Discuss characters, mains, the story, music, whatever you like. Just so long as it has to do with BlazBlue. Organising matches with fellow players is acceptable too. The latest instalment in the series is BlazBlue: Chronophantasma. Set to continue the story from the last game, Continuum Shift, it also features a new set of characters and a major system overhaul. Here's a run down ripped from the BlazBlue Wiki: Chronophantasma Changes General changes The character sprites have been redrawn and refined and several new songs were composed for the game. Most, if not all previous musical themes have been re-arranged. New game mechanics The following have been removed from BlazBlue as of Chronophantasma: - Gold Break Bursts - Guard Primers - Individual Storylines The following mechanics have been added to Chronophantasma: - Overdrive: Each character has a new mechanic called Overdrive. When activated, it gives enhanced strength and access to new moves unique to the character. Normally, Overdrive lasts 5 seconds; however, at lower health, it lasts around 15 seconds and freezes the timer. The bar to use Overdrive fills up over time, and can be used only when the bar is full. The Overdrive replaces the neutral stance Break Burst from the last game (in that it shares the same command: A+B+C+D), and also empties the bar used for the Burst, which now refills over time during the match, as opposed to the set amount of usable Bursts from the last game. - Crush Trigger: Crush Trigger acts as a replacement for the Guard Crush mechanics in the past games (Guard Libra and Guard Primers). By sacrificing 25% heat (or in Hakumen's case, two Magatama) then pressing A+B, it will allow players to crush the opponent's guard during some moves. While this does not work on the Barrier Guard, the Crush Trigger can be delayed/charged to inflict more damage to the barrier gauge. - Because of this, the Heat Gauge is now split up into four sections rather than two. Prior to Chronophantasma, Jin had a Heat Gauge with four sections, due to using 25% Heat to perform the D versions of his attacks. - The game will feature three main storylines to follow, with boss battles included, which will all come together for the true end. - Also, on the character select screen, when selecting a color palette for a character, players can see what the palettes look like, instead of having to guess from three colour swatches. - A new Glossary Mode is confirmed for the home console release. And here's the trailer: It's already out in Japan and the release date is March 25 for America. No word on an Australian release yet, but I'm hoping it's around the same time. Alright, have at it. Current mains are Bang Shishigami and Relius Clover. Better with Relius than I am with Bang at the moment. Looking into playing as Mu-12 as well. Wanted to play as Taokaka but couldn't get the hang of her. shrug

They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives. They have no place amongst decent and honest folk.

Benediction - Rising Fang (counter!) - Hungry Coils. I used to be decent with Hazama (i.e: I learned a decent combo and used it to my advantage), but I lost that skill with EXTEND. I tried picking him up again in anticipation for playing as Terumi in the next game but nope. Still, he's a fun character when you know what you're doing. And a lot of his combos feel really satisfying to pull off.

But I would be lying if I said that I didn't spend 5 minutes eyeballing this game every time I go to Gamestop. I always want to buy it, but I never know which installment is the first, or which I should start with, so I always get kinda intimidated and just get something else. BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND, probably, to get you started. It has an abridged version of the story in the first installment (Calamity Trigger), and all the characters released to Western audiences so far. And definitely all you need to get up to date story wise and has pretty much all the initial DLC on the disk. S'good. Also bear in mind that if you ever plan on playing Chronophantasma: The console release is PS3 exclusive. Which reminds me, I just know there's going to be something like Chronophantasma: EXTEND down the track. The extra character they add will be Jubei, obviously. That or someone else story-centric that showed up in CP. Don't know anything about the story yet. Still, kind of annoying that's the way things will probably go.

I'm planning on getting a PS3 soon anyways. Hopefully will have it by the time I get to that game. I love a good fighting game. Nothing can replace Dead or Alive in my heart but I'm open to trying new things. And I am actually one of the few people in the world who actually follows/likes/appreciates the story in fighting games, so yeah. I want to catch up in the story asap. My friend actually snagged me a copy of CSII for the PSP so he and I could play, and he whooped my butt. After that, I decided to mess around on the story campaign for a bit and I instantly fell in love with it. It got to the point where I had gotten so good he didn't even want to fight me anymore. Looking forward to Chronofantasma a lot, but it'd be cool if I knew more people personally who were into the series so I had someone to play with. coughcoughkittcakesyoubettergetthiscough I mainly play as Ragna, Jin, Hazama, and Tao, but mostly Tao these days. Dem air combos.
