I've run into quite a few in my travels. But the point is that things aren't always the same. On this planet, people in white coats, at least those ones in that building, are...healers. When someone is sick or wounded, the go to the hospital and the doctors help them. They've even sworn an oath to do no harm to their patients." "Granted there probably are some..."doctors"...who are as you describe, in fact there is a man in a red coat that often harasses these people and sometimes does what you mention, but not those in that building. Not them. I've been in there myself when I got hurt badly. It's ok."

The people on this planet did seem quick to trust and make new friends, and this star-farer even faster. "Smoke wouldn't want me to cry." "No, and I doubt he would want you to not be there when he wakes up. If you are able, let's go back and see if they'll let us watch through a window so you can see that they are only fixing his wound. And that he can see you. Sound good?" Temper aside, I hope that Smoke guy can get the lay of the land faster than this girl. It'll be night soon. They are clearly out of place but...my place is a secret. I don't want to reveal it to just anyone. I suppose my parents would take in strangers in these circumstances if they were here...

"...Well...we can just tell, you know? I guess...once Smoke is okay...I can explain anything and everything you want. Well...kind of. There are still things we're not allowed to talk about." The blonde she-hog stiffened a bit when Neb mentioned going back to the hospital. She then took a shaky breath and nodded. "A-all right. I'll do that. F-for Smoke." She walked forward a few steps before pausing, looking back at the fox. "...Do you dislike Smoke and me? Are you maybe a little afraid of us?"

You and your brother aren't anything special." They returned and found the doc in charge of Smoke. "Ah so you are the one's who brought him in. Well...I don't think he'd have made if you'd gotten here any slower, but I think the lad will pull through. It was a mess, he fainted from loss of blood, but we've got him sowed up well now. He's asleep, and I figure sleeping is all he'll be doing for a while. Best anyways he needs to make up for all that blood loss." A nurse showed them to the recovery room where Smoke lay asleep in his bed. The room felt gentle and comfortable, highlighted by potted flowers and the warm colors of the setting sun through the window. Neb watched from the corner as the girl directed her attention to her unconscious brother, his face an unreadable mask as thoughts and emotions worked their way through his head. Granted, she looked strange with her ears flat in fear, and her arms wrapped tightly about herself...but she managed to keep her fear under control. When they finally reached Smoke's room, the she-hog's eyes softened. She knelt down by her other half and held his hand. She lay her head on the side of the bed, sighing. "...It's scary, you know," she murmured softly. "Being in a new place without any memory of who you are or why you're there. You know you're an outsider...you know you don't belong. And you have this knowledge that you need to find someone special to you--someone who can be in danger. And you need to find each other before one of you gets hurt...or even dies... "I'm proud of him. Smoke has always had it hard back home. His very nature is unstable, but he's always so calm. He never hurts anyone by accident. He's always clear-headed. But if I had been the one to lose my memories...to face that fear and loneliness and amnesia...and with my powers...I would've done worse. The way I first reacted to the d-doctors here...I would've been like that with everyone. And if I got too scared...I may have accidentally killed somebody." The girl sighed, slumping against the bed a little. "...You seem calm, too...aren't you curious? Scared? Maybe even a bit angry in some way?"

Ever since his parents had fled Argentinum, accidentally leaving him behind, he'd jumped from planet to planet, and spaceport to spaceport, trying to stay alive and not get picked up by slave traders or worse. The second was concern. He'd never lost his memory, but he had a good idea of what it would be like if he did. And he had been in those spaceports, alone, unsure where to go or what to do. That was the point these two were at. Someone had to take care of them. Or at least help them out for a while. "I'm...fine." Neb said, schooling his features to match his words. He pulled the blanket off the other bed and draped it around Electra, pushing her gently into a chair near Smoke's bed. "He's not likely to wake till morning, or even tomorrow afternoon. You can stay the night here with him." He walked back to the corner and sat down. "I'll stay too, since you both seem to need a little watching." He pulled his legs up close, wrapped his tail around himself, and leaned his head against the wall. It was an old sleeping position from those days. Benches to stretch out on were usually taken.

Finally, she smiled and stood up, blushing a little in front of Neb. She quickly kissed his forehead lightly before backing away. "Bless!" she said, before turning back to her brother. Before she said "bless," however, she had said something else. It sounded like not only a foreign language, or even an alien language--it sounded like something else altogether. Maybe if the word 'holy' or 'holiness' had its own language... She spoke that language again, saying something softly to Smoke before kissing his forehead. The blonde she-hog then sighed and sat by her brother again. She closed her eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Not that he knows of them yet...) Neb took a while to fall asleep. Strange as this girl was, she seemed sincere and kind. Maybe she could be a friend after all... The next morning there was a tap at the door and he stepped outside. An armadillo in a police uniform was standing in the hallway. "You weren't home last night, but I saw your bike out front. So what happened?" Neb peeked back inside, but the two looked asleep. "I'm still working out the details, but I'll just say some...tourists...have showed up. One didn't know the um...system of trade, and the other was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. That would be the shop thief and the fellow who got shot last night." "Well that would explain why we couldn't find anyone. What do you intend to do about them?" "I...intend...to uh...help them. Help them fit into the society and find a place to live...or help them leave if that's their intention." He was just now admitting it to himself as well. Rock looked at him for a long while. "So you intend to take responsibility for them?" "Well uh...for a few weeks at least." "Full responsibility?" "Yes sir." The armadillo nodded. The fox had a good heart. "Keep them out of trouble. Oh and I think this is yours." He handed back Neb's wrench. "Thank you sir." "I'll leave some paperwork in your mailbox," the cop added as he walked off. Neb sighed and went back in. A short while later a nurse brought in some breakfast for the three of them, in case the other two woke up.
