I've said this before I think, but i'm gonna say it again.

I think that the 2DS is a great starter system. It may not be a 3DS, but we can't forget that some kids can't handle the stereoscopic 3D effects. In fact, it can really hurt your eyes. The effect may be too much for young children's eyes. Now parents can set parental controls so that the 3D effect is locked, but some parents may not know how to work the 3DS. With the 2DS, children can have a system that is sort of like the real thing, but safer.

I know a lot of people are dissing this, but it's sort of expected on my end. The way I see it, it's not meant for the hardcore players (That's why it's getting a bad rep right now,) but is considered an alternative to the 3DS, not to mention that it has a lower price, making it more affordable.

I guess the same thing appeals to adults too, somewhat.

While the only reason I got the 3DS was for the new games and not caring for the 3D, I initially found this redundant, given the fact that we can turn the 3D off at any time. But once I was told it's going to be cheaper than the 3DS, I became supportive of it.

It's a clever move. My only problem is that it doesn't have hinges. I can understand if they're trying to aim it at kids, but there are adults out there who don't want to play in 3D. Can they at least be given another model of the 2DS that folds?

I won't be getting it since I already I am in practically married to my 3DS that I've had for a year now. But I'm supportive of this. It's a damn good way to make sales.

My only problem is how some people are reacting to this now. It doesn't affect you. If you don't like it, just stop complaining about it. It's not like it's Nintendo's XBox One, where all the fans will be losing so much for the full generation. Don't like it, just play with your 3DS.

It all starts with this... A jewel containing the ultimate power!

Every world has its end. I know that's kinda sad, but... That's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have. At least, that's what I figure.

. . .

I actually, since I cannot play the 3DS as it gives me blistering migraines and what I can only describe as an eye fog, think the 2DS looks quite a decent wee system, I agree with what previous posters have said that it isn't a big deal if you have a 3DS already this isn't going to benefit you in any way to purchase it.

It's just a good starter system for the kiddies that won't give them eye issues and maybe for people who don't like how fragile "hinged" consoles can be. Memories of working in GameStation and people coming in and complaining about I broke the hinge mechanism... WTF were you doing to it and why show me? I cannot fix it, call Nintendo up. O.o

Just...gonna leave that there.
You do know that he's a member on here right? :V That's Sammyclassicsonicfan but anyway Ashens recently made a review of this and said it was pretty cheaply made. He even stated that it felt like the buttons were going to easily fall off, but it is a console that is cheaper than the other variations so... I still think it's a good alternative to those wanting a 3ds but just don't have enough money for one and are very sensitive to the 3D feature. But it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't last that long. :V

Honestly I think it's fine for kids, I wouldn't buy it though. 3DS is a much better package, imo. At first I thought it was dumb but it will do well for Nintendo me thinks.

Everybody saying that the 2DS is for kids, I have a 2DS and I'm 19, whatcha gonna do bout it?

But seriously, it's my first Nintendo system (besides the GameCube like 5 years ago), and my first handheld console, so I think it's a really good starter for me. And it was only $99 on Black Friday and me and Ktim went to Walmart and they had like 40 of them left so he bought it for me so I got it for free technically so all in all I have no problems with the 2DS. It's fun and I'm enjoying it.
