I enjoyed the 3rd season. Sonic X helped get me into Sonic so I owe it for that. I think people dislike it because it's a little less serious: Way too many pointless fillers (except in the 3rd season). Eggman not ruthless enough. Chris Thorndyke: This is a show about Sonic, why do we need an Ash Ketchum stand-in character? But it's good points are that it has decent animation that is GREAT for all those AMV's... yup. |

If there was less Chris in the first 2 seasons. I probably wouldn't ever have a problem with it. But other than that, I like it. |

While I haven't watched all the episodes, I will go ahead and agree. Sonic X is not really that bad of an anime. I watched it originally for Shadow since I was in the fan phase when it came out on the Fox Box segment - now called 4Kids. The stories were entertaining, and it was interesting to see an anime adaptation based off of the games (Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Battle?). I haven't watched the show in ages so I can't recall any other positive features about it, but I will say this... that Tails x Cosmo gig was a little awkward... you know, considering Tails is 8 and all. Nowadays, when I think about Station Square - that is, if you consider Sonic X to be canon - the city-turned-shacktown isn't so small after all. But that's just me. |

Nope you're definitely not the only one who liked it, I do too. I love how they hint at Sonic and Amy being a couple, the only thing I really don't care for is Chris.  I dunno I just think he's a bit too annoying.

It's because 4kids ruined it, just like they did with One Piece and Pokemon. If people watched the Japanese version you get more scenes, better dialogue, and a better soundtrack. 4kids edited out so much crap just to meet FCC regulations. |

Agreed. I normally watch my animes subbed, rarely I'll watch a dubbed version of an anime. I believe Sonic is the only expectation to this, but I went back and watched it subbed, way better. xD Anyways, Sonic X is cool in my book. x3 |

I honestly loved Sonic X. It was a decent anime and I loved watching it every day as a kid. I honestly wasn't aware of the hate that it gets to be honest :/ |

I liked it... When I was young. I don't enjoy it anymore; and honestly that's because I'm fairly certain it was aimed at a younger age group. I don't think it's awful, that's for sure. But nowadays it's pretty eh to me. |

I disliked it, merely for the fact that the Dutch dub was horrendous, European version is even worse than the 4Kids one (see for yourself - great lyrics. Gotta go fast? Not here). It might be a good anime, but it would've been the Japanese version that's good. I've got nothing against the story and characters (I actually think it's cool they kinda follow SA2's story line). Sadly the anime itself had such a low budget that it doesn't really look pleasing on the eye - sloppy animation, annoying soundtrack, etc. Everything could've been much better. Though, I used to think it was cool, but I didn't know any better. xP |

I'm a bit torn on Sonic X. You see, on one hand, I remember when it debuted, and I was overwhelmed with excitement about it. It was when I was near the peak of my Sonic fandom, back when I would frequent the CMCT message boards that Metallix, SuperShadowGal and myself all hail from, and a lot of us were beyond eager to see what it had to offer. And I wasn't actually that disappointed. I liked the newer dynamic of Sonic in a mock-real world scenario. I thought it was a great idea and it had plenty of excitement. I think though that they really could have done without the majority of the Chris involvements. He was okay as a small time character, supporting role, but all in all was just a pester for the show, but I was mostly able to overlook him and focus on the prime characters of the franchise as I watched episode to episode, and that really helped. Though, in terms of Eggman.... I didn't like the direction they took him. I didn't mind him being a bit silly, but they even made his schemes more often than not complete nonsense. And how he's use a deck of cards to summon robots? Who did he think he was? Yugi? Looking back now, my feelings on the show have changed a bit. I do feel Chris was probably one of the stupidest characters they could have added. As Smashmaster put it, Chris became comparable to a sort of Ash Ketchum. Actually, in my eyes, he took the negative childish qualities of Ash to the extreme, and lost all the redeemable qualities. He seemed to me as a placeholder character, just as if they had this idea, were missing one element to tie it together so that it could makes sense as a story, so they thought up Chris on the fly and made him just this... empty and kind of pathetic character, yet they put a large amount of focus on him. Production wise, I think the show was well done. And I love how they executed the Sonic Adventures 1 and 2 plots. For what was established in the show already, they worked those stories in exceedingly well, in my opinion of course. But looking back on the show, for being a Sonic show geared toward a younger audience, it wasn't bad. Not by any stretch. We tend to tear it apart as if they made this show aimed toward teens to adults, but in all actuality most of us are not in the target demographic so it's only natural we'd find many things to nit pick about. Especially Chris, he probably was considered a relatable character for the kids watching. But on thinking about Sonic X again, and reading above how people wish Eggman was more sinister, how the show would have been better without Chris and such, I would love to see someone come out with some sort of Sonic show or movie geared toward the long time adult fans. Many of us would probably love to hear Sonic less kid friendly, and would love to see stories that actually had an air of true suspense, with lives on the line and such. The games have gone there before but only a little bit. I'd love to see them do something more geared toward an older audience. (Yes, I know, Shadow the Hedgehog... but I'm implying a GOOD attempt, not a horrible one) |

I liked the show, but I'm not really the hugest fan of it. Yeah, when it first came out I was all over it, but nowadays I think it's just 'decent'. |

It was a ok show, but 4kids really did not help it. Also Chris Thorndyke really hurt it for me. Him and his family. The show seemed to like him alot. |

I really loved it. While not perfect, it's still really interesting and entertaining. I didn't hate Chris, nor like him. He was just sort of... there. Of course, he bothered me as the series went on, but he started off alright. I did start to like him better by the third season though - most likely because he's aged and is granted a but more mature. Sure, Sonic's a bit more of an ass, Amy's slightly more possessive, and Knuckles is played as more of a butt monkey, but wow is it entertaining. They still have the same personalities, they're just exaggerated. Sonic X is home to some golden scenes for the franchise. I will never forget when Sonic went so insane on the boat that he starts flirting with Amy. Or when Rouge had a different way of asking Knuckles if he was nocturnal. How about when Sonic ditched his meeting with the president to spend the day with Helen? This anime was funny and had some heart. |

Oh true true. And while some people hated Cosmo almost as much as Chris, I thought she was a good character for Tails. Kinda making me think of Naruto and Hinata for some reason. So totally agreeing with what most people are saying right now. Perhaps if they did another Sonic anime, it should be aimed at an older audience and *cough* tie in *cough* with the Archie comics. |
