Good vibes.
Ever have that Sonic song everyone seems to like, but you think isn't that good?

Or perhaps there's a Sonic song that you think deserves more praise.

For me... Ice Cap, both acts, Sonic 3 (Genesis version). I really do not care for these themes. It's boring and very repetitive. If you've played the S&K Collection, they've replaced the themes of Carnival Night, Ice Cap, and Launch Base. The new Ice Cap music is VASTLY superior in my opinion; it's one of the reasons I love Sonic 3 Complete so much: I can finally play Ice Cap with awesome 16-bit music!

I'd have to disagree with you on Ice Cap Zone, the Genesis version is miles better. :P However I love Launch Base Zone Act 1 better in S&K Collection, while it doesn't fit the level it sounds better IMO. Anyway a very overrated song in the Sonic series I think is Chemical Plant Zone. It's a great song don't get me wrong, but there are so many other better songs in Sonic 2. Take Hidden Palace Zone's music, it's a shame this level never got to see the full light of day (I say that because it's still possible to access the level via a game genie/action replay/hacking however it's a jumble mess unless you fully restore it...) because that song is so beautiful. Anyway for underrated songs I think the unused theme from Sonic Chaos that was later used in Sonic Triple Trouble is underrated and many people don't even know that song originated from Sonic Chaos. Plus it sounds much better in Chaos than in TT, but that game's soundtrack is meh to me. :\

Over Rated: Green Hill zone, without a doubt. It's not that bad, but it gets remixed all the time! I understand it's from the very first Sonic game, and is the most iconic level in the franchise, but I've heard much more songs in the series that have more depth, and a better melody.

Under Rated: Several tracks come to mind from Sonic Unleashed, but I'll go with a cutscene track, titled " Rekindled Light" that plays at the end of the game. It makes me feel melancholy, but it slowly makes you feel triumphant over your victory of Dark Gaia. I could even say the same to the song that plays before "Endless Possibility", "Always."

I object to your claims
I feel that His World is really overrated. It's a good song, don't get me wrong, but I hear it freaking everywhere. As for songs that I think that are underrated, I think Jungle Joyride Night from Unleashed could really use more love. Such a beautiful, yet overlooked piece of music.

I'd say the All Ends version of With Me is overrated. It's a good song, but unlike most of the fandom, I find Crush 40's cover far better. I also find Metropolis Zone slightly overrated, as well as Sonic Rush's soundtrack. They're all really good songs, but they don't pull me in as much as everyone else.

As for underrated songs, I need to throw out that I adore Aquatic Ruin Zone. This tune is BRILLIANT. It sounds so light but serious. It fits the theme of the stage absolutely perfectly. I also really like Windy Hill (The first theme of Windy Valley.) which feels so cheerful and nostalgic. I also want to give a shout out to Marble Zone. This song stays in my head for DAYS at a time. And this last one's going to seem incredibly random, but I LOVE the Sonic Heroes Team Select music. It's so cheerful, cute, and feels like what a Sonic song should be. I remember just putting the controller down so I could listen to the song, forgetting that I came to play the game(Which I love.). The song has to be REALLY good for me to stop playing Sonic Heroes.

Can I also say that with all the love City Escape gets, the Modern remix needs some attention? People seem to dislike it and prefer the Classic remix, which I find odd. The Classic remix is simply the original with autotune and different instrumentals. Modern is something new. But ah well. Maybe it's just because autotune irks me.
It all starts with this... A jewel containing the ultimate power!

Every world has its end. I know that's kinda sad, but... That's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have. At least, that's what I figure.

I actually completely agree with you on all of these. The Crush 40 version of With Me has far better vocals than the original, and the Modern City Escape remix is actually one of my favorite songs in Generations. Tony Harnell and Ted Poley sound like they're singing their heart and soul into that song.

This so much, Jungle Joyride Night is probably one of my favourite tracks from Unleashed, it's great. Now that I think about it, quite a lot of the Night themes are underrated, more than likely because the Werehog is considered the bad part of Unleashed. Cool Edge Night is another track from Unleashed needs some attention.

Another underrated gem is The Core(Theme of Astral Babylon and Mobius Strip) from Zero Gravity. It somehow manages to combine multiple genres and make it sound really good.

I think a very overated sonic song is ''Open your Heart'' it just gets an intensive amount of views, true it may be a good song. But I don't believe it's THAT good.

Underated: I believe the songs for Aquatic Mines, Pumpkin Hill, and Wild Canyon were very underated, and to boot its rap that isn't degrading everything possible. I also like ''Will to Fight the Knight'' (battle with King Arthur), In my opinion I believe that's the best song from all the Sonic titles that were sold on PS3/WII/XBOX.

Overrated would be Green Hill Zone for me.

Underrated...not sure, I don't know which songs are most loved or not. XD

I do know I really like Final Fortress from Sonic Heroes.

EDIT

Wait I know!

I really like this theme song.

His World is SO overrated. I do like it but GOOD GOD, it is in like half of the Sonic videos on Youtube!

As for underrated, I dunno. I always felt the ending theme to Sonic 2 didn't get enough attention,no scrap that, MOST songs from the classic games don't get much attention. The songs from the Advance games don't get much attention either, nor the Rush games (seeing a trend here in 2D VS 3D?).

Also someone said about the Modern Escape from the City remix and I have to agree, I love that song!

^ The modern remixes of a fair few of the songs were brilliant - if we are talking about Sonic Generations?

I particularly liked the modern Speed Highway... makes me want to get some glow sticks going.

Did not like the Planet Wisp level music in Generations mind you...

I have mixed opinions on the popularity of His World. The rap verses are kind of catchy but I dislike the lyrics, the chorus is pretty damn good, but I have to say my favourite part has got to be that opening. Those instrumentals at the start are easily one of my favourites to any song. They're just to intense. It's the one song where I prefer the original version over Crush 40's. But again, the lyrics and rap are just average.

I also need to say that Bridge Zone from the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog is brilliant. I don't know why, but that beat gives me such a cute and optimistic feeling. It's one of those few songs that I fully enjoy having stuck in my head.

And YES. Knight of the Wind is one of my absolute favourite Crush 40 and Sonic songs out there. Just ask my friends at school how many times they've caught me singing it. It's ridiculous.

My final one for this post, on the topic of SatBK is Through the Fire. Just... that verse. I LOVE the passion in Johnny Gioelli's voice. Especially "'Cause this battle's just begun." Maybe it's just me, but I ADORE the way he sings that line. It just gets me. I really, REALLY don't know how to explain my love for the verses. I may be the only one, and rambling on at this point, but it's just... amazing.

*blows dust of topic*

I am VERY fond of the US versions of Metallic Madness. It has such an amazing atmosphere, it blows me away every time I listen to the three themes. And yet I don't hear many people talking about it, rather they talk mostly about the Japanese soundtrack (which I do like quite a lot, actually, but I prefer the US soundtrack myself).
