I got to watch the 1st two episodes. Well, I liked the 1st episode a lot, but the 2nd one, not as much. I can't wait for the other episodes to come out!
So far, it's still got that neat Action + Cuteness anime touch I love about Sonic, and it seems to take some stuff from many of the games, the Archie Sonic and the early episodes of Sonic X. It's supposed to be an alternate continuity though, so the past canon doesn't matter as much here, but the references are good. Also, the humor is good in the 1st episode, though a little annoying in the 2nd episode.
Sticks The Badger is the newest addition to the team, and she's really frikkin adorable and moe'! There are also other Mobian characters like the Archie Series, who mostly are minor ones who don't serve much purpose. Also, Eggman's two steward robots, Orbot and Cubot, make a return appearance, and they are even more likeable than Decoe and Bocoe were here, not to mention are better than they were in Sonic Lost World and Sonic Colors.
Now for my reviews of the episodes.
- SPOILERS BELOW -
EPISODE 1:
Spoiler: click to toggle
This episode starts with a scene from the Trailer of Sonic Boom. Sonic chasing Eggman down a canyon only to be confronted by an inappropriately-named mecha of his called "Burn-Bot," although it has extending Claw Arms, not Flamethrower, Acid-shooter, or Incendiary Grenade Arms like it should have. Sonic talks about how that Makes No Sense and is False Advertising, right before going into battle with the robot.
I compare this scene a lot to Wiesse Konigin from Kazumi Magica, who suffers from the same problems. Wiesse Konigin was "The Bullet Witch," but she has Sword Arms, not Gun Arms, like she frikkin should if she's The Bullet Witch! That is totally stupid and senseless! Also, this partially relates to why I really dislike the Witches Oktavia Von Seckendorff and Ophelia, and why they make no sense either and are false advertising! It's the same problem that Burn-Bot has, although unlike in Kazumi Magica, they were at least willing to admit it in Sonic Boom. Just something I really wanted to mention about this part.
Sonic engages in combat with Burn-Bot, and is assisted by Tails in The Tornado. However, during the battle, Tails Tornado gets hit by Burn-Bot's extending claws, and he crashes down severely. Despite the damage, Burn-Bot is not finished off, and is still functional. Eggman then has it hauled back to base for repairs and upgrades.
Sonic rushes to the crash site to find poor Tails unconscious and severely injured. He feels really sad for Tails and rushes him to get proper medical attention. I really liked this scene, it was one of the good dramatic moments of the series. Much later on, after Tails regains consciousness, Sonic informs Tails that he is no longer going to be his "Sidekick" anymore and he now wants Tails to take an "Early Retirement." I thought this was a bit corny at first, until it is shown quickly after that Sonic does this after that incident because he doesn't want Tails to be risking his life for him anymore and doesn't want him to get killed. This part I thought was touching, since it shows how much he cares for him as a friend.
Sonic now holds tryouts to see who will be his new Sidekick to replace him. Amy tries to do so, but fails the 1st round. Apparently she was trying to win Sonic's Love again, but she wasn't like crazy over it like in older continuities. Although I still dislike how she's no longer as cute and cuddly and moe' as before. After Amy, some other Mobians come in too, one being a hooded one who covers his face up, and another one being Eggman.
After the 1st round, the ones Sonic considers to be his new sidekicks are this random Mobian Beaver who keeps saying "actually" about things, Eggman, and the hooded Mobian, who turns out to be Tails. Sonic accepts Tails in though. For the 2nd part of the new Sidekick Challenge, the three are put into a Hoverboard race reminiscent of Sonic Riders, complete with Rail Grinding and in-race combat. Eggman actually tries to get both Sonic and Tails killed in this though. The Beaver drops out of the race early on.
After Eggman pulls some illegal tactics on them and starts making the race more dangerous than it should, Sonic comes to step in, only to get Tails in trouble and himself in trouble as well.
Eggman returns with Burn-Bot, who has been repaired and upgraded. Tails gets hit again and crashes into a frozen lake, and Sonic comes to save him. Sonic then tells him that the whole "New Sidekick" thing was so that Tails wouldn't have to risk his life for him anymore, but Tails tells Sonic that he shouldn't worry about that, because he would do the same for him, and that's what being his ally is about.
When they are then interrupted by Eggman and his Burn-Bot. Eggman then says, "Oh by the way Sonic, I took your advice. Burn-Bot can now Burn things!" For now Burn-Bot is equipped with a pair of Incendiary Grenade launchers on its chest. Burn-Bot then melts the ice with its Incendiary Grenades, causing Sonic to fall in, and almost drown. Tails ends up saving his life this time, and the two then go and finish off Burn-bot by making it fall into the water and short out. Eggman then flies off, and Sonic and Tails apologize. The ending then shows Amy asking Knuckles to be her new sidekick and showing off in front of him.
This one I found to be the better of the two. I liked the whole teammates thing and showing how he generally cares for him. Even though he enjoys the excitement of adventure and combat, he still doesn't want to get his friends put in more danger than necessary. The whole "Sidekick Retirement" thing was actually done well here, and I loved the action and such. I wouldn't say it's perfect, but it at least gives us an insight into what the rest of the series will potentially be like.
EPISODE 2:
Spoiler: click to toggle
This episode starts with Sonic enjoying himself at his home while it's raining at night, only to hear a knock on the door. He opens it up to find Eggman there. Eggman tells Sonic that his base has been severely damaged by a storm, and he needs somewhere to stay until repairs can be finished. Sonic of course doesn't want to help him, but Eggman promises not to do anything harmful and even shows him that he has no weapons or anything of that sort brought along. Being the merciful hero he is, Sonic decides to allow Eggman and his robotic stewards, Orbot and Cubot, to stay at his place until the base repairs are finished.
The next day, Sonic's other teammates, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Sticks arrive, to see Eggman spending the night here. Amy is mostly okay with this as for she says that not helping someone like him in need would make them no better than him. Sticks feels that he's up to something. Tails and Knux don't like his presence. Sonic informs them that it is only temporary, and since he had reason to believe that he wasn't trying to do anything harmful, he allowed it.
The next couple of scenes show Eggman being a rather unlikeable roommate (what a surprise). He keeps them up at night with Pillow Fights between him and Orbot and Cubot, he mooches off their food and resources, he acts very obnoxious, and more. Sonic and Tails try to tolerate it, but soon get fed up. Amy tries to settle things between them, but it doesn't work out, and things get worse. Sticks still remains suspicious about him.
A few days later, things finally took a turn for the worse, and it turns out that Sticks was right. Eggman then reveals that his base was not wrecked and is completely fine. He only stayed with Sonic to make him and his allies tired from lack of sleep and annoyance, so that they would not be energetic enough to take on his new robot, Obliterator-Bot. Eggman sends in Obliterator-Bot, and the rest go to face it, but Sonic and Tails are now too sleepy to fight back.
However, the tables then get turned on Eggman. Obliterator-Bot had an unrecognized flaw in its programming that causes it to mess up on its commands from its master. Instead of facing against Sonic and his team, it then goes out to demolish Eggman's complex. Regardless, Sonic and the others go to take down this new mech.
Once at the base, Obliterator-Bot begins its assault on the base. Eggman tells them that two of the Base's computers contains a remote killswitch that they can use to deactivate Obliterator-Bot, but the two terminals have to be switched on simultaneously. Sonic and Tails then run through the Base's defense system to get to the terminals and activate them, while Knuckles, Amy, and Sticks face against Obliterator-Bot. Soon, their drowsiness gets to them and the two are too sleepy to switch on the terminals. Eggman then blows a horn to get them to wake up and they switch them on, allowing them to shut down Obliterator-Bot. The team then attack Obliterator-Bot a couple times in the head and destroy the hulking mecha. However, by the time they've done that, it had already wrecked Eggman's Base.
At the end, Eggman asks again if he can stay with them until repairs can be made, this time for real. After what he did, they refuse this time, and Eggman is forced to take shelter in the remains of his Complex. Amy comes over and talks about how he can cope with his situation, which Eggman finds to be really annoying.
This one I did not find to be as good. It was very annoying. The humor was mainly focused around Eggman being a total jerk of a roommate and a complete mooch, along with his two steward robots, and it got stale quick. It did have a few chuckles here and there, like when Eggman talks about Robots not counting as family because "Robots Don't Have Souls," but the rest not so much. Also, the fight against Obliterator-Bot could've been better, especially considering how a lot of other Sonic Boss Fights usually are like.
That's all for now. I can say that I was satisfied for the most part, and hopefully the rest of Sonic Boom will be better! I hope that the rest of you liked it too!
Also, I would like to ask a favor from for anyone who is my friend here. If someday we meet in person in the near future, and I had recently done anything that would confirm that I had become a Brony (which as of now I am not one), such as if I had posted on a Pony-related fan-site, drawn a Pony-themed artwork, contributed to a Pony fanfic, or anything else along those lines. If I have done anything like that, I want you to punch me in the face without warning. This make sound like I'm joking, but I am absolutely serious about this. Ignore any future statements retracting this if I ever make any. Though if you do, please first confirm that it is me who is doing it, and not some Brony who is posing as me and wants to see me get punched. I do not wish to go down the path of the Bronies, and hopefully those of you reading this will help me so that it stays that way, if god forbid I ever even attempt it. Thank you.

Well, I saw the episodes, and here's what I have to say about the first one;
THE POWER DEEP INSIDE: A SONIC BOOM SERIES REVIEW
Spoiler: click to toggle
Episode 1: Sidekick
So, we finally get to see what many a Sonic fan has been waiting for this past year - the premier of the Sonic Boom TV show. I myself have been quietly looking forward to this series. I've seen the first episode, and now I'm going to give my thoughts on it. So, let's do this.
Episode Overview:
Spoiler: click to toggle
We begin this episode with Sonic chasing Eggman through a canyon, and after a while, the latter brings out his newest robot, Burnbot. Who, despite his name, does not burn things. Um, Eggman? I think Sonic said it best - that's false advertising man. Ah well.
So Sonic tries to get away from the improperly-named robot and who should come in via plane but young Miles 'Tails' Prower. We get a cool slow motion scene and shortly afterward, Burnbot attacks the plane. Cue our unfortunate foxy friend heading down.
After taking down Burnbot, we get a scene where Tails crashes and oh my god, Sonic's face right after that. And the way he sped into action mere seconds later. You can tell he was worried for his friend.
Also, I loved the ironic humor in Eggman's comment of Burnbot needing to lose weight.
Sonic gets to (an injured) Tails and vows that he'll never let anything like that happen to his friend again. Let's see how this goes...
Next scene has Tails waking up and Sonic asking him how he is. The hedgehog announces that his friend is going into early retirement! He calls this 'good news' and goes on to talk about how 'great' this is. Then we get a nice little hug. I loved Tails expression in that part. He's a little confused.
Alright Tails. In other words, Sonic just fired you.
But according to Sonic, it was for the fox's own good - he doesn't want him to get hurt again. So, what our hedgehog friend attempts to do now is hire a new sidekick.
Also, is it just me, or did anyone else find Cubot's comment about the job market to be a subtle stab at the current economy? I dunno, maybe I've over-thinking this. So, we get a scene where people are trying out for the part of Sonic's new sidekick. We get to see Amy and Knuckles get introduced in this scene, and I'm going to say right now that I loved Amy's audition for the role. Though Knuckles seemed a little confused about who was going to be whose sidekick. Tsk tsk.
So we get to a guy wearing a cloak - who is actually Tails wanting to get his job back. Sonic says he can't be his sidekick, though the fox says otherwise. Then who should appear but Eggman, wanting to be Sonic's sidekick.
Wait, what?
Sonic has decided to let them move onto what he calls 'Round 2' and our next scene has the candidates (this including a new character named Fastidious Beaver. Who is he voiced by anyway? I've heard that voice before) getting ready for a little race, in which the winner gets to be Sonic's sidekick. The race kicks off and we soon discover that Eggman is only using this as an opportunity to take both him and Sonic out. (as if anyone watching expected anything else, lol)
Eggman manages to send Tails (who is flying in his plane at this point down... to a frozen lake? Uh, okay I guess? Sonic rushes over to Tails and manages to save his pal. He then goes to say that he never wanted to fire him, he was just trying to protect him. Tails isn't really pleased about this, but he seems to understand Sonic's reasoning. It looks like we're about to get a nice, heartwarming scene where...
Oh, wait, I forgot about Eggman. And it turns out that now Burnbot can burn things! And remember how they're at a frozen lake? Yeah, this iteration of Sonic can't swim either.
Tails tries to save his friend, but the hedgehog tells him to save himself. Tails isn't having any of that, and manages to rescue his friend. Sonic takes care of Burnbot, and then Tails caries him off.
We then get a nice scene of the two friends watching the sunset together and it seems as if Tails has gotten his job back. Awesome.
Meanwhile, Amy is waiting for a 'call back' and Knuckles is depressed because 'Knuckles Jr. (the name he gave Sonic when he was trying to make the hedgehog his sidekick) isn’t working out. Amy thinks that means he needs a sidekick of his own, and starts repeating the same audition she had tried with Sonic – a ‘Crazy Pizza Man! Who juggles and sings’. AKA, ‘Knucklina’.

So that was the first episode. And what did I think about it? Well, admittedly, when Boom was first announced over a year ago., I was a little skeptical. For one thing, the fact that it was going to be a light-hearted comedy for young children did cause me some concern. There’s nothing wrong with light-hearted comedy (I do quite enjoy it) and there are a dang good amount of children’s cartoons that someone like me can enjoy even as an adult. But still, that and the apparent lack of continuity (which I love), plus my worries about how they might portray the characters made me wonder whether or not this would be a show I might soon grow to be very fond of, or one I would deem rubbish.
Well, so far it’s looking like the former.
We have only just reached the premier and already Sonic Boom looks to be a show I’m going to absolutely love. So many things I was afraid would have been gotten wrong have been done so right. The humor, which I hoped wasn’t going to be juvenile and overbearing, turned about to be zany and damn enjoyable, giving me a chuckle more than once. Sonic’s cocky insult to Eggman at the beginning, the scene where the inaccurately-named Burnbot was first introduced, Amy’s audition for the role of Sonic’s sidekick, plus a few other instances in the show were something I greatly enjoyed.
The characterizations? They have been done quite well. For example, Sonic. This iteration of the character is portrayed somewhat differently to fit in with the universe of this show, being more of an anti-social loner than what people are used to, yet still manages to keep to the roots of his game iteration – he is lovably cocky, with an air of arrogance to him, but his heart seems to be in the right place and as this episode shows, he is definitely capable of caring for his friends.
Which brings me to another element of this show I absolutely adored – the bromance between Sonic and Tails. I love seeing that and to have that showcased here in Boom pleased me quite a bit. The way Sonic rushes into action not once but twice to save his best buddy and make sure he’s okay was definitely a treat, even if it was a bit tense at the same time.
And while I’m at it, when I first heard there was going to be an episode where Sonic ‘fires’ Tails as his sidekick, I was afraid it would be because the hedgehog thought the fox wasn’t ‘good enough’ or something. What I get instead, is simply Sonic being concerned for his best friend’s safety, acting as the metaphorical big brother he should always be towards Tails.
And that’s not to say that Tails doesn’t deserve his praise for his role in this. The fox seems to hold Sonic in a high regard and the way he saved the hedgehog from drowning, despite the risk to himself is certainly commendable. Plus, the two of them watching the sunset together can be considered nothing less than ‘heartwarming’.
The voice acting is rather good too. Roger Craig Smith really shines as Sonic in this, providing a great range of emotions and all around sounding fantastic. That’s not to say he was perfect at the role in this – for one thing, I felt Sonic’s line about not being able to swim sounded far too flat and not at all fitting for such a character who had just falling to a freaking lake. But hey, Roger was otherwise excellent.
Mike Pollock proves yet again that he is the best Eggman ever and damn has Cindy Robinson improved as Amy. Just goes to show you what a difference good voice direction can make. Hey, Sega? Take note; this is how I want Amy to sound like in the games. Don’t disappoint me now, kay? As for Tails, his new voice actress, Colleen Villard, has definitely shown promise and I look forward to hearing her portrayal of the character in episodes to come.
Visually, Sonic Boom is wonderful. The animation is great, especially for something that is a CGI cartoon show. Though it can get stiff and unnatural at times, most of the time it’s solid and I love the subtle pieces, like Sonic’s ears lightly twitching at points. Attention to detail like this is a plus. The characters, though the new designs are going to throw off some people, are modeled well and the world in which they live in lush and full of life.
Final Thoughts:

In conclusion, Sonic Boom is off to a wonderful start and I’m not ashamed to say I’m greatly looking forward to next week’s episode.
I've been watching it recently. At first I thought it was going to going to be something totally stupid. I must say I am impressed with what they have done and I am able to enjoy the series.
I've caught about eight episodes to date. Nothing groundbreaking about it but it's still amusing enough to keep watching. About what I expected from the show.
Miles better than the game at least.

So, for those who have been watching and enjoying this, what would you consider your favorite episode? Personally, I found 'Can An Evil Genius Crash on Your Couch For A Few Days?' to be rather enjoyable. Such a hilarious episode. xD
Well, from what I've been seeing, Sonic Boom is getting worse and worse now. Not terrible like Teen Titans Go or Breadwinners thankfully, but not exactly awesome either. Sonic X was still way better than Sonic Boom.
Although it does have some good moments. Also, Orbot and Cubot are becoming rather like able to me in it. They are starting to remind me of robots such as ClapTrap from Borderlands, and Wheatley from Portal, whom I like for similar reasons. I suppose that's a good thing.
As for my fav episode, I'd have to say I liked Episode 10 best. It was like a robot version of "The Hangover" movies, and it had Orbot and Cubot at their finest.
Thank you.
