Source: http://gaminrealm.com/2013/10/20/capcom-cant-make-next-gen-fighter/ It seems THQ will be having company soon. Personally, I'm more focused on whose going to get Mega Man when Capcom closes its doors(unless its bought out or something). |

Yeah, I heard about Capcom's financial troubles weeks ago. What the article said. This is what happens when you give a middle finger to the fans and decide to focus on mobile games. Although, just because a company goes out of business, it doesn't mean another can automatically acquire the rights. Could just refuse to let anyone. Unless the company gets bought out of course. Damn... This could mean the end of the Resident Evil series. I may not like the recent games as much as I like the older ones, but I'll be extremely sad if the series ends as a result of this. |

not only RE, but Megaman, Phoenix Wright, Marvel vs. Capcom, Street Fighter (The focus of this thread, I presume,) and other series that they had made over the years whose names escape me. Also I got a pretty enraging comment out of that too....

It is a sad that Capcom is going to be passing on, so to speak, but at the same time as other's have said if you are going to say "f you" to the fans and such, it sort of serves you right. And won't they do what they did with THQ and sell some of the games out to the highest bidders? Hopefully a really good company gets the Megaman series!! |

Not quite. Much like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, someones going to pick them up, and likely, its going to be one of the bigger companies. Worse case scenario, Capcom becomes THQ with various companies getting various IPs(My money is on Nintendo or Sega getting Mega Man), or Capcom becomes like Atlus and becomes a company under another larger company. Either way, a Mega Man game would be more likely than ever, whichever group chooses to do it. Worst case scenario though, is Capcom falls and EA or someone like Activison gets a hold of Mega Man. Then all hope is lost for me. Perhaps though best case scenario is that not only we get a new Mega Man game, but MML3 gets revived. A far shot, yes, but I have my hopes. If the situation looks like Capcom must sell off its IPs, then I think its safe to say, the end of a giant has come, not with a lions roar, but with a sheeps whimper. Fitting for how vile Capcom has become in the last generation. Some people go as far to say if Capcom goes, a great Video Game crash will happen, but I highly doubt it. Well then this is what happens when you don't listen to the fanbase. I feel sorry for all those who are losing their jobs, but hopefully a decent gaming company will take Mega Man once they finally shut down for good. I think it'd be Nintendo judging how the original games were, they were all released on Nintendo consoles until Mega Man 8 came along. (Not to mention that the X series up to X4 was released on only Nintendo consoles with a selected few released on the Genesis and Game Gear but they were remakes anyways...) |

I wouldn't call it garbage technology but the fact is Monster Hunter has sold better on Playstation and most of its fans are on Playstation, yet they chose to go exclusively to Nintendo. Bad call. If it were multiplatform, at the least, things would have gone better. Another bad call was changing Devil May Cry into DMC... No one liked it from the beginning and the only reason why they changed is because DMC4 didn't do as well as the previous games. Well I wonder why? Maybe because it was released on systems that had a much lower install base than the PS2? Despite this DMC4 still did way better than the new one. Resident Evil. It went way downhill with 6. 5 was just an ok ripoff of 4 but it lost most of what made 4 so great. Despite that it was still an average action game. 6 just butchered everything and was terrible. Anyhow... Apparently they are readying up Ultra Street Fighter IV on current systems. Not really excited as it's the same game from 2008 with a few new characters. Dead Rising 3 is coming but it doesn't look too great. Deep Down is also coming and looks pretty good but who knows. I hope Capcom doesn't die, I'd miss them, but they have made stupid mistakes. |

As far as I know in Japan the fans go where the Monhun is. Vita bombed there because there was no Monster Hunter coming to it. So from where the games come from, console loyalty does not really matter, it seems. |
