When she had signed up for this tournament, Blaire had expected to fight in great arenas. Battlefields that would test her mettle and abilities, stadiums that would make her think on her feet and truly challenge her. And of course, they had to be competently designed. So far, every arena she had fought in had succeeded in doing that. Well, except for the last place she had fought in. However, at least that ‘battlefield’ was actually complete. Standing in the shadows of a large gatehouse, the young husky beheld a fortress that was a relic of an era long gone, frozen in time in the midst of its construction. A moat that should have been flowing with water laid bone dry. The stone walls of the gatehouse were surrounded by scaffolding and there were tools of all kinds, ranging from hammers and nails, to chisels and files, lying haphazardly on the framework. Buckets of wet mortar besides bricks were also around, inviting those with a less graceful equilibrium to trip all over them. Blaire slapped a palm to the side of her head, rolling her eyes. “Are you kidding me? They couldn’t finish this before the tournament started? Really?” She let out a sigh and brushed a tuff of fur from her eyes. “Well, there’s not much I can do about it now. I only hope this castle has enough of its framework done and it won’t fall on us during the fight. Because…” she slowly raised her head to look up at the massive fortress. “I really don’t want to get crushed…” The canine glanced around the area, wondering where her opponent was – they should have been here by now. Thinking back, she recalled that her opponent this time would once again be someone she had faced in a prior match, one Ralean Sivth as she recalled. However, with said opponent not even in the arena right now, the match was put on hold until she could get here. If she even got here at all. Blaire crossed her arms over her chest. “What on Mobius could have happened?” If she had a watch, the husky would have been checking it right about now. Her ear twitched as she heard a voice bellow out all throughout the stadium; “Attention combatants! There will be a slight change in the match-up for this fight.” The canine tilted her head to the side, her hands on her hips. “By ‘change’ what are they talking about?” “Ralean Sivth will not be participating in this match,” the voice boomed out over the arena, to which Blaire arched an eye brow at this new piece of information. “Instead, Blaire Field’s new opponent shall be APT-001C Gespenst Type-AI, also known as ‘Wraith’." “Wraith, eh? Well,” she began with a smug grin, crossing her arms over her chest. “This oughta be very interesting.” |

The explosions cut through the distant fog, lighting up the area as they detonate, taking chunks of the structure with them. Wraith scans the area to see if it can spot its foe among the chaos. No luck. She's nowhere to be seen. Though that's not entirely unexpected. "No point in letting up the pace now. Just charge right through to victory!" The movement systems on the mech roar into action once more as it quickly propels itself back towards the bridge. As it gets closer the copious amounts of dust kicked up from its attack becomes apparent. There was no telling whether Blaire was within it or somewhere on the other side completely unscathed. Whatever the case, Wraith wasn't done just yet. At roughly two metres before reaching the area were the bridge stood the mech's thrusters flare as it launches itself off the ground and high into the air overhead. The bird's eye view didn't help much. The mix of dust and fog kept the area obscured to anyone without some sort of enhanced vision. Looked like it was going to be a complete shot in the dark. At the apex of its jump the mech flips and twists into a kicking position with its right foot facing forward in front of it, aimed directly at the center of the dust cloud. "Let's see you stop this one! GESPENST KIIIICK!!" The mech shoots towards its target not unlike a shooting star. The kick would hit fast and hard... but there was no telling what it was currently aimed at. What was certain is anything caught underneath when it makes impact would be in for a world of hurt. If the bridge was still standing it was likely it wouldn't be after the impact. As for the husky, unless she had some sort of trick up her sleeve or wasn't anywhere near where it was aimed, this would certainly spell the end of the match for her. ---------- EN Reserves: 170/200 S.Missile Ammo: 4/5 |

Her teeth clenched with the sharp pain she was feeling, Blaire slowly rose to her feet. The profuse amount of dust that was still in the air, interspersed with the thickening miasma, was making it nearly impossible to see anything. The grime stung her eyes and the husky let out a raspy cough to clear her lungs. “Okay, focus Blaire, focus! Find a hammer or something to help you take down Wraith and then do so!” As the dust slowly began to settle, the Mobian found it easier to see, but not by much. By now, the fog was so thick that she could just barely see a couple feet in front of her. And because she had gotten so disoriented during the chaos of those explosions and the ensuing fall of the bridge, she was no longer sure which direction the scaffolding she had targeted was in. The only thing she could do now was pick a direction and go with it, hoping it would lead her the way she wanted… and that she wouldn’t be walking right into an attack from her opponent. Caution would be key here. Blaire had to take it slow as she trudged up the side of the dry moat, carefully weaving around fragments of the broken bridge. With her back as injured as it was, any sudden movement aggravated it to no end. And as she reached the top of the ditch, wondering just how she was going to do anything to defeat her foe, her ears stiffened with the mistakable sound of a voice… a voice that was coming from behind her. Let's see you stop this one! GESPENST KIIIICK!! Blaire’s first instinct of course had been to dodge. She tried leaping to the side, praying that her normally fantastic dexterity wouldn’t let her down. She tensed up as the pain flared. That had been enough to stop her jump in mid-air, sending her back to the ground in a maladroit matter. She coughed up some of the dust that had been kicked up from her fall as she forced herself to her hands and knees. Feeling dazed, the Mobian slowly rose her head… and the last thing she saw before everything went dark was a metal foot heading right towards her. SNAP! |

The attack was as swift as it was brutal, slamming the husky downwards into the ground and kicking up another plume of dust. The sheer force of the impact had buried her partially in the dirt and the loud snap rang out loud and clear to Wraith. Taking a step back as the dust settled, the mech glances down to inspect the damage. "Shit... I hope that wasn't enough to kill her..." Marcus mutters in a concerned tone. Part of him hoped she would have been nowhere near where he was aiming... but he was well aware that this would be the result otherwise. The mech bends down to retrieve the Mobian from the dirt, carefully cradling her in its arms. Though faint, she's definitely breathing. That was a slight relief at least. While serious about winning he didn't want to be responsible for a contestant's death. Something he felt had come too close a few times now. Then again, that was what the Wraith was made for. Wraith begins to move up and out of the moat, soon stepping out of the gradually thinner veil of dust and fog. Those who had gathered around to witness the fight soon move out of its way as they spot the battered opponent it was carrying. The fight was over and superior fire-power had won the day once again. "So much for that melee oriented load-out. I guess bullets and bombs really are stronger than the sword... tch." Once the path was clear Wraith's movement systems fired up again, heading back towards the lobby. For now Marcus' main priority was getting Blaire back to the sick bay so she could be patched up. They had some miraculous healing techniques so he was certain she would be fine. But it was best to get her there sooner rather than later. The glow of the mech's thrusters soon fade into the fog, closing the curtain on yet another match. [=SB= Tournament: Match O] END |
