Greetings and salutations, fellow Mobians! The name's Aegis and I'm somewhat a fanatic of forums in general, particularly Nintendo and Sony-based ones, but it dawned on me that I have never joined a forum that talked about one of my favorite gaming franchises, Sonic! So, I decided to change that posthaste by stumbling into the BLAST!

My favorite 2D Sonic game is Sonic CD (I even still have a working Sega CD, by some sort of miracle) and my favorite 3D Sonic game is Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, where I still need to get 4 more emblems from the Chao Garden (but ain't nobody got time for dat!)

Other gaming franchises that I'm vastly interested in are Final Fantasy, Super Smash Bros., Mana series, PS1 Crash and Spyro, Darkstalkers (though I'm not very good at it lol), and Puyo Puyo. If you want to talk about them, you've come to the right guy!

I'm also a BIG fan of anime, so I guess I could be considered an Otaku of sorts. Favorite anime of mine include Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Inuyasha, Dragonball/Z/GT, Higurashi: When They Cry, Elfen Lied, and Fullmetal Alchemist. I'm not real big on reading manga, but I do have some volumes of Fruits Basket and Negima which I bought a while back :P

Anyways, that's basically all there is to me! Hope to meet some awesome people here and spread the love of Sonic!

Those are probably my favorite Sonic games too and I have both of them on my PS3. :D Although I might put Sonic 3 & Knuckles a bit higher because I played that as a kid and never played CD until it rereleased for PS3. I'd also like to mention that I have Soap shoes, the same kind of shoes that Sonic wore in Sonic Adventure 2. ^_^ Although not the model his were based off of but they're still fun.

Welcome to the forum!!

The thing with me about ports and remakes is that I tend not to get them out of the respect to the original product. As with such cases of Sonic 1 being released for the GBA, it can be seen as a travesty everywhere to the fans of the awesome classics. :P However, I do have Sonic Mega Collection Plus for PS2 (which is really fun and I like using the PS2 controller better than the Genesis controller) and Sonic CD for Steam (which enhanced the game TWOFOLD; I was really impressed by the way Christian Whitehead handled the remake)

And haha, what a small world! Me and my brother actually had Soap brand shoes as little younglings, but I think it was before the endorsement from Sonic Adventure 2. Don't know what happened to them, we probably threw them out. :P

And thanks for the welcome, Neo! Seems like a swell community to be in!

I agree, I would have the originals out of respect as well but the CD port by Christian Whitehead was just superior on an HDTV and I don't have any of the old systems any more. :\ I wish I had a Genesis though.

As for the shoes, I got them recently. They're just old stock that never got sold in a warehouse that is being sold so they are pretty rare now since they haven't been made in 7 years and haven't been popular since like 2003. Rumor is that they might bring them back by the end of the year.... It's kinda unlikely though.

And thanks, we try to keep it nice here! Hope you enjoy your stay.

I wish I had a Genesis though.
Genesis systems don't cost a lot these days. The local mom and pop store near me that sells retro games have like 10 in stock and they only cost 18 dollars! Then you have those foreign systems that play the 3-in-1 packs (NES, SNES, Genesis) for like 26 dollars but it isn't worth it because of their tendencies to break quite easily. :P (I got a 3-in-1 and the Genesis port wouldn't even work on the first try lol)

If you were interested to buy one, now would be a great time because the pricing on them seems considerably low than that of Super Nintendo or TurboGrafx16.

But hey, I'm just rambling on. I'm just glad I still have my Genesis. My dad wanted to sell it a few years back. NOT BLOODY LIKELY! :annoyed:

If I recall, I think my brother had the skate Soap shoes and I just had rather casual ware. They definitely weren't the design of Sonic's, though.

Oh, hey! New person. And an interesting one, too. x 3

Yami will be glad to hear you like InuYasha. Did you watch the anime or the manga?

And FMA, yes! Did you watch the original series?

Thanks for the welcome, Snake! I watched the entire anime plus the film finale but it has been a while since I've seen an episode. I do have the complete box set somewhere back at home (I'm on campus right now). I first started getting into it by watching the Adult Swim blocks a while back, same deal with Fullmetal Alchemist. I did watch the original FMA in its entirety but I haven't gotten around to watch Brotherhood yet. Both shows are really good with storyline and character personalities. I would suggest them for ANY newcomer to the anime genre.

@Blaire: Thank you so much for the welcome~ ^_^ Community looks great so far!

Oh--forgot to say. You can call me Shapeshiftress/Shiftress/Shift/Trickster/Tricks/Trix. = P

And wow. I'm very impressed. I've yet to get through the first segment of InuYasha, but I'm close. I loved the original FMA, but I haven't gotten around to Brotherhood yet. I guess I've been hesitant because of how much I liked the original's story.

I loved the original FMA, but I haven't gotten around to Brotherhood yet. I guess I've been hesitant because of how much I liked the original's story.
Most fans that I've talked to say that Brotherhood is more faithful to the original manga, and that it doesn't stray off halfway through to create an anime-specific storyline (The original 2003 series started to become it's own vision after Lt. Colonel Hughes is killed by Envy). It's sort of like the Neon Genesis Evangelion scenario where the new movies start out the same as the original production but then halfway through tell a completely different story.

Either way, I'm sure Brotherhood's awesome. I haven't read the manga specifically but if the first series was okay, I don't see how the other can miss either.

Ah, I see. Interesting. Maybe I should give Brotherhood a try after all; or I'll read the manga. ^^ But I loved Hughes. So sad to see him go.

Welcome to the forum, AegisReflector! I am the Yami that Trix spoke of, and as she suggested I'm most pleased to see a fellow InuYasha fan. xD From what you've said it seems you aren't really big on manga, but I would still highly recommend reading the manga of InuYasha if you liked the anime. Short of filler (especially season 6), the anime does the best job of being faithful to the original manga of basically any series I've ever seen. Reading the manga becomes especially advantageous nearer to the end of the series though, both because the artwork gets astoundingly good at that point and because of the lack of filler, and the fact that all the events of The Final Act are a lot less condensed. More stuff happens, with more of it being relevant to the plot, basically.

But yeah, I hope to see you around the forum! Have fun and keep active.

Welcome to Sonic Blast AegisReflector, hope you enjoy your stay! It's cool to see that you like Sonic CD, I like it but it's tied with S3K as my favorite game of all time. I too own a Sega CD model 2 and it still works. Though most of the time I play the beta version of SCD so I can listen to the Japanese soundtrack. :P (More or less it's just a pre-release of the US Sonic CD just with the JPN soundtrack of course...) Sonic Adventure 2 is good as well, just got it not too long ago on my 360. :)
