Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter Page

Mighty No. 9 is an all-new Japanese side-scrolling action game that takes the best aspects of the 8- and 16-bit era classics you know and love, and transforms them with modern tech, fresh mechanics, and fan input into something fresh and amazing!

You play as Beck, the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by a mysterious computer virus that has caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk. Run, jump, blast, and transform your way through six stages (or more, via stretch goals) you can tackle in any order you choose, using weapons and abilities stolen from your enemies to take down your fellow Mighty Number robots and confront the final evil that threatens the planet!

Every aspect of development—art, level design, music, programming, etc.—is being handled by veteran Japanese game creators with extensive experience in the genre, and with Mega Man in particular, all the way up to and including the project’s leader, Keiji Inafune himself! Backers will have unprecedented access to seeing this team at work through blogs, podcasts, videos, concept art—the works!

Mighty No. 9 is being developed for the PC with gamepad support (of course!), and will be made available through Steam and DRM-free digital distribution methods. Other platforms, including home consoles, Mac, and Linux, are a high priority, but only if we can afford them via stretch goals. Should we reach those goals, anyone funding the project will be allowed to choose which version of the game they would like to receive. The estimated release date is spring 2015.

This project is on Kickstarter so it can involve YOU, the fans! Not only will this make it possible, through crowdfunding, for us to make the game exactly as we envision it, but it also allows us to bring dedicated fans of this genre together to assist the team in shaping aspects of the game’s design. We need your help! Let’s make something amazing, and let’s do it together!

That's really all that needs to be said. So...

Pledge some money, already! Or just learn more here~

This looks so gooood. Never pledged to a Kickstarter before now but I'll scrape some cash together for this. All the wants!

Huh, So I guess Capcom did find someone to give the Megaman licence to . . .

More like Capcom is just sitting on the license without doing anything with it and Keiji and Co. decided "screw you, we're making our OWN Mega Man!"

I like how this is very blatantly Mega Man re-imagined with a different coat of paint. I feel like I should feel conflicted about this fact. But since it's the Mega Man devs making it and that the transformation mechanic intrigues me, I can't really complain.

I've already backed this up last night once I found out about it. Being a die hard Mega Man fan I was happy to see this pop up. I only pledged $5, but to even support the project a bit definitely helps. Plus my name will be in the credits too. :D I can't wait for this to come out.

I'm yet to pledge, but I'm planning on at least going for $40. $60 is probably my ideal mark, and $99 is what I'll do if I have an abundance of cash laying around.

If only I had $9999. Dat figuriiiine.

In just little over a day, it seems the kickstarter already met its goal. Wow.

As for my opinion on this, being a Mega Man fan, I think everyone should know. Thrilled to see this.

Same here.

All i can keep thinking is how Capcom was all like "The Fans are uninterested! They would never buy this!" and that now every donation is what would of been profit to MML3.

I put this together for this.

It's definitely gone beyond $900,000 and made it to 1 million already. There's no doubt that we will be getting a console version, I just have a strong feeling it's going to happen long before the deadline. The goal for a console version is 2.5 million. :) Some people are actually complaining about this though, which shocks me. They keep saying it's a rip off of Mega Man, but MM's creator is working on this project. :V I guess not everyone is going to like this, but so far it's been very popular.

The Jaw-ggernaught of Justice.
I really don't see Mighty No. 9 as Keiji Inafune saying "Screw you Capcom, i'm making my OWN MM!!!" I think of it as something like a love letter to all the things that made MM great in the first place, especially MM2. If you take everything that THAT game great-Music, gameplay, etc, etc. And put it into Mighty no. 9, no doubt the spirit of MM2 will be there, and remind us why Mighty no. 9 isn't something that Inafune just wanted to do for the heck of it, but something to introduce a new generation of gamers to, and hopefully, THEY will discover MM, and all of his glory.

As for kickstarter, I really don't know. I'm a bit short on funds myself, and I have a couple of books to buy somehow. Story of my life in particular.

Surprised no one has mentioned the goal changes. o_o So the console ports have been knocked back to 2.2 million alongside that the next goal in the list is a Co-op mode meaning Call will be playable if this is reached! Also the biggest goal is a next gen port of the game, so keep becking the project guys! :D

Bump for great justice. They ALMOST got the Challenge mode funding.

Also I really want to edit that one episode of Doug.

It was the one where Doug was becoming obessive over some crossword puzzle thing and sending in money to end a massive money prize. He had a dream of a ship coming in to him with money on it. The guy asked him if he sent money in and Doug didn't. And the anchor was weighed up and the guy left.

Id edit it with Beck on the ship and Capcom is Doug with a derp face.

"Of course you are going to make more mega man games right?"
"Wh-well why bothered no one likes Mega Man its not a profitable franc-*Anchor weighs and ship leaves*
"It could of been yours Capcom. It could of been youuuuuuuuuurs"

Well funding for the challenge mode has been reached about a day ago now and today Mighty No. 8 was revealed! Looks like he'll be the strongest out of the crew though, he uses guns so he won't have to come close to you to attack. Take a look at him bellow.

And a moderator over at my MN9 forum did a recolor of the character since he felt that the color scheme looked strange.

The second one does seem more appropriate for him. But considering the nature of the world they live in, the first one ain't so bad either.

Sadly, I haven't had the cash to spare to fund this thing myself. Nintendo's timing is horrible as always. Oh well.
