Moments ago at his Trotcon Q&A Panel, Polsky revealed more information about "Sonic Boom"– we’re still waiting to see if our source can elaborate more, but early reports indicate that it is a "Pony-esque reboot of the cartoon series". What, exactly, that means is currently a mystery – Sonic has had no shortage of cartoons over the years, and each one of them involves completely different settings and supporting characters. Any one of them could be rebooted, and it’s worth mentioning that one of Polsky's contributions to MLP was, apparently, writing music for an episode, so not even Sonic Underground is out of the question at this time.

Right now, you know about as much as we do. We’ll have more on this as it develops.

UPDATE: Our source has offered more information now that the panel is over regarding “Sonic Boom”. All Polsky would say is that it involves Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy Rose, and would lean towards “comedic in style”, making it sound unconnected to any previous Sonic cartoon.

Stay tuned!

Not sure how to feel about this.

This can either be really good or an absolute flop. I'm hoping good.

If so, I'm hoping I get to catch it on TV. I need something to remind me why cartoons are still being made at this point.
It all starts with this... A jewel containing the ultimate power!

Every world has its end. I know that's kinda sad, but... That's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have. At least, that's what I figure.

^ hey uh three words or more please thaaaanks~

I really don't know what to think about this, but "Pony-esque" has me worried. Then again, apparently that was a good show so maybe something in the style of but with Sonic will be alright with me? I don't know.

Curious more than anything at this stage.

When they say "pony-esque" I hope they don't mean they'll be changing the characters to look like that. If that's the case, then I have no interest in this show even before it's began.

Of course, if it means by "pony-esque" that it'll be lighthearted and geared toward a younger audience, like Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, that could be passable. I prefer something for an audience at least somewhat older than that though, so I suppose that I can't say I'm excited even if this is the case.

I'm guessing by Pony-esque they mean the animation and writing style. The dude who announced this has also worked on South Park, Pucca and Rugrats. They all have similar animation and writing style. By animation, possibly meaning 2D flash animations. By writing, meaning funny and lighthearted. Then again, I'm just guessing.

Maybe by "pony-esque" it means how they rebooted the entire cartoon series to be something new and interesting to viewers. Now MLP is insanely popular. A different way of looking at that.

Which cartoon series? There's four of them. Is it AoStH? Is it SatAM? Underground? X?

...But you just said it was a reboot! Don't you hate articles that contradict themselves?

What.

Since when was Rugrats 2D Flash animation. Even if the other two are, they're vastly different styles. South Park would emulate paper cut outs, Pucca is more of the traditional (?) 2D flash animation.

South Park is more adult, while the other two are kid friendly.

do u even cartoons, bro?

Anyway a 2D flash Sanic is just noooo. That style irks me something fierce.

When talking about Rugrats, I mean the writing. Rugrats was funny and lighthearted, aimed at a younger audience. Even though it doesn't look like each other, doesn't mean it hasn't got a similar style.

Pucca were shorts with 2D flash animation. Similar as above, since it has the same style of writing. Funny and lighthearted. South Park is 2D flash animation. It uses the same animation technique as Pucca. Even though aimed at adults, it still has the same style.

You can't deny that by the way, since it's the same dude working on all the projects. Of course it's gonna have similar style.

do you even cartoons?

Then don't say "similar animation". Or "they all" for that matter. That's damn misleading. :I

Also they hardly have the same style. Pucca is fluid, South Park is kinda 'jumpy' for lack of a better term. Unless there's a series I'm missing.

And I'd say that South Park and the other two having similar writing styles is a bit of a stretch t'be honest. They're all loosely linked under "light hearted".

But whatevs.

Yeah, I'm with Ludi. They don't really have that much of a similar style in writing.
