Sometimes it seems that an epic quest in a fantasy story is always to save the world from some impending doom. I got to wondering about lesser causes, and then decided to make this topic.

So the idea is to make a list of possible plot ideas for various fantasy stories, that can be used by anyone viewing the topic. These can rang from something small to something big like saving the world. Try to keep them general, so that they can be used, but specific at the same time, "save the world" is not a plot, it's a battlecry.

So I'll list off a few and hope that other people add to the list:

~Corrupt counselor seeks to dethrone the King.

~An invading army threatens to smash a small defenseless country.

~A homicide raises the possibility of war between two or more races.

~Necromancer discovered the secret to an endless army of undead.

~A person with an unusual trait is accused of a crime they did not commit.

~A remote village is besieged by: robbers/orks/were-wolf/witch/ect.

That's all I can drum up right now, but I'd love to see what you all can put down!

The problem with this is that when it comes to making stories and your own ideas, it should be constructed by you yourself. Being a writer myself, it's not exactly much fun and original by using another person's idea, whether it's a suggestion or just something you saw. It's hard to think of an 'original' idea for someone else to use, otherwise it's not really original. Dunno, having worked on stories, I just think if someone else suggests you a it kinda defeats the point of writing.

But yeah, I guess that's my opinion. Fresh out of ideas though.

But that's why they are listed as general enough to be done differently.

~Corrupt counselor seeks to dethrone king, could be used by 7 different people and their stories would all be different. The villain would be different, the hero different, and the methods used by each different.

I don't stories are meant to be built on ONE single point, as there are many factors to a plot in general. I'm in the same boat with Fen when it comes to this. Sure, as of lately I have been pulling things out of different animes for the different Sonic Blast stories I've done/am currently doing.

However, 90% of my stories out side of the Sonic Blast verse are my own, and their plots are way beyond the norm, or differ from what the reader was expecting when they started reading my story. I have the opposite of writers block, as ideas and plots come to me randomly and almost non-stop. Tis why I have so many unfinished stories laying around. But to just voice a 'general' plot for others to use would make me feel... I don't know... Weird... I don't go searching for plots, I create them. And I feel that creating the plot is 85% of the writers job. So looking at a list of plots and picking one would make me feel like I barely did anything, and I would have to give credit where its due, to which it would no longer be my own story but a somewhat odd collab... This is just my thought process, and not to sound selfish but... Well yeah, maybe a little, because if people like or don't like my story I want to be able to say that what they said was completely my own work, thoughts, and ideas, and not debate if said person liked or disliked my story because of shared ideas from other people that weren't my own... Anyways, sorry for the mini rant.

Yes a story can have many many plots, I'm just thinking a list would be helpful to spark ideas.
