I'm sure most people here who know who I am know that I came here from SSZ. even though its been over a year since it went down I can't stop feeling sad about it. I can't stop checking if its back, even though its owner told me it was done. I keep trying to go back and make it like it was but I can't and it makes me feel helpless |

Sometimes, It's better to let things go, TB. I'm very sure that SSZ was a grand Sonic site in its heyday. You know what? I have an idea. Would you like to join up with my forum? I mean it's not Sonic-related but I think of it as an omnibus of subjects, even though the initial subject is Scott Pilgrim. What do you say? I'm just starting out, but maybe you can be part of MY team. I'll link you if you want to learn more. What do you say TB? |

It can feel a little bit like grief when you lose a place you used to call home and such. Especially if you had loads of friends that were close to kin there. However, letting go is definitely something that takes time. If you think of it like an emotional process like a bereavement that can take a year or two to get full 'over' the situation. Especially if this was somewhere you invested a lot of time, life and thought in to. I find it really awkward to make friends - even here, but I try my best and if you ever want to chat or whatever, I am totally up for that. |

So after a lot of thinking I realized that I can't get over it for one reason: I feel partly to blame for its loss. there was a time when I almost completely stopped being active due to rping on 3d chats. but when I came back it was almost dead and they already said they were closing it soon. so I've decided that the only way I am going to fell better is if I can get the previous owner to let me finish the new SSZ (since he told me that he gave up on finishing it) that way I'll feel like I made up for my inactivity |

Sadly, Thunder, reality takes precedence over forums and RPing, the fact you became inactive is nothing to do with a whole forums decline. Things go quiet, become inactive or just vanish because that's the way of things. New social media and forms of social interaction are partly to blame with that. Message Boards aren't as popular because so many people have FaceBook, twitter and crap like that. You cannot go blaming yourself for the rest of the world moving on to new trends to be a part of. |

You would feel even worse if you revived it only for it to die a horrible death, why put yourself through that only to be disappointed? Accept the happy times, the good memories and let it remain that way. You'll wind up flogging a dead horse, as people have said in the Shack, Sonic had it's time to shine, that's gone as people use different social media forms now. Just try to make yourself at home here and make some pals - this place is quiet, but it's loyal people that linger here. |

I know the feeling, I struggle to 'let go' too. Some things are worth the fight, some things are not. It's very difficult to see (in the short term whilst you're going through it) what is and isn't worth the fight. If you keep in touch with anyone who used to be on SSZ, why not invite them to here? That way it'll be like a home away from home? |

I hope they do too, I think it would help you acclimatise more to the change if some familiar faces and friends came along and started making the place more active, I've seen a few folk signing up recently, but no real activity coming form them above and beyond the registering part. |

It does suck when your favorite site gets taken down, I know the feeling. When Titans Go.net was taken down we all tried to convince the current owners to give the site to someone else, but they simply didn't want that to happen for whatever reason. So we did something, we opened another forum in it's memory. Things went really smooth the first few months after opening it, but it started to die down like Titans go. And now it's a pretty dead forum with only a few members posting, we just reached our 100th member last month and the site has been up since late 2011. I know it can be difficult to move on, but like others have said remember the good times you had on the forum. Reviving it may work and the site could become active again, but running and owning a site takes hard work and dedication. Not to mention reviving an old site is probably even more difficult than opening a new one, since you'd most likely have to change things around to make it even better than before and keep members around. Hopefully your friends will join soon and you guys can roleplay again.

I am happy to say that I've finally let go of my obsession over it, it was very hard but I've come to accept that its gone, but even though its gone I won't ever forget it, and to make sure that it is never forgotten I am going to work on a game where the story will secretly revolve around my experience there, its how I've come to let go, instead of hopelessly trying to bring it back, I will instead work on a project to be a memorial for it |
