http://blogs.sega.com/2013/06/20/announcing-sonic-boom-and-summer-of-sonic-2013/ Sonic Boom has been announced for a third year in a row, this time in the city of St. Louis. Tickets are not on sale yet, but the event will be on August 10th at the Pageant in the Delmar Loop. I shall be in attendance and have already reserved my flight and hotel. I went to the last one and it was just wonderful; there is no better time of the year to be a Sonic fan than in a convention filled with your fellows.  All the features from last year's event seem to be making a return: a Crush 40 concert, a trivia contest, a costume contest, and presumably a Q&A with some key Sonic Team officials. Who knows what other goodies might be in store! So! Anyone plan on trying to attend? |

I'm definitely going this year because I live 45 minutes away from St. Louis myself. I'm super excited to see that us here in the Midwest are getting the event this year, because we never get anything... Usually the events end up going to the coasts... >_> However to be there on time my gf and I have decided to check into a hotel room, plus that way if we do end up going to a after party we won't have to drive 45 minutes back to our house. Might see if any of my relatives would like to visit us in our hotel room, since many of my relatives live about 15 minutes away from St. Louis. Now to wait and see when tickets go on sale... I already requested that whole weekend off from work.

The hotel right next to the venue (where I'm staying) is about 180 a night... next closest hotel was 3 or so miles away. Since you'll have a car however, that won't be a problem! Good to see you are going, however! I'm really anxious to see how turnout will be in such a location (given that there were 200 tickets left unsold on a venue that was in extremely populous California)... but that's why I'm trying to get the word out! The most important detail would be that the 20 dollar ticket fee (if last year is any indication) actually comes with a lot of perks. Besides the event itself, there's free food and drink, a free Archie comic, a free Sonic colors hat, a chao keychain, and a free Sonic Boom t-shirt. At least, that's how it was last year. Presumably it will be the same this year as well! Hopefully some more of the folks here will be in attendance! ^__^ |

Besides saying you're going if you wish, they've also announced some ticket details: They'll be going on sale on July 3rd and 10 AM Central Time. They've yet to release the exact details however. |

I saw this on Facebook earlier and according to one of the page's admins, they said they'll be posting a link that allows you to buy tickets tomorrow... though they don't go on sale until Wednesday which is sort of odd but I guess they want to give the link out. Thank god I get paid that day due to the holiday.

Ah, that'd make sense. Thank you Ravenfreak! So we'll all have our links ready... I do hope we don't have a Summer of Sonic-esque ticket rush. That would be a bummer majoris! Though SoS' problem comes from the fact tickets are free, I think. That and most of Britain's Sonic fans are concentrated, unlike the dispersed American fanbase. So hopefully it won't be too chaotic... I'm planning to stay up until tickets go on sale regardless.

I nabbed mine as soon as they went on sale this morning too! Looks like i'll be seeing you there then, my gf and I will be there. While I don't have a Teen Titans shirt yet I plan on buying one soon and I'm going to wear that with my Sonic hat. I know we have more than a month away before the event starts but meh. Also my Sonic hat has ears on the top. xD

Something of an update for those unable to attend this. http://www.sonicradio.net/home/2013/06/sonic-boom-california-september-14th/ SonicRemix, head of Sonicanime.net and founder of Sonic Radio, is hosting an alternative event in California. Key details: PLACE: Dave & Busters in Orange, CA TIME: September 14th, 2013 at 1:00 PM (PDT) PLAN ON: Bringing money for meal and video games. We’re currently investigating packages that we can get for our group, but we need an idea of a headcount first. We will update you guys with this information, hopefully by August." http://west.sonicboomtv.net/ SonicRemix has actually started a website for people to formally register to attend if they wish. Cool glad to see another member from SB will be there. Will you guys be dressing up for the costume contest? Just curious is all, my girlfriend and I will not be but it's going to be cool seeing a few fans dressed up. :3 Also if you guys plan to stay a bit in St. Louis may I suggest that we have a free zoo and there's the delmar loop too so if you get bored there are a few attractions we have.

And this was actually half the reason I got active here! I had this sinking feeling no one here knew about it... so I decided to change that!
I will not be dressing up, sadly, though I had debated going as Dark Enerjak (from Archie) or Super Sonic from the Fleetway strip. Alas, I hadn't gotten around to it simply because SEGA took their sweet time and made me worry there wouldn't be an event at all! I will however be trying to make some sort of conbadge for myself in the coming days so hopefully I'll have a means to identify me from afar! |
