This is a general discussion thread for any and all Pokémon chatter that might not warrant its own topic. It can be used to discuss... well... pretty much anything you like! So long as it's Pokémon related. Organise matches, talk about your favourite types, post thoughts on the games mechanics... it's all good here! The aim is to have a relaxed environment without too much focus on being relevant to one particular topic, while still having an underlying theme for discussion to be based around. For news about the upcoming games Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, please direct your attention to the Pokémon X & Y thread located here. That will keep this thread free of any information people might not want to see about the newer games, while also keeping it relevant. I'll most likely be moving posts about said game into that thread if I spot 'em in here. So with that all said, have fun! ---------- =EVENT= Blazikenite Torchic Disribution For those of us here with Pokémon X and Pokémon Y (who will likely already know about this), you can currently get a Torchic holding the Blazikenite Mega Stone, as well as having the Speed Boost Hidden Ability, from the Nintendo Network. Simply select Mystery Gift at the Main Menu and select "Get via the Internet". It's that simple. It's important to note that you cannot obtain this stone in any other way, so if you want a Mega Blaziken at some point you'd be wise to collect it before the event is over!

Have Rivals gone soft, or are some people's views hindered by rose-tinted glasses? Debate time~ Fenroar I didn't necessarily say he had to be a dick. It's just these rivals don't even have the same goals, thus not even making them rivals to me. Give the rivals more character development, make them more competitive instead of the usual 'hey cheers to us both!' The rivals as of late just seem nothing more then friends with little-to-none character development, thus making them extremely boring to me. A rival hasn't exactly jumped out to me since Silver of Generation II. Granted, I never played B2/W2 so I can't say anything there. So... you're calling Barry and Cheren uncompetitive? Were you even looking at the same Rivals? Barry is a friendly rival, but he's just as competitive as Blue and Silver were. Same can be said for Cheren, and he was fairly cold iirc. Focused on gaining power and all that. Hugh is probably closer to what you described, but he's got plenty of character development. He goes from having near absolute hatred for Team Plasma at the start of the game to eventually mellowing out as the game progresses. Granted he's still pretty gung-ho about the whole thing up until achieving his goal (rescuing his sister's Pokémon), but I otherwise found him to be a good character. A couple of strange lines aside. Yes, he was still fairly buddy-buddy with the player (because funnily enough that's how childhood friends work), but he still gave it his all. Every time he came at you with everything he had. So he's pretty much everything you seem to want in a rival. But wait, there's more! Blaire Actually, no. I'm not saying he's a bad rival. I'm saying he's a bad character. Pssh. He's one of the better characters in recent history. Way better than May/Brendan/Dawn were. Blaire Were we playing the same game? I thought his design was atrocious. Dude he's like a fusion between Kaito and Rook from Phi Brain. He's awesome. Certainly one of the more interesting designs in the series. But 'pinions. Blaire Okay, I'll give you that. However! I found him to be really freaking annoying and way too pushy at times. I mean, just go back to some of his quotes. He's just...ugh! Do you remember Barry? He was way worse in that regard. But he's a lovable goof so I forgive him. I don't really recall Hugh being all that pushy to be honest. Yes this is a double post. I did it so this wall of text wouldn't appear at the top of every page in the thread. No, double posting is not okay because I did it. One time exception~

So he's pretty much everything you seem to want in a rival. I never finished generation five to be honest, so I don't know too much about Cheren either, haven't even touched the sequels. But Barry is one of the said examples of having near-to-none character development, as I found him to to be annoying and boring, having the same bumbly hyperactive personality the entire game. This is just my opinion anyway. I don't really want to debate over it. :V

Do you guys still keep up with the current season of the anime? I haven't kept up with the anime for years now, right after Ash and the gang got new voice actors the new voices threw me off the series. Now I see that Ash has Brown eyes which add to the strangeness of the show now. I just can't get into it anymore... Don't get me wrong I love Generation 5 of Pokemon and it has nothing to do with the Pokemon after all I stopped watching it way before the 5th Gen even started heck it was still during my favorite Gen when the new crew started, Gen III.

Pocket Monsters: The Origins; "To everyone who played Pokémon Red and Green." It's a stand alone, like the trailer states, an original animation - it has nothing to do with Pokemon X and Y. Starring Red and Green, Professor Oak, Brock, possibly more. It'll be out October 2nd. It's a OVA/special - not a movie or a series.

Liking the art style used (my friend likened it to the art from the time, redone in a crisp and clean fashion) and looking forward to seeing what happens in an animation that actually focuses on the game's story. Plus I'm just really happy to see no Ash. It's the Black and White 2 animated promo all over again~ Only thing I'm hoping is that they actually stick to the game's rules somewhat in this. The main anime series has a really bad habit of bending the rules when it suits Ash. Golden Swellow urrrrgh. Also, to answer Ravenfreak's question from earlier which I missed: No, not really. I stopped somewhere around the Hoenn arc. Got real tired of Ash's BS. But I occasionally catch an episode or two if I happen to catch it on the TV. The latest season is more or less the same. Animation has been improved somewhat of course, but Ash is still Ash and his new travelling companions, Cilan and Iris, aren't that great. Same old story, same old song and dance. If you've seen Ash go through one region you basically know how he'll do in every other one. Only improvement this season is that Team Rocket have become somewhat competent again. They're not around nearly as much and whenever they do show up they actually do a decent job of whatever task they've been given. It's nice. But not enough to keep me watching.

We can continue discussing that mystery image here then. Really hope it's a legit Wii U game and if it's a true Pokemon Stadium game, I would be thrilled. (N64 games were the best. ;A;) But ugh, so the series could just be a fifteen to thirty minute promo? What a shame.

But I guess the reason why they never thought to make a anime based around the games is because the manga series was pretty much based around the games, and they didn't want to anime to be similar. I wonder if Blue will be making a cameo appearance in this, since she was supposed to be in the games but ended up getting scrapped... (But later appeared in FR/LG...) Also, that's about the time I stopped watching the anime as well Ludichaos, for those same reasons too.

A shiny Dialga is being distributed today for all Black/White and Black2/White2 owners at GameStop. Dunno if it's out of America. Thought I should let people know seeing how impossible a shiny legendary is.

Deleted User	Ah yeah me and my best friend went out and got ours today. They're pretty siiiick. Next month starting on the 9th until the 29th GameStop will be giving out a Shiny Palkia instead of Shiny Dialga. And then following that from the 30th until... I think the 9th or 8th of October, they give out Shiny Giratina.
