I suspect the Wii will lose its #1 crown

In a crazy twist of events in the past few years, I have a theory that the Wii will lose its crown of being #1 selling console of the 7th generation of consoles. Since 2010 the Wii just started falling in an uncontrollable downward spiral. It got surpassed by the PS3 in yearly sells and eventually even the 360. Here is a look at hardware sells so far this year:
Hardware YTD

1: 3DS - 4,245,773
2: PS3 - 3,987,638
3: X360 - 2,742,717
4: PSP - 1,790,212
5: PSV - 1,081,129
6: Wii - 1,011,991
7: WiiU - 922,230
8: DS - 474,593

As you can see the Wii isn't dead in the water but it is getting outsold more than double by the 360 and almost 4xs by the PS3. The Wii doesn't have many years left and while it is at 99 million sold and most likely to surpass 100 million being Nintendo's first 100 million console, it's only 20 million ahead of the PS3(80 million as of a month ago) and 22.5 ahead of the 360. Sony consoles always last at a minimum of 10 years(PS2 was 12 years) so that gives us a minimum of 3 more years. Considering the cheapest PS3 in America is $269 it's still more expensive than the Wii launched at and the PS2 didn't explode in sells till it dropped to $199 I can see the PS3 surpassing the Wii in 3 years time even if it doesn't have a price drop. I can also see the 360 surpassing it or at least getting close to it. Here is how all of the consoles did the week of June 15th:

Global Weekly Sells to June 15th

1: 3DS - 264,483 (+114%)
2: PS3 - 146,813 (+21%)
3: X360 - 79,854 (+1%)
4: PSP - 50,038 (-1%)
5: PSV - 33,095 (+18%)
6: Wii - 26,070 (-7%)
7: WiiU - 23,103 (-4%)
8: DS - 12,863 (-9%)

So that's my theory but it really won't take long for the PS3 to hit 100 million at the pace its going at now, making it Sony's 3rd 100 million console in a row. Microsoft has also stated they are shooting for 100 million for the 360.

So... if it's been surpassed then it has already lost its #1 Crown, no?

I'm not sure I understand the point of this thread. I don't really see much potential for discussion in it.

Ah let me explain myself better. It has been surpassed in yearly total sells but not in life to date sells. It's still 20 million ahead but with how much it's getting outsold(PS3 typically does 12-14 million a year as of late) because it has slowed down to a trickle and how the other consoles are doing so well, my theory is when all is said and done it will be either behind one or both of its competitors. That's my theory. If anyone wants to speculate or discuss why they agree or disagree, go ahead.

So you're saying that PS3 and 360 sales are catching up to the Wii? I'm assuming it's because the Wii U just came out and the Wii hardly has any new games going for it. That's my guess, anyway. Although I believe that since the XBOne was announced, Sony and Nintendo sales skyrocketed, so something tells me that the Wii should at least sell better than the 360 by the end of this generation.
It all starts with this... A jewel containing the ultimate power!

Every world has its end. I know that's kinda sad, but... That's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have. At least, that's what I figure.

Nintendo is dropping support for the Wii (basic channels, WiiWare, VC, etc.) within the upcoming months, so why should this be a surprise to anyone?

PS3 and 360 have proved that they have better established communities that will continue to buy their products no matter how outdated because they have a more viable business model and less restrictions with hardware. Nintendo might have sold more systems but it's coming back to bite them in the ass because they didn't expect the whole "quality over quantity" philosophy coming.
