Nothing can be seen, save for your very own hands in front of you. A light fog floats aimlessly, going nowhere and forming from nothingness. "These next challenges will test your inner strength. Most do not pass the first Trail because they simply do not know whom they truly are, what monstrous demons they hide, what evil beings they lock away within themselves." The sound of footsteps could be heard, slow, very slow, and steady are their pace as each step echoes all around you. "You can not hide yourself here. Your very core is exposed, your very soul is open. Your first challenge is yourself. Face your own evil, or let it destroy. You know what is at stake should you fail. Now, face your darkness..." ((Make your intro post, which can be as elaborate as you wish, from how you ended up in these trails or simply just unaware. Either way, after your intro post and your response to the speaker, the challenge will begin.))

His mind was shrouded with possibilities on how he came about such a place to begin with. Even with his ability to see clearly even in the darkest of regions, he couldn't see 2 feet in front of him. What baffled his mind was that his 4 edged halberd remained held within his paws. Who or whatever brought him here apparently didn't wish to bring things to an abrupt end for the avian feline. Some of his numerous questions would be answered moments after he acquainted himself with this bleak place. His pointed white feathered ears twitched in reaction to the faint sound of footsteps. It seemed to be coming from all directions and the hybrid couldn't quite pinpoint its location. Then the voice begin to make itself known, the words not phasing the warrior. Tharros simply sighed in slight annoyance. Whatever it was, he wanted to dispose of it properly and be on his way. Something was amiss within this unknown place and the hybrid didn't intend to stick around.

It landed in a crouch position, head lowered as its wings covered most of its body, as if hiding itself from Tharros. It slowly stood up as it unfolded its wings and tucked them behind its back. This griffin would look exactly like Tharros, with a minor difference. Its fur and feathers were black. From clothing to eye color, this griffin match ed Tharros perfectly. As well, his size was larger than Tharros, slightly towering over him once it reached its full height. It tilted its head a bit as it looked at Tharros for a moment. "Pride..." He spoke, pausing as he tilted his head to the other side. "How much of it can you handle?" He asked, crossing his arms as he fixed his head to straighten upright. "How much of its sin can you consume both it turns into rage... Perhaps insanity..." He stopped speaking as his wings opened up and flapped once, creating a small gust of wind to whip by Tharros. With that said he allowed this pause in his speech to let the smaller griffin speak if he wished to.

He had the inate sense something was approaching fast. As such, he swiftly took a step back not even a second before the darker Griffin made his entry. The prideful warrior stared warily at the figure, labeling him as a standard enemy. His large paw gripped the center of his 4 edged halberd as he prepared himself for an attack. However, as this avian feline showed his face, Tharros hesitated. The possibility of who this could be caused him to freeze. This area, the Griffin's dark doppelganger, the fact this being new of his pride empowerment; there was little doubt this was the work of a certain sorcerer. Although what baffled the ancient warrior was the fact he continued to draw breath. He wasn't on the best of terms Malefor those many centuries ago. Unless of course he was attempting to convince him back into the legion, but his tactics were odd. Tharros came to a conclusion his initial assumption was incorrect and he would withold attacking until he knew more about this foe. He sturdily retained his fighting stance, even with the gust of wind that caused his fur and feathers to whip about for a number of moments. Once it subsided, he chose to speak. "As much as necessary. It is a crucial component of mine, and I intend to keep it balanced. Now, a question for yourself; who are you?" He sternly asked, seemingly undeterred at the fact this hybrid shared the same tone in voice as well as the identical dull and rigid stare. His features were similar as well, albeit darker and somewhat eerie looking. This opponents did indeed bring some uneasiness to Tharros, but that didn't mean he wasn't ready to fight his way to victory.

He shook his head a bit, delighting in this moment of knowing something his opponent did not. Once his pride was a bit satisfied he spoke. "If you were not me, I'd insult your intelligence. However, given this dull and darken setting, I'll excuse your lack of vision from seeing who I am... If you haven't gathered it by now, I'm you. A stronger, more powerful you. I'm you if you'd give yourself to this power you boast in, yet fear it at the same time. Face it, you fear loosing the one thing that gives you an advantage. You fear that your greatest attribute will turn into your greatest self destruction path... What pride do you really have if you can not embrace it fully?" He asked, uncrossing his arms as he became more tensed and focus. He even moved his foot back, as if he was about to move, maybe even launch himself towards Tharros.

This lasted for a number of moments and the Griffin let out a few sighs to collect himself. He looked at the doppelganger with the most smug of expressions. "And to think I was fooled into believing you were another." he started, clearing his throat a number of times. "You do indeed resemble me physically, but if we were as alike as you claim, you would not spout such nonsense." he retorted, deep gold eyes glaring at the false Griffin. "As stated previously, I intend to keep this power balanced and not allow it to consume me. The only way this power will be lost is through acts of humility, and if you are anything like me as you state, you should be aware of how unlikely that is. Now, I will humor you. You say you are more powerful?" he questioned. At this moment, he tail reached out and coiled itself around his weapon's center and held it behind the warrior, where he promptly crossed his robust brown furred arms over his white feathered chest. "Perhaps I will allow you to show me, although it seems such an aspect is already being considered." he stated, taking note of the doppelganger's stance. If the alternate Griffin were to make a move, Tharros would swiftly react despite his leisurely stance

That is what you fear loosing." He informs him. As he spoke a greenish-wavy aura began to surround him. His eyes became a crazed purple color as the presence of intense lunacy started to stir within him. Suddenly a short boom escaped him, launching forward a hologram version of himself that soared towards Tharros in a berserker fashion. It flailed its mighty arms and snared while drool slobbed all over the place. This newly formed griffin was beastly, its wings shredded and rough while its hair and main stretched far and spread out in a crazed manner. Pure mindless and savage eyes locked on Tharros for one intent... Kill the griffin; even when he stopped moving, devour his entire being.

The Griffin instantly retained his watchful, stern and rigid disposition and shuffled his taloned feet to situate himself in a more battle ready stance. His large paws curled into tight and ready fists. He raised his tail up, then thrust it back down, panting the downward facing dagger shaped spike into the ground and keeping the weapon upright. While Tharros was confident in his abilities to overcome foes, he was wise enough to never underestimate them. Of course this wasn't the case all the time as his pride empowerment was a bit contradicting at times, but it worked in his favor most of the time. His alert eyes watched as another fake emerged itself from the impostor, charging headstrong towards the avian feline. Tharros was swiftly able to determine this new opponent was all attack with little strategy or battle plan; an easy obstacle to overcome. "I must simply await the proper time to evade, then counterattack with unyielding force. The perhaps I can turn my attention to the more prominent threat." the Griffin thought to himself. He would watch the erratic movements and attempt to gather a pattern to react off of. If all else failed, he had an abundance of defensive options at his disposal. One of the massive arms came down at Tharros and given the nature of his swings, such a pattern was impossible to detect. Regardless, he was far from lost on what to do. He crossed his arms above his head to deflect one blow and cause their limbs to connect in a clash of brute force. This seemed to leave him open for a strike from the other arm, but Tharros' wings would deal with that. Not wasting any time, he abruptly sent one of his white feathered knees upwards and towards the hologram's gut with tremendous force, likely stunning him at the least.

Chaos Emerald Posts: 691 Group: S Rank Knight Member #746 Joined: March 19, 2007	It grunted loudly, however it seemed like it was a grunt of pleasure verses pain, as if it enjoyed the blow that knocked the wind out of it. It stumbled back about two paces then widen its eyes as it snarled again. "Weak knees, weakness is your disease." It hissed, then leaped forward as it spun its body like a tornado, lashing out it left leg while preforming this spinning kick. The one who summoned this chaotic griffin didn't bother moving. He staid in his exact position and didn't even move an inch. Only his eyes followed the battle being displayed, as if studying every move they both made. Oddly enough, another green aura started to surround the griffin who was on 'stand by.'

He watched the copy begin to spin and took a step back in preparation, planting his taloned feet into the ground readying himself for the next attack. He watched as the leg extended, and in an impressive feat of reflexes and swift thinking, he reached behind him to grasp one of the shafts of his weapon. Freeing it from the ground with a hefty pull, he brought it out in front of him, using the momentum from the pull to take a swing at his foe, aiming one of the ax blades at the outstretched foot. Since not much power was used in this attack, Tharros mainly intended for the velocity of his opponent to contribute to much of the force.
