Josh said "the trail's cold again, so it looks like I'd have to find something else that'd hint where he went." as if he was a commentator for a detective's movie and proceeded to dig in the dirt where Fake Josh was.

As Donatello drew his blade he knew fake Josh was behind all this as a dark aura filled fake Donatello's blade.
