Zazz is batshit insane, if a bit slow on the uptake. However, the guy is not one to back down from a challenge, and the way he reacts like he’s going to tear Sonic limb from limb in one cutscene is a cool contrast to the hedgehog himself, who just offers some calm, unintimidated snark the Zeti’s way.

Zomnom isn’t the brightest bulb of the six, but thankfully he isn’t treated like a complete idiot either. He has enough common sense to know that ‘diet and exercise’ is three words instead of one when Sonic hints that he should lose weight and even (amusingly so) gets back at the hedgehog by hitting him with the giant sandwhich he was eating (the Zeti has an affinity for food, somethng that is quickly made very clear when he is properly introduced).

Zik contrasts well with the rest of the Deadly Six, constantly with a cool head and able to come up with clever plans for the rest of the team. I even like how he gives Zavok a little push in coming up with an idea to turn Sonic into a robot then turns right around and claims Zavok could have come up with the idea all on his own, if given time.

Zor embodies the whole ‘angst’ angle, but hilariously so. His lines are some of the best in the game, having a bit of dark humor in them. He is definetely ‘one with the shadows’.

Zeena is one of those deadpan snarker characters that I happen to love. She is really into herself, though she seems to have difficulty picking up on the sarcasm of others, as shown in one cutscene when she believes that Sonic is sincerly sorry about ruining her nail art, only for the opposite to be true.

Zavok is expedient, which I absolutely love in a villain - if something in a plan doesn’t go right, he’ll try to take that mistake and turn it into his advantage. Again, I freaking love that in a villian. And the way he taunts Sonic about how his friends are falling one by one and he will soon be all alone? Damn. Just damn.

So yeah. The Deadly Six are stereotyped, but they represent those stereotypes well. I would like to see them have somewhat more rounded personailities though. Hopefully they’ll appear in a future game. Because seriously, they were awesome and besides, the series needs more villians.
