girly things, but the voices she had before this one fit her perfectly. They weren't girly girly but they weren't a tough girl act either. It was the perfect mesh of the two. She could be fierce when she needed to and be cute at any other time. There was never a time when her voice clashed with her overall design. They could have put her into any outfit and I would have been totally fine, because the voice was so flexible.

But this voice is purely girly girl. This voice actor (or Sonic team) has the mentality that since Amy is a girl she needs to have a high squeaky sounding voice to shove down our throats that Amy is a girl.

Her voice does not fit her new persona anymore then it fit the regular design. It does not work with the direction they're trying to go with Amy and honestly I can't believe such professional people would make such a ludicrous design choice for a character that's been with us for over 10 years.

I personally don't get what's the big deal about Sonic's blue arms now. I have no problem with it.

This reminds me of a classic argument about Sonic's Eye Color, which I also found a bit ridiculous.
Be sure to check me out on Deviant Art to see some of my various drawings and artworks. http://hexidextrous.deviantart.com/

Also, I would like to ask a favor from for anyone who is my friend here.
If someday we meet in person in the near future, and I had recently done anything that would confirm that I had become a Brony (which as of now I am not one), such as if I had posted on a Pony-related fan-site, drawn a Pony-themed artwork, contributed to a Pony fanfic, or anything else along those lines. If I have done anything like that, I want you to punch me in the face without warning. This make sound like I'm joking, but I am absolutely serious about this. Ignore any future statements retracting this if I ever make any. Though if you do, please first confirm that it is me who is doing it, and not some Brony who is posing as me and wants to see me get punched. I do not wish to go down the path of the Bronies, and hopefully those of you reading this will help me so that it stays that way, if god forbid I ever even attempt it.
Thank you.

I think it's more or less something everyone is familiar with. The eyes deal was different since it was such an insignificant detail, but the blue arms is much more noticeable and sonic's arms have been the same way for over 20 years.

I have a tiny gripe with it, but it's nothing to argue about or flip tables for. Anyone getting angry at such a small detail needs to get over it

The games and show look awesome, no doubt about that. I've been pumped about them since they were announced. I have a weird perspective on the designs though. I like them all, especially Amy and Tails. I think the sports tape is a little much and I've even grown to like Knuckles' design. I like it alot actually. But for some weird reason, I just can't get over how weird those blue arms of Sonic's looks. When I watched the T.V show trailer, that's all I could look at and it's just too weird for me. His lankiness and scarf don't bug me, just his arms. Sometimes I wonder what's wrong with me :/

Same. I never really understood the reason for them, especially when I drew them. Now I have a excuse NOT to draw them.

It's an artistic style thing. Most people, myself included, thought Sonic's peach arms accentuated his belly well. However, the blue arms actually contrast with it. And while in some cases contrasts in colors can be a good thing, I don't find it so much so in this case. I mean, it's by no means a horrible design (hell, I really like Sonic's scarf and his quill style.), but I do have some reservations with it.

The voice is pretty adorable. I'm not sure how I feel about the design of Marine's twin sister though.
