Posts: 3,252 Group: =SB= Kings Member #9,868 Joined: March 28, 2009	To say this one came completely out of nowhere is an understatement but I'm sure a few fanfic writers who have been dreaming about a 'Hyrule War' for all these years will be happy. You got the gameplay style of Dynasty Warriors with the locations and characters form the Legends of Zelda. Still early in development but it is certainly something to look forward to next year.

Best friend who loves Zelda has zero interest in Dynasty Warriors, so he told me to play it for him. Hah.

It would be interesting if they had characters from the other species, such as Gorons, Zoras, Good Garudos , Heck maybe even a Kokiri kid (Dynasty Warriors had kid characters after all, That girl with the fans was my favourite to play as) Since the trailer showed a King Dodongo we can assume that this game takes place around the era of Ocarina of Time. Failing that if this game has online it will probably fall back to the Four Swords mentality and just have Links of various colours.

Every character featured in the Dynasty Warriors series had some sort of historical significance, at least as far as the Romance of the Three Kingdoms was concerned. They're not going to be creating random ones based on NPCs. Besides which, Kokori kids never leave the forest. That's their whole shitck. The trailer also showed Bokoblins as seen in their Skyward Sword appearance as foot-soldiers, meaning we can assume nothing about era. Based on Link's design it might have something to do with that one manga based around a time where a war was occuring, but that's all speculation at this point. I don't know if we should expect this to be a proper entry story wise, or if it will be one of those "let's take a bunch of stuff from all over the place and mash it together in one big game, giving it an original non-canon story" things ala the Dynasty Warriors: Gundam series. It's not like the Zelda series has that many recorded wars to cover. I'd think there would be more characters than Link to chose from, but I'm at a loss as to who. Anyone who is reoccurring in some form with a major role is probably a good bet, though. Fen: Dunno if I'm a huge "Dynasty Warriors nerd", but I'm a pretty big fan of the series, yes. Assumption was right.

It reminds me of a bit in Hyrule Historia where it mentioned Link joining them. I forget which Link it was though, could be multiple, but I'm certain a LTTP's was one of them? But yeah, story-wise, I'm not too sure if we should be thinking too much about involving the timeline into this. It's a spin-off, so it could be non-canon. As of right now, it doesn't even have Legend of Zelda in the title, though chances are it probably will. But hmm, yeah, I'm at a loss who other characters would be. Interesting points made.

AKA this guy While I haven't read it myself, it mentions the only major war I can think of in the Zelda timeline. That based on the chosen design of certain enemies makes me think this could be what the game covers. And I'd be all for it. There's a lot they could flesh out and turn into a game. Could even create a bunch of unique characters to play as who would have lived in that time. It's probably safe to assume the non-canon spin-off route is the correct one, though. Oh well~
