Here's some SUPER FREAKING HUGE news for fans of comic book movies: Superman and Batman will team up on the big screen, for real this time.

Warner Bros. plans a 2015 release of a movie bringing the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader together, LA Times' Hero Complex blog reported this morning, before director Zack Snyder confirmed at Warner Bros.' Comic-Con panel.

Snyder made a previously unannounced appearance at the panel, where he thanked fans for supporting "Man of Steel" before rambling a bit about the next step for Superman.

He then introduced actor Harry Lennix: "He was in 'Man of Steel' and the reason I brought him out is that his voice is just way better than mine," Snyder said. "He's gonna read a little thing and some of you will recognize it and we're not adapting this thing but it is the thing that will help tell the story."

Reads Lennix, from Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Falls": "I want you to remember, Clark. In all the years to come, and all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you."

The Superman-Batman logo appears on the screen, and the crowd goes bananas.

"Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman, but look out for a new face to scowl beneath Batman's cowl: Christian Bale, star of Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy, has already said that he's hanging up his cape and won't return for any "Justice League" shenanigans. In a press release this afternoon, Warner Bros. confirmed that Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne would also be returning, which has us thinking that this movie could actually be the "Man of Steel 2" greenlit last month.

"Zack Snyder is an incredibly talented filmmaker, but beyond that, he's a fan first and he utterly gets this genre," Greg Silverman, president of creative development at Warners said in the release. "We could not think of anyone better suited to the task of bringing these iconic superheroes to the screen in his own way."

"Man of Steel" screenwriter David Goyer will return to pen the one-two superhero punch, working on the story alongside Snyder.

The Hollywood Reporter also reported that the duo movie will be followed by a "Flash" movie in 2016, and the long-awaited "Justice League" movie in 2017, though that news has not been confirmed by Warner Bros.
