Saw! Super hyped! Pretty big deal that we get a NA confirmation right at revelation!

Just got Tales of Graces and my PS3 recently. Hoping to get the Xillia games down the line. With the Tales of Symphonia HD collection, that will be a total six Tales game I have to get. But pretty excited.

The guy's design is kind of meh though to me. Like the girl's design though.

^ Graces f was an amazing introduction to the series for me. I'm sure you'll love it.

Zestria looks alright. Character designs are alright. The chances of me picking it up are alright.

That's the game that introduced me to the series too. It was so much fun all the way through, kept me wanting more.

I loved Tales of Vesperia, been playing Abyss on my 3DS every now and then. How was Xillia? Will this be next gen only? Because I prob won't be getting either console for awhile.

Heh, about to start Graces! Abyss and Symphonia (And the sequel but let's not talk about that) are the only ones I played, although haven't played the latter in ages. Abyss is my favorite of the Tales games so far.

@Kimmiechao: Zestiria is PS3 only.

. . .

Tales of Symphonia introduced me to the Tales series, which I loved. I played the subsequent Tales of games and this new one looks absolutely gorgeous. I am dying to get my hands on it to give it a whirl.

As long as the story telling is fantastic, I don't mind "all right" character design. To be honest most J-RPGs tend to run on the same format: Spikey Haired rather dense team leader, token girl, token geek, token fan-girl, token stoic silent type. The characters are usually the same but as long as the story they're in is immersing me and well told I can let that sort of thing slide.

It's really impressive the difference between Graces(the first PS3 Tales game) and then seeing this wow. (Yes, Graces was originally a Wii game but still).

I like the focus on the more dragon and midevial-like tone of the game. Still kind of meh on Slay's design but Alicia's.

Well I finally got Xillia and I'm liking it more than Graces. I can't say too much on the story so far though because I'm not very far into it. I really did like Graces story though. The combat in Xillia is better, more refined. Also more dialogue is spoken than written. Not to mention the obvious large graphic upgrade.

Wait that isn't about Zestiria haha.

Though great to hear. I'm kind of meh on Graces but I plan on starting Xillia after playing through the Lightning trilogy.

Well we were already talking about Graces and Xillia. I'm definitely going to buy Zestiria. It seems the Tales of series is the only consistent series that has a good jrpg flair like before. Other jrpgs have been turned into watered down action rpgs.

I hope more info about Zesteria comes soon.
Hmmm on that site you linked to with the screen shots they discuss some interesting things. They say that it's highly possible the game will be fully open world with seamless battles and no separate arenas. What do you think of this? I like the dragons and medievalish style. We just don't know much but those two things would be a big change to the series.

Hmm I heard about a more open world but not the separate part. Tales in real time sounds like a Xenoblade like system.

Late on the first part but two new characters have been revealed since Latest Settler.

The first is Miclio. Tales of Zestiria’s Miclio is a member of an angelic race called ‘Heavenly Tribe,’ and can only be seen by certain types of people. He was raised alongside hero Slay since birth and is something of a counter to his friend’s demeanour. Miclio is instead quite calm and sounds like a voice of reason.

The next character, revealed today, is a girl named Edna. She has lived on her own in the Family of Heaven, and carries an umbrella. She talks funny to confuse people and has trust issues, especially where humans are concerned.

Also, details on Zestiria's world revealed yesterday.
Quote:

Namco Bandai have provided some new information on Tales of Zestiria, which is in development for the Playstation 3. This reveal highlights the game's world, history, and even how cultures within the world developed.

We now know a major war takes place on the continent of Greenwood between two factions: the Highland Kingdom and the Lawrence Empire. Everyone suffers as a result of this war, from hunters to artists, and so on. This event lays the ground for Zestiria's world.

Either during this feud or afterwards, civilizations expand and different belief systems develop around the globe. While these expansions invariably cause new cultures to appear, there does remain one commonality amongst the various groups: every system of faith has folklore regarding what is known as "the Heavenly Tribe." These entities cannot be seen or touched, but according to these myths, those of the Heavenly Tribe hold powers beyond imagination that can affect anything and everything in the world. The Heavenly Tribe are respected and feared alike by all of mankind.

Another common element between these cultures in that while no one from the Heavenly Tribe has ever been seen by the average guy or gal, these beings have managed to appear to persons who eventually become influential to the cultures around the world. These select few offered "their pure minds and bodies" to the Heavenly Tribe, obtaining their powers. These people have been viewed as deities of both good and evil. Mankind eventually dubbed these persons "Monks." So these Monks have been "bestowed with the power of God" and are respected like those of the Heavenly Tribe would be. When the world is in crisis, these Monks appear.

Storyline reminds me of the older Tales games. The midevial theme in this game is rather refreshing after numerous sci-fi like RPGs now. Definitely will preorder this, especially since Tales games have good preorder packages.

New character revealed! Her name is Lyra, an adult woman who had been waiting for someone with the potential to become a Fon Master. After she meets Slay, she forms a contract with him, and becomes his instructor. Although she is mature, she sometimes has a habit of going a bit crazy with her imagination. Her weapons are book pages.

The official tagline for the game is also revealed to be "Tradition will one day become 'hope.'"

Get hype.
