Welcome to the forum, AegisReflector! I am the Yami that Trix spoke of, and as she suggested I'm most pleased to see a fellow InuYasha fan. xD From what you've said it seems you aren't really big on manga, but I would still highly recommend reading the manga of InuYasha if you liked the anime. Short of filler (especially season 6), the anime does the best job of being faithful to the original manga of basically any series I've ever seen. Reading the manga becomes especially advantageous nearer to the end of the series though, both because the artwork gets astoundingly good at that point and because of the lack of filler, and the fact that all the events of The Final Act are a lot less condensed. More stuff happens, with more of it being relevant to the plot, basically.

I DID read a few issues of Inuyasha before but it was way back when I was in middle school though. I believe it was Chapters 6-9 (so basically the Yura saga) and then Chapters 23-27 (the Noh Mask saga) and I did really like them, but I lost interest collecting them after seeing the anime. The thing with me is that I am a visual sort of guy, and since I love to critique and overall enjoy what the field of animation has to offer, I generally put anime higher on my keen interests. Not that manga has any bad artwork at all, of course.

Welcome to Sonic Blast AegisReflector, hope you enjoy your stay! It's cool to see that you like Sonic CD, I like it but it's tied with S3K as my favorite game of all time. I too own a Sega CD model 2 and it still works. Though most of the time I play the beta version of SCD so I can listen to the Japanese soundtrack. :P (More or less it's just a pre-release of the US Sonic CD just with the JPN soundtrack of course...) Sonic Adventure 2 is good as well, just got it not too long ago on my 360. :)

A fan of Raven's, eh? Just so happens that I have the GREATEST love for the Teen Titans animated series! I even have the complete season set on DVD! I would have to pick Starfire as my favorite character (I sort of have a thing for ditzy, redhead characters :P) but Raven would be my close second. Also being a general fan of anything DC Comics has to offer, it really was a great companion to the original stories, mixed in with dat Japanese anime influence (which can sometimes get annoying, seeing as how American animation tries to milk it as much as possible :P) I just hated that they ended the series on a cliffhanger (I still think it was Terra, I mean, how COULDN'T it be?) and I HATE how the new Teen Titans Go! series didn't continue on with the animated storyline. But, whatever, I suppose different generations have to cater to different things.

As for your post, it is VERY rare to see someone have a working Sega CD. Glad we are the fortunate ones! How did you happen to stumble upon the SCD Beta? I probably couldn't stand it because I can't stand the JPN soundtrack lol. I love the US version more because I think it better established the tone of Sonic's universe; a blend of pop and rock rather than cheesy hip-hop. xP

Wait a minute. You... Liked... DBGT? I didn't know ANYONE liked it.

Trust me, I get this a lot.

The reasons why fans got so butthurt over GT is the fact that the first 16 episodes tried to recreate the atmosphere of the original "adventurous, episodic" Dragon Ball series rather than continuing on with DBZ fashion. But, even with this, Toei realized that the homegrown fans in Japan didn't adjust to the change well and decided that the rest of the episodes should be created to comply with the DBZ style of tone and action. Other fan complaints include if GT should be considered canon or not since Akira Toriyama wasn't directly involved with the project (It's listed in the official Dragon Ball franchise guide that it's a legitimate installment that takes place 10 years after DBZ, and since no "accepted canon" DB media has contradicted this so far (The new Battle of Gods movie takes place 2 years after Majin Buu's defeat), you can pretty much confirm it as canon despite raging fanboys claiming otherwise), the inclusion of Pan as a sidekick (Fans find her annoying, I just personally found it disappointing that she didn't turn into a Super Saiyan, since the series basically hinted towards the fact that she might become one), the scenario of Goku being a child again (Which, again, I have no problem with; just seems to be a nitpicky point), power level contradictions (When fighting General Rilldo, Goku states that the General's power level is greater than that of Majin Buu, however, Goku shouldn't be able to detect ki energy within machines/androids/robots and the fact that Goku defeats Rilldo within minutes in his regular kid form while struggling even at SSJ3 form against Majin Buu would prove to be a tad suspicious), and the downplaying of other characters such as Goten and Trunks.

The fact of the matter is that GT wasn't based on the manga, and the creative team was given the chance to something creative and fun with the series that was hindered by the long production process of the manga. Because of this fact, GT has the least inconsistencies and filler. This show wasn't meant to "replace" DBZ, it was to give the fanbase something more light-hearted and fun. The funny thing is that when fans usually list the common idiotic complaints above, they NEVER say anything bad about the SSJ4 transformation or the battle between Omega Shenron where Goku and Vegeta become SSJ4 Gogeta, when I personally thought that the form was highly unnecessary by this point in the series (but the design is kickass). Whether you want to call the show canon or not, it's still highly enjoyable to watch.

But, yeah, I love GT, lol. :P

Ahh, okay. If animation is more your thing, then I can see why you'd prefer the anime. Still, if you're ever low on things to do, I would recommend it. But yeah, both the anime and the manga have their advantages. With the anime, the music certainly stands out as an advantage. The character voices-- although in some cases not necessarily the quality of acting that comes with those voices, mostly with less recurring characters-- are all really fitting too. The manga's advantage is less filler, but this isn't exactly a be-all-and-end-all swaying factor, because I've enjoyed a lot of the more filler-y episodes I've seen in the anime..

Trust me, if Dragon Ball has taught me one thing, it's that anime based on manga tend to have way more filler arcs and unnecessary plot points, but a series needs to have some filler to lighten the mood or to take a break from the action, so nobody really complains. =P

But yeah, I definitely agree with the character voices and music; they really set the mood and atmosphere for the series. I always hated the main opening theme though when it got licensed in America, haha.

Yeah. Dragon Ball is indeed a good example for this. xD; Naruto too, between the first series and Shippuden. With InuYasha, it's conveniently almost all located in Season 6, although there is filler elsewhere in the series too. I can see it being a good mood lightener, though.

By main opening theme, I presume you mean the first opening theme, "Change the World"? It is a... Unique sounding song, I'll say that much for sure. I like it for nostalgia reasons, if nothing else. Honestly, I'm a bigger fan of the closing themes than the opening themes for the most part. "Fukai Mori" and "Every Heart" especially. If I had to name a favourite opening theme, I think I'd go with... "One Day, One Dream" or "I Am."

That said, as the Tijuana Flats (Burrito Company) Manifesto says, among other things... "Don't be a stranger, just be stranger."
Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. You're a Brony, so I'm assuming we've probably met on MLPForums, right? =P I recently retired my Brony license, so to speak, but I'm still a fan of the show and can't wait to see seasons 4 and EG. Other than that, I can't imagine where we would have met before. xP

The box set versions I have only retain the opening theme from the Toonami broadcast when it's license was originally with Geneon (or something like that), and "Change The World" is used during every episode. I usually adore theme songs with my favorite anime but this one just doesn't do it for me. I think later box set editions use the various anime openings and closings though.

I like Doom! I'm also a big fan of Wolfenstein 3D and Quake, good ol' DOS games that never age. I haven't been on the PC gaming scene in a while now though, so besides ordering classic games from Steam, I don't know what the latest crazes are. All I hear about is Everquest or League of Legends lol. And ugh, don't get me started about hockey. =P Thanks for the welcome!

You're into RPGs, eh? I mostly dive into Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Fire Emblem, Kingdom Hearts, or the Mario & Luigi series in order to satisfy my RPG fix. What's your favorite?

I've been remiss in visiting this portion of the site, but I digress. Welcome to the forums, Aegis Reflector. I am Talancir D'Landior ("Tal" is easier to type), and I am one of the old hands here on the site. I hope you enjoy it here.

Sonic CD is one of the few sonic games I'd never been able to play. In the beginning, it was that we couldn't afford to buy the add-on for the Genesis (and therefore not feasible to buy the game), and then later, I could never get a copy on PC or otherwise that would actually work. aside from that game, about the only games I haven't played is Sonic '06 and Sonic and the Secret Rings.

Of what you mentioned, FF7 holds a special place in my heart (and I'm well aware of its status in the eyes of the critics) mostly in part that it was the first RPG I'd ever played. Next after that is FFT for its sheer depth in storytelling.

also, yay anime! NGE, Cowboy Bebop, and FMA are awesome! My favorite animes also include Record of Lodoss War, Last Exile, and Ah! My Goddess!.

Again, welcome to the forums. You will find me primarily in the Role Playing section. Should you browse down there, I hope you enjoy what you see. Toodles!

Wow, more members welcoming me! Thanks ever so much! ^_^

Before I address some posts, a lot of you seem to like to dive into some good old fashioned RP threads. To tell you the truth, I can't stand them. xP So, obviously, I will have to decline on joining them, but thanks for the offers! But if you still wanna have a convo with me, feel free to message me! =D

I believe I got Sonic CD on the Steam service for only $5. Not sure how much it is now, but that's probably the best deal you're gonna get if you want to play it on PC or PS3. And yeah, finding a working Sega CD today is a godsend. If you can find one that works for at least under $20, I would highly advise you buy it. As for Sonic '06 and Secret Rings, you might want to stay far away from them as humanely possible. =P I mean, Sonic '06 isn't THAT horrible of a game when you look past the glitches and load times, but you shouldn't waste your money. And Secret Rings was just implausible.

I'm on the "FF7 is vastly overrated" boat. I mean, it's a really great game, but the only reason why it was so dang popular was because it was really the first Final Fantasy game to be real noticeable outside of the Japanese market (North America and Europe), and was one of the earliest games to implement "true" FMV on a home console. If you look at it now, it hasn't aged well, but the combat system I really like. Personally, I think FF8 is the best installment thus far. The Draw system was very useful, and the way you customized your characters through magic and how monsters leveled up with you made for some real challenge and depth within their development.

I have seen a few episodes of Ah! My Goddess! but I don't think I've ever finished it. I've never seen the other two, though. NGE is probably my favorite anime out of all that I listed, with my favorite character being Asuka Soryu (again, those redheads, man!)

I'm mostly the same way. I lean more towards FF and KH but I still get around into playing other RPGs like Muramasa, Odin Sphere, Shin Megumi Tensei, and Phantasy Star Online.

I just never found GT that entertaining. I didn't care for Kid Goku or Pan like most fans. To me, it just felt hollow. It felt more like a chore to watch than anything. Then again, its been awhile since I've watched it.

Meh, I can somewhat understand. The first 16 episodes were kind of subdued but the series gets way better once you enter the Baby Saga, but that's just me. :P

I got to the Baby saga and that's when I stopped watching, actually. I remember Vegeta being taken over and all that jazz. Can't remember it actually grabbing my attention though. My favorite part of GT had to be Vegeta's mustache. Just because it looked absolutely ridiculous on him.
