The aura of the once-peaceful night was shattered by a high-pitched shriek that soon turned into a monstrous roar. A few miles beyond the city limits, a new horror rose from the ground and reared its head, screaming a challenge for those who dared to face it--out of bravery, foolishness, or mere defiance, the beast didn't care. All the best knew was Wrath and the desire to spread misery and destruction. It lumbered forward, first moving its front paws in unison and then its back paws. What began as a sort of off-balance limp soon became an unbreakable gallop. The beast had seen the lights of the city, and it intended to make each twinkling light of hope vanish forever. The beast intended to create carnage that would last for decades, in tribute to its horrible memory. If its purpose wasn't foul enough, the beast was a sight better left to the denizens of Hell. Black tar seemed to act as somewhat solidified skin, barely covering the dark red, bulging muscles of the beast. The tar dripped and oozed off of the muscle, only to crawl back and rejoin the disgusting mass. Its long teeth and claws were yellowed and cracked--appearing to be centuries old and still as deadly as the moment of its conception. Its eyes glowed a same terrible yellow, lacking pupils or irises or anything remotely distinguishable about an eye--save for the glowing shape. And on various points of its body (forehead, shoulders, back) the symbol of Wrath gleamed a cruel scarlet. If the beast were to be compared to an earthly creature, it would share similarities to a hyena and a chimera. The tail was spiked (instead of being a snake's head) and broad wings sagged to the ground. However, the wings were limp and tattered: unsuitable for flight. But the razor-sharp edges indicated that those apparently useless limbs could slice people in half. This was the beast that galloped towards the city. The peaceful night was shattered by the deafening roar. The people in tbe streets stopped, frozen with terror. Something was going to happen in the city, but no one could say what. whispers were heard. "What the hell was that!?" "Daddy, I'm scared!" "Somebody call animal control!" Over time, the night continued, but the peace had been shattered. Everyone could feel the uneasy terror in the air. Near the city limits, footsteps thudded in the darkness. The grey wolf ran towards the sound of the beast, his heart racing faster with every step. He had dealt with such creatures befire, and knew exactly what it was: Demon His nostrils were filled with its scent, his very being tensed in preparation for battle. He ran onwards, over the next rise, until suddenly, there it was. It was just as disgusting as he imagined, and more. He was reviled at the thought that he could ever come from such hatred and violence as this. The demon was enraged, and there was no telling what an enraged demon would do. He had better make this quick. |

The demon continued racing towards the city, slimy dark red tongue hanging out of its mouth. It could almost taste the blood it would spill, and see the destruction it would cause. But then it sensed another presence. The beast slid to a stop, flicking its tail. It didn't seem to see Ezekial, but it smelled him. It raised its wings and roared again, snapping its teeth and drooling hungrily. |

As the beast stopped, Ezekial tensed. It knew he was there, but it doesn't know where. That was the good news. It's hesitation would be the perfect time to strike! It would never know what hit it. Ezekial leaped up from his hiding place and dashed towards the demon. With luck, he would be able to climb on to its back and cut off its head from there. Of course, he made the mistake of not even considering if it was a shape-shifter. |

The demon beast whirled about anxiously, trying to figure out where the scent was coming from. When it couldn't pinpoint the location of its attacker, it roared again and spread its wings. The beast spun around, slashing the air; but in spite of this precaution, it still felt someone on its back. At that point, the demon beast panicked. It jumped and kicked, clawing at itself desperately. It moves around so much, it's hard to keep your footing on it. Ezekial may end up striking one of the symbols instead of the head... |

As fast as he wanted to be, he just wasn't fast enough. Without warning, the demon bucked under him. Ezekial was forced to grab on to the demon's neck to avoid falling and being trampled. It's panicked thrashing only made it worse; he barely twisted away in time to avoid being slashed by one of its claws. Well, this turned out great,The wolf thought to himself, somehow finding the time to roll his eyes amidst the chaos. He gripped the the back even tighter and dared to release one hand. With one hand hanging on even tighter than before, the other lit itself ablaze wiith a strange blue flame. The air grew cold, ack Ezekial's hand was quickly encased in a hard pack of ice with a razor sharp edge. Suddenly, his grip slipped. He reached out to strike, but his attack only sliced through the odd runes on its back, The beast kicked once again, and he was sent flying behind it. He landed in a heap behind the demon. |

The beast gave a pained roar that soon escalated to a shriek once more. And then it… collapsed. Its awful body shuddered as black, foul-smelling liquid spurted from between its jaws and pooled onto the ground. The demon beast seemed to be deflating in a way, the muscles crumbling into dirt and the tar-like skin just pooling in the earth. When it seemed like the beast was dead, a small area bubbled; then, a small figure rose. It was covered in the tar, but it soon tried to wipe the tar away from its face. It stumbled around helplessly, looking lost and dazed. Upon closer inspection, the figure was revealed to be a girl—a hedgehog-cat hybrid whose fur was all kinds of shades of gray. She looked at her trembling hands and arms before doubling over and puking up a small stone. She looked at it fearfully before looking all around. When she didn’t recognize any of her surroundings, she whimpered softly and hugged herself. |

Ezekial rolled over and leaped to his feet. Stupid!, he thought to himself. The element of surprise was lost to him, and now the beast would know exactly where he was. He readied his blade hand and- The demon was gone. In it's place, all he could find was a pool of black tar and a a strange girl. She was shaking all over and struggling to free herself from the tar covering her body. Ezekial lowered his guard. He had never expected to find this. Was this the thing he was trying to kill? It didn't seem like it could be the same disgusting monster ftom just a moment ago. All she seemed to be... was scared. He took a step toward her, but faltered. He wasn't sure what he could do. It seemed ridiculous to try and comfort the thing he had just tried to kill. But there it- no, there she was, whimpering in fear. He took another step forward, and another one with less hesitation in each step he took. Soon, he was just feet away from her, with nothing but the awkjward silence to encourage him to speak. The girl staggers around, breaths coming in quick gasps. "Woah, woah, wooooaaaahhhh. Okay. Okay! Okay. Calm down, Grey. Just calm down. Nothing t-too bad. Just a... place where I have no idea where I am... Y-yeah... Oh gosh, this stuff is so gross! Ew ew ew ew!" Without much success, the girl starts trying to pull the clumps of tar off of her. She's dressed in a rather poor manner... In a shabby, oversized t-shirt that reached her knees. She doesn't notice Ezekial before he speaks. And after that, she gives a yowl of surprise and looses her footing--falling into the muck again. She groans pitifully, grimacing. "... I'm covered in this stuff and I have no idea where I am. No... I'm not okay." (( Do you believe Ezekial would feel the smallest bit of aura from the stone? Also, I guess I made Grey a sort of 'catalyst' character. She can accentuate the power of people/objects. )) |

He looked towards the puddle of tar and back at the girl once again. The entire situation was completely unexpected, though he was thankful that there didn't seem to be any apparent danger. The tar was emitting a small bit of some strange aura, but that could only be whatever turned her this way. It was only obvious that he didn't go near it until he could figure out what it did. That only left her to deal with. Ezekial reached out to the girl. Sure, this was about the most akward situation that he could be in, but that was only if he didn't tell her about what just happened. Unfortunately for him, he'd have to figure out the best way to tell her soon. Then there was the fact that she didn't know what happened in the first place. If she doesn't know, then maybe there was a way to figure out what happened. "What was the last thing you remember?" he asked her. |

The female hybrid blinks, staring up at the wolf tiredly. Her long ears flick forwards before twitching. "Well... It all started when I woke up hungry. I mean, that alone isn't unusual, because I'm always hungry--and that's because of how I was created, and--wait a minute." The girl stands now--her body shaky but her expression firm. She points at Ezekial and narrows her eyes. "How do I know whether I can somewhat trust you? You could be a demon. I mean, I am--and I can look normal like this. I mean, I didn't mean to look mortal--that was an accident. B-but still! That just proves my point. You just so happen to be out here all alone? Talk about suspicious..." The girl pouts, her fangs sliding over her lips. They're fairly small and--admittedly--cute-looking. She folds her arms as she waits for answers. |

Ezekial wasn't fazed. He has already seen her abilities (or so he believed,) and didn't see her as too much of a threat. There were much more dangerous things out there than a minor demon like her. Her fangs even made her seem less of a threat, somehow. Anyway, he was just a bit more concerned with what was going on. Being honest wouldn't hurt. "Yes," he relented, "I'm a demon, but I'm not going to hurt you. I only want to know what was going on." He gestured towards the city in the distance as he took a seat next to her. "I heard you roaring from over there. In fact, almost everyone did. You would have caused a panic if everyone hadn't decided that they were just hearing things. It's funny how that works. "Anyway, I came so I could investigate the noise" Suddenly, it hit him. It wasn't likely that he was the only one who recognized the sound for what it was. "We should go somewhere else." he said, a heavy feeling of urgency on his words. "Now." |

Grey sticks out her tongue, making a grossed-out face as the wolf sat beside her in the muck. Soon enough, her eyes wander again. "... You see that stone?" she asks, pointing to a oddly round and perfect-looking stone of medium size. "I was tricked into eating it. I don't want to touch it now... but it made me sick. And I guess... this happened. I just remember getting really angry..." She sighs, ears falling flat in dismay. "I'm still so hungry..." At the sound of urgency, her ears perk up again. "What's up? You look really serious--?" She waves her tail lightly, staring at Ezekial--staring until her eyes narrow and she tenses. She looks so strange--annoyed and elated at the same time. "..... Ezekial looked over to the hybrid again. He hadn't really looked at her, since she had been covered in that black slime, but now that he actually looked at her, she did look a little familiar... But that could wait. Right now, he couldn't shake the feeling that he should get her out of here. He blinked, shook his head, and stood up, brushing away what he could. "Seriously, though," he said, "I really don't think we should stay here. You weren't exactly silent when you... uh... transformed. I can't be the only one who heard it, and not everyone will be as kind." He stretched out his hand to help her out of the muck. "Are you staying anywhere nearby?" |

(( Replies will be slow, because life is a beautiful thing. )) The girl rolls her eyes a little, but she secretly appreciates the wolf's help. She stands with his help, sighing a little. The girl seems to be extremely fond of expressions--now she has her ears perked forward and an eyebrow raised. "... Sure," she comments, her skepticism clear in her tone. Still, the hybrid follows after the stranger as she looks around curiously. "Of course not. I've never been here before... It's not like I showed up here on purpose, you know. Not of my own will, anyway..." |
