It's such an awesome fighter game series, and has a lot of interesting characters. It also reminds me a lot of Skullgirls, which I also like a ton (even though Blazblue came first, but I still find it similar). My favorite character has to be Platinum The Trinity. If I have done anything like that, I want you to punch me in the face without warning. This make sound like I'm joking, but I am absolutely serious about this. Ignore any future statements retracting this if I ever make any. Though if you do, please first confirm that it is me who is doing it, and not some Brony who is posing as me and wants to see me get punched. I do not wish to go down the path of the Bronies, and hopefully those of you reading this will help me so that it stays that way, if god forbid I ever even attempt it. Thank you.

[Outrealm Vagabond] Posts: 4,994 Group: C Rank Legend Member #11,272 Joined: July 25, 2010	BURNING BUMP! Geddit? Like "Burning Bang" but with a bump? Cause I'm bumping... ah, never mind. So we've got at least four people around here currently playing Chrono Phantasma. Seems like as good a time as any to revive the thread. I had planned on learning Bang and Ragna recently, but tonight I've been mucking around with Bullet a lot. Her combos are all really satisfying to land if you can time them right, but most of the really good ones require specific postiioning. Also a lot of them involve her swapping which way she's facing so that can be confusing from time to time. I'm fairly used to it from practicing Valkenhayn's combos in the last game thankfully. Looks like I might have found my obligatory female character main. I just need to learn how to effectively close the gap with her and I should be good to go.

I'm mostly mucking about with Kagura in Abyss mode right now... although I -might- have broken something with picking up that Rainbow Aura. (Dragon's Blade-Mirage-Slaughter on hit, Dragon's Claw on block) Also: frustrating Gigant Assault is frustrating. Took me like seven tries to beat him with Hazama... damn monster cant be grabbed, frozen, lifestolen, etc... ~~though I've heard Azrael's Growler Field renders like 75% of its attacks ineffective.~~ Edited by RabidChoco, May 12 2014, 10:15 AM.

Admittedly Growler Field is one of my favourite things ever. It's fun throwing things back at people~ Like I mentioned elsewhere, only done it with Hakumen so far (first try too, I think). I've tried about 4 times with Bang (getting within the final quarter) and a few times with Tager. Man, this is going to be a nightmare with someone like Amane.

I love that he has a completely different playstyle from Hazama. Also been messing around and trying to relearn Noel. So far I'm really liking the changes they've made for this installment.

Pun intended, but also true. Bleh. She's forever in the "characters I'd like to learn, but too annoyed by to consider for more than a few moments" pile for me. Also yes, Terumi is a lot of fun. And this is from someone who barely knows what he's doing with him.

Most folks think he's a beginner friendly character with a lot of simple but effective combos. Bullet has some fun combos and is pretty straightfoward, but isn't particularly mobile (I feel like Lock-on might help with this but I'm not quite adept at using it yet). Has a lot of psuedo-command throws and additional attacks based on her Heat-Up state. Azrael is a slower powerhouse. Teleport dash step, has invincble frames on certain attacks, can absorb projectiles with Growler Field. Knocking foes around is a lot of fun. Need to utilise weak points The Terror creates effectively to get the most out of him. Amane is basically about zoning. He fights best at a distance and saps health from chip damage against his foes. The idea is you work on building up his Spiral gauge to Level 3, then use the attacks more carefully to maintain that level without over-heating it, using the chip damage the drills deal to siphon health. Really frail and has next to no defensive options though. Basically just that one Distrotion Drive he knows that has a few invincible frames on start up. He has fun combos, but pulling them off isn't the easiest task. Izayoi... well I haven't really played as her much yet. Has two modes. Combos seem to involve her zipping around using her command dash to keep them going. Builds her Gain-Art gauge by landing specials, which she can then use in Gain-Art mode for powered up attacks and additonal moves. Also Gundam references. Kagura is Guile. CHARGE ATTACKS. He's got a lot of range attacks wise and they hit hard, but stance changing can be tricky to get the hang of. Still, the few Kaguras I've faced online wiped the floor with me. His combos 2 stronk. Kokonoe has the best zoning in the game and fights well at pretty much any distance thanks to Graviton. I haven't got the hang of her yet but she seems like she's a lot of fun. Distortion Drives are kinda eh though. They have their uses but most aren't that damaging, except for Mecha Tager, which requires 100 heat to use and has a slow start up, so it's pretty easy to avoid. Unless there's a combo you can use to ensure a hit. Not sure yet. And that's everything I think I know.

They are just so awesome and fun to use, especially NU-13 with her Floating Sword Units and stuff. P

Flame Cage and Banishing Rays are good attacks to use... and I usually save my heat for a Golden Tager if I can knock Take-Mikazuchi out of charging its laser sweep. (Can do it about two times out of three, but that third time's the killer. Kokonoe ain't durable.) -jumping-A: "powpowpow..."-

I guess landing that Astral Heat did it. Feels bad since I didn't get to finish it, but also feels good. I still can't beat anyone even remotely advanced though. Sincerely, Ludi. Growler stops pretty much every attack Gigant knows in its tracks with the right timing. The punch, bite and background doom beam are the only things it doesn't effect. Still couldn't beat it though. Azrael so slow.

Rachel Alucard in MMD Madoka Magica with Platinum the Trinity. This works so well since they are both Magical Girls, and Platinum has the same Voice Actress as Madoka too!

Growler stops the bite as well. I get the feeling it'll probably also stop the punch if you can get it out fast enough. Too bad said punch is insanely fast. Since I last updated I've beaten it with five more characters: Azrael, Relius, Terumi, Makoto and, surprisingly enough, Tager. Tager is actually pretty well equipped to deal with most of its attacks thanks to Sledge Hammer. Basically just spam that to stun lock when up close, and the B variant is pretty good at plowing through certain attacks. Upwards Spark Bolt usually takes care of two out of three of those floating orbs when they're unleashed. When it's stunned, Overdrive -> Magna Tech Wheel -> Terra Break. Only thing that poses a real threat is that background Distortion Drive: If the cover lands far away from Tager's current position, good luck reaching it in time. Next attempted character will be Hazama. I came within the last sliver of health with him once. The lack of standard mobility options is a pain, but careful use of Oroburos usually gets you around stuff. Can also use it to remove those orbs and satalite things she sends out during her Overdrive. Definitely doable, but part luck based.

Theoretically she's quite suited to take on the Gigant with moves like Flame Cage and so on... but her lacking defense makes it harder, and I had way too much trouble with Izanami's laser-turrets. Still, nothing like knocking Take-Mikazuchi out of charging its laser, and breaking out the Golden Tager.

[Outrealm Vagabond] Posts: 4,994 Group: C Rank Legend Member #11,272 Joined: July 25, 2010	This time on "I Beat the Giant: The Thread": Added Ragna, Jin, Hazama, Nu-13, Mu-12, Kagura and Kokonoe to the list of characters I've managed to defeat it with. And possibly one other I feel like I might be forgetting, but I'm probably not. Got it down to an art almost: Find an exploitable attack for stun, figure out what attacks are useful for defence (orbs and satalites), selectively allow attacks to connect so Gigant can charge its beam. For most it's usually as simple as j.B > j.B -> j.C. Experiment and find out. Might throw together a list of tips when I can be bothered if anyone wants some help. EDIT: And on top of that add Carl, Platinum, Tsubaki and Izayoi. I'm now left with characters that have glaring flaws for this mode. This will be fuuuuun.
