So with the recent events I thought we needed a general MM topic so we don't go off topic in the MN9 topic. Mods please forgive me if this topic exists already, and feel free to merge this topic with the other one if it does exist. So what is your favorite series in the franchise? How do you feel about Capcom's recent events with the Blue Bomber? My favorite series is the X series, as Zero is my favorite character in the franchise and the games are challenging. As for Capcom's recent events I absolutely hate how they have been treating the franchise, and giving that they are pretty poor for a gaming company if they were to make a decent MM game and release it, it'd definitely help them earn some cash. However it really depends on the fans and many of them probably have moved on to MN9, as for me I hope maybe one day a MM game will be released but I absolutely love MN9 for what it is. |

I'm a fan of the classic series. I'm sad that no new decent Mega Man games have been made. They're making a board game, so that's Something... |

I think my favorite mega man serie is probably ZX (even if it has only two games, but men, i like them), and followed by the zero serie. And there is one thing i want, a game that can explain what happen to the Light family, why doctor Light created X, why, WHY? (I apologize for this, sorry...) |

X was designed to be the next step in the evolution of robotics. The X in his name is supposed to be thought of as a variable as you would with mathmatics, and it's meant to represent his infinite potential to grow and adapt. He's basically the first robot created to have a sense of free will and be able to think and grow on his own. Light spent most of the remainder of his life building X, but felt that people were not ready for him to exist yet, so he sealed him away until a time when humanity was ready to accept him. Eventually, Dr. Cain found him and used him as the basis for what we know as "Reploids". They're replicas based on X's design, but of course aren't perfect copies. X is often refered to as a Reploid himself, but that's incorrect. Same can be said for Zero, but that's another story. Anyway, no, there isn't a topic like this already, Ravenfreak. It greatly pleases me to see someone else giving the general discussion thread format a go, though! This is the sort of thing I was hoping to get going. I have a soft spot for the Battle Network series myself, but in terms of traditional side-scrolling Mega Man games my favourite is probably Mega Man Zero. Though I also adore the X series. They're both fairly similar, but as a whole I think I just prefer MMZ's story. It's also the only one of the two I've played to completion from start to finish. I've only played X1~5, and of them I only really like 1~3. Though X4 was pretty good too. There's just something about the SNES titles that I enjoy a bit more. I might have said Classic, but having recently re-watched Egoraptor's Sequelitis episode on the two I've come to realise that X wins based on improvements over all. The movement is just too fun to ignore. Wall jumping and dashing makes boss battles so much more intense and fluid and it's fuuun. Battle Network deserves a mention because I just like the setting. I'm a sucker for anything set within some sort of cyberspace. Though I really like the Star Force series too. Just got done with SF3. Was good~ All in all, I like something about most of the major series that I've played. The only ones I have yet to have a proper look at are the Legends series and the ZX series (which I'd really like to play someday. Should have bought them when I was younger). |

Thank you for the explanation Ludichaos, but the fact is, why Light created X? He already has Rock, was it because zero was made, and they needed someone to stop him, if he woke up? Capcom could make a game to explain that, because i never find a clue about this, i know how X was created, but not why (because the idea of a robot with his own thought, i think Rock already had is own, so...Or maybe i'm trying to find answer where we don't need to, why am i searching exactly?). |

These two lines are why X was built. He wasn't designed to fight, but Light figured he might have a need for the ability to fight anyway considering how things were in his time. While Rock has the ability to think, he doesn't have the ability to grow beyond his programming. So he's sort of stuck being the way he is forever. Unless Light changes his programming, that is. |

I fell in love with Mega Man(As a fan mind you) when I played Mega Man X. It is to this day still my top favorite Mega Man game. Course, I do have Mega Man 6 on my 3DS. ![]() |

One thing that has bothered me a bit about the X series, is that X5 was supposed to be the game that tied in the storyline with the Zero series. Zero was supposed to die and be dead so the transition from X to Zero would have made a bit more sense. As much as I like X6,X7, and X8 I sort of wish that they didn't bring him back in X6. It would have been better IMO plus we got Axl in X7 which would have been Zero's replacement. I still have yet to fully play through the Zero series let alone the X series btw. :V Also has anyone ever played Mega Man and Bass? I love the game but geez talk about difficult, it's similar to X's difficulty and it's a game from the classic series. I personally think the GBA soundtrack is better than the SNES soundtrack but that's just me.

Well that's mostly due to the fact that X5 was supposed to be the final game in the X series. But executive meddling came into play and the end result was them pumping out 6~8 and retconning the finality of 5's ending. If Inafune had his way X5 would have been it. But the games were making money so Capcom just decided to keep makin' 'em. Also yes, I played through Mega Man & Bass sometime during the last two years during my Classic Series run through. I kind of consider it to be the good version of Mega Man 8. Basically the same assets, minus a lot of the BS present in that game. Plus you can play as Bass. Good game, if not a little difficult. Burner Man is still one of my favourite Robot Masters to date. He's got a pretty cool design. |

I still like Mega Man 8 much better than Mega man 8.5 (the beta name for Mega Man and Bass) it's my favorite in the classic series. What don't you like about it Ludichaos? Is it the voice acting? Because that's really the horrible aspect about the game, the soundtrack is my favorite from all other Mega Man games. Wily Stage 2 is my favorite track from the game, heck from the classic series in general. As for MM&B my favorite robot master is Groundman, his stage has the best music in the game as well IMO.

The jetboard sections. They were the bane of my existence during the entire play through. The rest was alright though. They caused enough frustration to leave me with an over-all poor impression of the game. Was good. Could have been better. |

Oh yeah those levels, Wily Stage 1 still makes me rage quit from time to time but they're not as bad as the auto scroll levels from the X series. x.X Both are pretty frustrating though for sure. Also did you guys hear about them making a Mega Man board game? :V

It is pretty interesting, I can't wait for it to come out because I'll most likely buy it. I would assume you'd have to "defeat" the original robot masters from the first game, but it'd be cool to see other robot masters from different games appear too. The company that is making it started their own card game, and included Mega Man in it but I have never played it before. |
