The low hum of a propeller blade filled the air as a helicopter rose up through a clear blue sky. Light, fluffy clouds passed by as Blaire glanced through the window. The purple-furred husky was on her way to the arena that would be home to next match. And as the copter rose higher through the sky, the young canine began to get kind of excited, for it had seemed like a couple months since her last battle. The dog let out a deep sigh and leaned back into her seat as the memories of that fight came flooding back to her. She had struggled so much in that battle, had so much trouble, and ended up having to forfeit the whole thing. Blaire rubbed her left temple. In truth, she had been a disadvantage from the beginning. Maybe if it hadn’t been as hot as it was in that arena, she might have had a chance. Blaire shook her head. “Well, live and learn, as they say.” The husky straightened up, a determined expression on her face. “But, this time, things are going to be different. This time, I’m going to be the victor!” “Sky Haven coming up ahead!” Blaire looked out the window and her cerulean eyes widened at what she beheld. The actual arena wasn’t much – just a large, but simple wooden platform. It seemed fairly sturdy, something that any combatant would have been thankful for, especially at such a high altitude. But what really caught her attention, holding the platform up with large chains, were four giant dragons. Dragons. Beasts the husky had long thought of as mere myths, legends conjured up by people of long ago. But here she was, right now, looking at four of them right now. “Okay, now this was something I wasn’t expecting. ” The pilot’s voice came from the cockpit. “We’re over the arena right now. If you want to back out, this is your last chance.” Blaire flashed a smirk as she opened the door of the helicopter and rolled a ladder outside. “Are you kidding me?” she replied, starting to climb down. “I wouldn’t miss this match for the world!” |

Lifio stared in awe as the helicopter soared through the air. The white fluffy clouds amongst the calm blue of the sky, with the ground far below was a really impressive site to see. The fox turned his head to look inside the helicopter, nothing as incredible compared to the wonderful views outside. Somehow, he had been able to win against Aaron in his previous match. Although the human was no near as terrifying as Fish, he was still as dangerous. What the vulpine didn't understand, is why he needed to be taken on a helicopter. As far as he was aware, all the matches in the losers bracket took place in the lobby. Perhaps they decided to make things interesting for the last few rounds? "Get ready!" The helicopter's pilot said, "Sky Haven shouldn't be that far now." Lifio looked out the window once more. Then, from behind a cloud, he seen it. His jaw dropped in surprise. While the arena itself was nothing more than a large, sturdy-looking wooden platform, what caught his eye was what was holding the platform. Four enormous dragons; creatures that only exists in fairy tales and myths. Yet there was four of them right now. "Wow!" Lifio exclaimed. Whatever he was expecting, it certainly wasn't this. He was almost speechless. Slowing down, the helicopter began to maintain a constant speed with the flying arena. Sliding the door open, the fox lowered a ladder down onto the wooden platform. "Thanks for the ride!" He called to the pilot, giving a quick wave goodbye before climbing down the ladder onto the arena below. |

As she stepped onto the wooden platform, Blaire felt a slight turbulence all around her. It wasn’t enough to make her lose her balance, at least as long as she stood still. However, since she couldn’t really fight efficiently while standing in one spot, it was clear that she was going to have to take several risks in this match in order to even have a chance at victory. The husky used her sword to cut through a cloud that passed through nearly blinding her. As soft white wisps floated by, the purple-furred canine felt movement as the arena progressed forward through the stratosphere. Though it wasn’t moving all that quickly, Blaire wasn’t about to take any chances – she stabbed the tip of her sword into the platform, creating a way to anchor herself should something happen. At least until her opponent showed up. “Now that I think about it, who is my opponent anyway? I never got a chance to read anything about that. Who is in the Loser’s Bracket anyway?” Blaire shook her head. “I so wish it wasn’t called that…” Her ears twitched at the hum of a helicopter propeller, much like the one that had brought her here. The dog looked up to see a figure begai to climb down a ladder. A familiar figure at that. “Hold on… is that who I think it is? Is that… Lifio Waterson?” |

Jumping off the last couple of rungs on the ladder, Lifio landed onto the wooden platform. It was sturdy like it appeared, much to his relief. However, he would still have to be careful not to fall off though, making a mental note to avoid the edges of the arena as much as possible. While a cloud floated by across the centre of the arena, preventing any view of the other side, in the meantime, the fox glanced up at one of the dragons. He wondered if he was going to be safe with them nearby. Weren't dragons meant to breathe fire or something? They did seem more focused on keeping the arena in the air, but it was still unnerving to have something so dangerous so close. He glanced back forward, and the cloud had started to clear. He could see the silhouette of someone else, who must be his opponent. Judging by the shape, it had to be a fellow mobian. So far, he had only faced one of his own kind in the tournament, although he had seen a couple while he was in the lobby before the tournament had started. Lifio's eyes widened when the cloud decided to clear. Infront of him was a familiar looking purple furred husky. It had to be none other than his first opponent in the whole tournament and the one who knocked him into the Loser's Bracket in the first place. "Wait..." Lifio said, still stunned speak a whole sentence, "Blaire Fields? That... was rather unexpected." |

Blaire Fields? That... was rather unexpected. The violet-furred husky crossed her arms over her chest and raised an eyebrow. “Indeed. Of all the combatants I was expecting to fight next, you were not one of them I must admit.” She turned on her cryokinetic bangle and watched as the power gauge slowly started to go up. “Still,” she continued, brushing back her head fur. “I must say I find it pretty impressive that you have made it this far.” There was a loud hissing sound as Blaire slowly pulled her trusty saber out of the scabbard on her belt. The blade glistened in the sun like a well-polished glass. The young canine pointed the sword at the young fox, a smirk crossing her lavender muzzle. “However, I’m afraid the victory you had in your previous match will be the last one you’ll have in in this tournament. It’s nothing personal, mind you, but I really want to win this tournament. Bangle Charge: 0% |

However, I'm afraid the victory you had in your previous match will be the last one you'll have in in this tournament. It's nothing personal, mind you, but I really want to win this tournament. "Honestly..." Lifio replied somewhat nervously, considering there was a sword pointed at his face, "I wasn't expecting to be here, but since I am, I wont be giving up so easily!" The fox adjusts his water bottle strap making it more comfortable, "Like before, good luck, and may the best one of us win!" He pauses while getting into a more defensive like stance before calling out, "Your move first!" Volume of Water Remaining: 1000ml |

As a light breeze coursed across the arena, ruffling her violet-hued fur, Blaire allowed herself a satisfied smirk at Lifio’s words. “You’re not going to give up, eh? Good, determination; just what I like to have in an opponent.” The husky slowly backed up, lowering her sword away from the young fox. Once she was near the edge of the arena, she watched as her foe got into a defensive stance and offered for her to make the first move – his first mistake in this fight. With the wind at her back, Blaire positioned herself into a fighting posture – knees bent and her sword held behind her back, ready for her to swing it at a certain unsuspecting vulpine. “Ready or not, Lifio?” the dog mused, her smug grin growing larger. “Either way, here I come!” Like a bullet to a gun the Mobian charged forward, her eyes narrowing in resolve as she quickly closed the distance between herself and her opponent. The soles of her dark purple boots hitting the wooden platform with steady cadence, the young dog relished in the thrill of battle. Oh yes, this was going to be good. Her saber becoming a metallic blue blur in the process, Blaire swung the weapon at Lifio, aiming for the fox’s middle. At least, that’s what she wanted him to think. For just before the blade connected, the dog moved it up, hoping her feint would cause her foe to get distracted and allow her to strike his face or even his shoulder. Bangle Charge: 25% |

Lifio stood alarmed as all of a sudden Blaire came charging towards him. While he was expecting the husky head over to attack, he wasn't expecting her to come over so quickly. With little time to dodge, the fox braced himself for impact with the blade which was being swung towards his mid section. It didn't hit there. At the last moment, his opponent swiped her sword upwards and the blade impacted across his left shoulder. Lifio yelped loudly as pain settled in. The force of the impact across his shoulder sent him sliding across the platform, knocking him off balance and onto the ground. Breathing heavily, Lifio lay on the ground for about a minute, before slowly forcing himself to his feet. He clutched his shoulder tighly with his right hand. While the blade had cut his shoulder, the wound didn't feel too deep, much to his relief. The fox thought to himself, realising he would have to be a lot more careful. With his foe's attacks being so swift and unpredictable, and the fact that they were thousands of feet in the sky. He would have to think of a strategy to beat Blaire, but had none. At that moment, an idea to give him more time struck him. Unscrewing his water bottle lid, Lifio dipped his left hand in and out. He then did a twisting motion with his hand and a large amount of water began to circle his feet. Raising his hand high into the air, the fox was suddenly surrounded as pillars of ice enclosed him. The fox fell down on the what little space he had in his tiny safety barrier. Summoning the ice wall had exhausted him and he needed to recover. Hopefully, it would give him the needed time to figure out a plan to beat his foe. Volume of Water Remaining: 600ml Edited by Lifio, Jul 30 2013, 01:47 PM.

Right, well, I'm picked as a judge so here I go. This was rather hard... Grades Grammar: Blaire & Lif: Literally nothing to complain about in these areas. Both did excellent, like the detail you both used here. 10s for both of you. Entertainment: Blaire & Lif: I'm going to have to be honest... and I might sound a little harsh (Definitely not intended though). You both probably had no control over this anyway. But six of the eight posts in the topic were just introductions to each other. While one of you might have not had any choice due to the post before, you all honestly asked extensions for this? I know you both are busy and I may sound a bit mean and selfish here... but please hasten the pace somehow. This wasn't really a true battle. 2/10 Fair Play Blaire and Lif: Nonexistent because you only had two posts where you actually did something. The only attack that happened was Blaire cutting Lif with the sword so... I'm afraid I can't really give out a true rating. Adaptation to Environment Blaire and Lif: Again, you two only had two posts where you actually did something.... so judging this is near impossible. You both at least acknowledged and examined the environments. Lif also was aware of the hazards in the last post, 'worrying' about it more... but that doesn't seem fair since Blaire never got her chance to respond. So... I'm nulling this too. Blaire: 12/20 Lif: 12/20 After talking with Tal what I should do, IT'S A TIE. Which means the other judge has to decide it. Sorry but there's nothing I can find to pick someone over the other. If the other judge also declares a tie, Tal would have to step in and either judge it himself or allow another extension. Sorry, guys, but there's nothing I can really do to eek out a winner. Good luck with whatever happens! |

Ugh... judging again? Why do I have t- what? I'm on? Aw cripes. Ludi here, filling in for some dude who apparently forgot to do his job. But hey, it's not like I had anything better to do this evening. And at least this was a short battle... if you could even call it that. Well then, let's get crackin'. It's Judgement Time. [JUDGING] -GRAMMAR- Well, you two were pretty close in this regard. So close, in fact, that I'm going to have to get nit-picky about this again. There wasn't much in here to set you two apart, but it's the little slip ups that count. Since there are so few, you'll lose half a point for each slip up I find. [Blaire] Solid most of the way through, though you mistyped the word "begin" as "begai" in your second post. 9½/10 [Lifio] Again, really solid most of the way through, but you had a few more slip ups than Blaire. Well, two more. All three are in your very few post. You used 'site' where I believe you wanted the word 'sight'. Later on you used 'seen' in place of what should have been 'sees'. Or at the very least the sentence it was placed in needed to be structured a little better. Also, I feel there was an unnecessary comma splice in this sentence:
It made the sentence read a little awkwardly when I got to it. Should have just left the comma out. Not a bad effort, though. 8½/10 -FAIR PLAY- Uh... to judge this I really need to see a bit more combat. From what little we got, Lifio looked like he had the right mindset, but there just isn't enough to work with here. Like Fen, I'll have to null and void this section. -ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTATION- Well... you guys acknowledged the arena existed and pointed out some key features, I guess? You interacted enough with the environment (or at least the clouds passing by) in your introductions but I would have liked to see how you two would do in a combat situation. Alas, we didn't get there. Here. Have a consolation point each. 1/10 for both you. -ENTERTAINMENT- Nothing happened. THE END. As established in my judging of Rad and Cakes' match, talking doesn't do it for me. At least not without some entertaining dialogue. Blaire gets a point for leaning on the fourth wall in her intro post, but then loses it for a lack of continuity between her second and third posts. In your second post you stabbed your sword into the ground to anchor yourself while you waited. In the post that came right after it, you draw it from the scabbard resting on your belt. Am I the only one seeing something wrong with this? While I learned this wasn't the first time these two had faced each other in this tournament, I was not entertained. No points for anyone. ¦I -FINAL SCORES- Blaire: 10½/40 Lifio: 9½/40 Close, but not in a good way. I hereby break the tie and declare Blaire to be the winner. Try to actually get to the battle next time, yeah? ¦P Ludi out! o7 |
