This area seemed most fitting though. So, Ive wanted to do a RPG. It takes place in a another world, where something happened and there is virtually no one left alive, save for monsters and the main character. The player goes around, looking in abandoned towns and such and often seems to be the only one who survived from the looks of things. You almost never get a chance to buy items, and have to raid dungeons and such for equipment. You still get gold and such, but as time passes, you accumulate more gold than you do anything else, in a way showing how valueless it is in such a world. I want the player to feel alone, hoping to find someone left alive in a desolate world. You'll make camp in various spots of the world and eventually progress, but no matter where you go though, the land and world is utterly devastated, and the monsters only seem to be getting worse. I figure the music and such will reflect the world, or be near silent in places. One song that would fit it for me is this one. The thing is, I can draw and write, but my abilities to put them into making such a thing is limited. Still, I do enjoy telling my ideas. Edited by VlaDDrakkeN, Aug 24 2013, 07:44 PM.

However most people will demand more. A plot. And ending. It will be hard to drive a lonesome plot. Perhaps in each abandoned city, there's something that hints that the next city might have a greater chance of someone being there than the last one, untill after the final boss, the character abandons himself to dispare, and a monster is about to kill him when it is killed by another person. When they talk the other person asks why he's lugging all that useless gold around. and then the game ends.

Both are pretty easy to use even for first time programmers, so I've heard. Never messed around with them but many Sonic and various other fangames seem to use Game Maker. You already have two skills that are essential to making a RPG, why not ask around and see if a few people would like to work on this with you. I'm a programmer, so I feel your pain. (Only it's the opposite, I can't draw at all and must rely on sprites from various games while working on my hacking projects...) I'd really enjoy a RPG with a dark story such as this one, I could totally imaging putting tons of hours behind it. To save mankind... That's some deep stuff there.
