Hydrocity Act 1

Just posting these here, hoping for some critiques. I don't really draw Sonic related stuff and am more of a pokemon artist than anything. Spoiler: click to toggle A friend of mine said that if he could be any animal, he'd be a Holland Lop, so I drew him as a lopunny (which he calls a "rabbit with thunder-thighs"), using the colors of said rabbit in an image he showed us. I decided to make it funnier by adding in the shiny female lopunny approaching him as she is. I showed it to him and said, "Hey, having 'thunder-thighs' isn't so bad now is it?" Spoiler: click to toggle Drew this for a site known as Vdex (the pokemon party in my sigature actually links to this site). Last year, November to be exact, Vdex had it's 4th anniversary and celebrated with an event in which you catch and evolve as many pokemon as you can before the end of the month, but the creature that appears before you (Trollmew) would sometimes appear, cursing you with some kind of negative effect like halving catch rates, negating idle experience, etc. You would collect points for collecting pokemon, which could be turned in for prizes when the event was over. Some of the prizes were recolored mew sprites, and some had crowns on them. Well, someone went ad made a sprite with Trollmew wearing the same kind of crown the prize mews were wearing. This image resulted in me seeing it. The text that appears around it are the various trolling techniques he'd pull on unsuspecting players. Spoiler: click to toggle I drew this as a Christmas gift for a friend of mine. The reason the Jynx and and Gardevoir look so different is because they are our characters (Shawni and Curly, respectively). When I showed this to her, she asked me, "Why did you make the Sawsbuck have a summer coat and not a winter coat?" I replied, not exactly having a good reason in mind other than an excuse to draw CHristmas lights on a Sawsbuck's leafy-green antlers, "Because somewhere out there, someone is celebrating a green Christmas". Spoiler: click to toggle This is a two year old pic I did, once again, for Vdex. Each month during 2012, one of the mystery boxes would contain a scroll that would convert a pokemon into a "zodiacmon", a pokemon based on a sign of the zodiac. I figured it would be cool to draw a zodiac chart containing all of the pokemon released throughout the year, and so I did. It actually took me around 9 days to make this because I did not, and still don't, own a tablet, so I had to draw each individual "part" (I.E. each zodiacmon) on paper, scan it, trace over it in photoshop with the mouse (I now use SAI, which I used for the lineart in the previous 3 pics), color and shade it. Needless to say, it was easy getting burned out staring at a computer screen for hours on end. The colors are representative of the elements of each zodiac sign: Fire (Red), Earth (Green), Air (Yellow) and Water (Blue). The purple in the middle is spirit. For the backgrounds, I just fiddled with photoshop's rendering/artistic filters and made each element's style look how I thought they'd best resemble their respective element. As for the gothitelle in the middle, it's there mostly for flavor since they are pokemon who can tell the future and read the stars (the solrock and lunatone are there for the same reason: flavor, especially considering the zodiac signs are based on constellations. XD). If you would like to see larger versions of the zodiacmon, or more of my work, check out the links in the description here: http://metalshadowoverlord.deviantart.com/art/Zodiacmon-Chart-342489206 |
