Sega: Sonic audience is clearly on Nintendo

"I didn't use the whole thing ...."
Remember when Sonic Lost World was first announced as a Nintendo Exclusive?
Remember how all the Sony and Microsoft Sonic fans went ape despite the fact that Nintendo has had multiple exclusive Sonic games in the past?
Well it looks like they could be in for some more disappointment in the future.

Quote:

According to Sonic brand manager Aaron Webber, Sega believes that the audience for Sonic titles are on Nintendo platforms, not Xbox or PlayStation. Webber has stated that Nintendo exclusive titles such as Sonic Colours and Sonic and the Secret Rings have performed better than multi-platform release titles. When looking at sales figures across all consoles, it became apparent to the team that Nintendo consoles are where Sonic fans are.

“We just found historically that Sonic performs really, really well on Nintendo platforms. Sonic Colours did great, Sonic and the Black Knight did well and Sonic and Secret Rings did well — all Nintendo. When we look at the numbers, we thought — this is clearly where our audience is.”

The Jaw-ggernaught of Justice.
That doesn't surprise me in the least.
Look at Sonic '06...you'll know why.

Well okay then, that kind of stinks for those who aren't getting a Wii U. :\ Honestly I had a feeling that something like this would be brought up, but will they actually just start making Sonic games for Nintendo consoles/handhelds only? It's really going to hurt them in the long run since there are probably tons of fans not wanting to get a Wii U even for Lost World. As for me I'm saving up to get a Wii U so I guess I picked the best next gen console for my needs then huh? :V

Well this makes enough sense to me. Most Nintendo fans appreciate a good platformer. I mean look at Mario games. So naturally they're more open to the sort of game Sonic titles usually are. You could also argue that its because Nintendo has the more "kiddie" consoles, but eh.

Good vibes.
I have issue with this. The latest Nintendo console I got is the Gamecube, and I doubt I'm going to get a Wii or Wii U given that my dad is likely to get the Xbox One for whatever CoD or Halo game comes out for it.

Coming from a huge Sonic fan, this just pisses me off. It's going to be a long time before I can even afford a console for myself...

This isn't necessarily SEGA declaring that all future Sonic titles are going to be on Nintendo consoles. Though if it's where they're making all the money, I wouldn't blame them if they did in the future.

You have the "mature" gamers to thank for this. Most who go for Sony and Microsoft feel they're too cool for Sonic. Your father's console purchase mindset is similar to most: "I'll get it for then next FPS title."

Still, there's always stuff like Christmas and birthdays. You could try pulling in one big favour when the time comes. That and saving every penny you find.

I think this a bad choice. Wii U isn't doing so hot, not that I think they should avoid it or it doesn't sell to Nintendo fans but they clearly have lots of fans on other systems as well. Also Sony fans appreciate a good platformer look at Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Little Big Planet....

I want a Sonic game on Playstation and other systems and I know lots of others do too. Just as long as it's not as bad as Lost World. They were on a roll with Colors and Generations then they come out with that.... I hope they get it together.

I feel mixed on this. I think Sonic would do well on any major system.
I have a Wii U, but I personally don't think fans should be "forced" to go out and purchase one just to play Sonic!
