Rue raised an eyebrow at the look Asher had given her. It was as if she had missed a very important and very obvious point. Now the squirrel was getting confused; what on Mobius did she miss? Scratching her head as she looked around the room at all was going on – Alexei looking around for a way out, Toby seemingly frozen on the spot, Gabe playing some kind of game, all the other activity in the lobby, the young Mobian wracked her brain for a way to figure this out.

So, yeah, Kao. That… that dream of mine came up again the other night. And actually…

Rue’s attention turned to Asher who seemed to be trying to find his tongue in a conversation between himself and Kao. But that wasn’t what had caught the squirrel’s notice. “Dream? What is this about a dream?

Actually went in the cave from the storm this time. And…

Rue’s interest was piqued as the human went into more detail about his dream. And once Asher was done, the squirrel found herself asking;

“So, do you have any idea who this ‘Smith’ guy in your dream was?”

He blinked as he felt Asher shake his shoulder, as if waiting for his roommate's consoling words to register. Everyone around him began talking about the dreams again, which reminded him of the schematics that Ash had been drawing lately. He wondered if they had something to do with his dreams, but as long as Ash didn't tell him about them, he thought that maybe they might be private and he didn't want to probe. But he was curious, and he wanted to help Ash with his troubles somehow.

"Um, I've seen drawings left in our dorm lately." He said when Ash fixed his gaze upon him. "They're related to the dream, right? Maybe if we looked at them, we'd be able to find some answers."

His eyes narrowed in concentration. After a few minutes, he added, "I've been having that dream again too... the one in the cathedral."

And I go on as you get colder

"They don't seem all that related to the dream, though," Asher replied. "I mean, looking at them now, after I've woke up a bit, it's not like they make much sense anyways..." His voice trailed off. An idea had struck him. Nothing he could check out right away; he'd need the sketches in front of him to be sure, but on a hunch, he flipped idly through the leather-bound tome he'd left by his plate. If he could trust his recollection, maybe he could find some common pattern between his sketches and the Book of Ether. If only he could make some kind of sense out of it, too.
"Oh, yeah. Your dream. I'm sure Kao'd like to hear about that one, if you're willing to recap," he added.
Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives. They have no place amongst decent and honest folk.

Alexei struggled a bit against Yo'Chi's embrace, but could not offer up any kind of meaningful resistance without shattering the crowd's surface tension a second time. The only other resistance he offered was an utterance under his breath, likely caught by Yo'Chi. "Robots? Are they all crazy, or just this one?"

Still stuck in the conversation by the massive peacock's embrace, he managed to turn himself away from his chest and towards the group. Silently, he observed. Listened. While he would have to concede a bit of respect to Gabriel's skepticism and classic sci-fi references, he had little regard for this group. They seemed to put entirely too much stock in the supernatural and the unexplained. He was barely resisting the urge to interject and remind them that science has disproven nearly every supernatural claim made. Dreams have no bearing on reality. At least, he certainly hoped they didn't. He shuddered a bit, considering the possibility that his dream last night might be somehow relevant.

Still hugging his new toy fox around the waist, Yo'chi listened to each person in turn. After feeling Alexei shutter in his arms, he had his own chilling revelation. The thought was almost frightening enough to make him shriek in terror and fly for the hills.
His crest feathers raised up. He laughed through the stress, (which thus came put more like a choke): "Heh, heheh, we haven't ALL been having odd recurring dreams lately... have we? I mean, how spooky would that be, right? Ha, ha...right?" He tilted his pretty head to the side, desperate beyond words for someone to disprove his fear, to tell him that his darkest visions were not, in fact, finally coming to pass.
"...right?"

Kao glanced at Gabriel next. Precognitive dreams, huh? She hadn't really considered such a thing, but she couldn't help but feel the story they were unraveling was relevant, foreshadowing, even ominous.

(And really, who hadn't seen enough movies where this sort of thing ended horridly?)

All the same, she listened to Asher's story, ears flicking about as an uncanniness buzzed in the back of her head. Like a new chapter in a novel, Ash's dream had built onto itself, just like... well... just like hers had last night too. And it picked up at the same place, with the same thing. That door...

"Heh, heheh, we haven't ALL been having odd recurring dreams lately... have we?" Yo'chi was still wrapped around the poor fox-guy like a child with a teddy bear, but behind his smile he seemed unsettled enough. "I mean, how spooky would that be, right? Ha, ha...right?"

"It sure seems that way," Kao answered, grinning. She brushed a few locks of hair out of her face and started digging in her own backpack, propped against the couch. "I mean, I have, too.

"Might as well humor ourselves, though, since it seems we have some time." She had, by then, pulled out one of her course notebooks (English 1101, of course) and flipped to an empty page. "Or at least humor me. I love this stuff!"

She clicked a pen and put it to paper:
Kao's Notes

Ash!
- Crazy Snowstorm!
- The Smith: old guy in robes looking for fire in a crazy snowstorm
--- Also wants Ash to make find his tools. What kind of smith doesn't have
- Dark cave with an old chipped door to a forge (or something)
- "I am the Smith. Where are my tools?"
- Ash drew things (irl)

Yo Yo :)
- Robots?
- Fox guy?
- Murder??? :C

Tob ias Toby
- A Cathedral

"Hmm," It was pretty sparing. So far. She circled what she remembered from her own dream.

"So what about your dream?" She stabbed her pen in Toby's direction. "It's in a cathedral, but then what?"

"Ack!" The pen poke didn't bother him much though, considering how much fur he had stuffed under his clothes. He was more than willing to talk about the dream, at least.

"So, it's at the cathedral, and there's people reciting prayers in solemn worship. The grand construction unfolded toward the sky above me, carved in marble and granite and showing reliefs of scenes from the holy Book. But when I looked up, I started getting another asthma attack, and I realized that I left it all the way in my nightstand! I couldn't breathe and I was so scared, but then I felt this icy touch on my shoulder, and suddenly I was fine. Kind of like gulping for air from the surface of an Arctic pool, you know? There was this wispy white chinchilla again with a nimbus of light on her head and wearing a simple shift, and she told me the same thing... 'You must seek the path.' Then the cathedral turned into a grove of trees. I took a deep breath, and I felt all the swirling energies of the world inside me..."

"The dream usually stopped there. I had no idea what the chinchilla was talking about. What did she mean by 'the path?' Anyway, this time, the forest turned into the LoDo buildings. The chinchilla started fading, and she said, 'Yours is the touch that heals. You won’t fail them, will you?' I look away, and then I see shadowy figures fighting. I thought I recognized some of them... one of them had a green scarf around her neck. I staggered and tried to move toward them, but then everything started to fade and I woke up." Toby sighed, and rested his cheeks on his hands. "Sorry if that wasn't very helpful."

Kao's penstrokes kept pace with Toby's words, and she listened to his story and jotted down her notes as easily as she had done in lecture halls the past two semesters:

Kao's Notes (v2)

Ash!
- Crazy Snowstorm!
- The Smith: old guy in robes looking for fire in a crazy snowstorm
--- Also wants Ash to make find his tools. What kind of smith doesn't have
- Act II!
- Dark cave with an old chipped door to a forge (or something)
- "I am the Smith. Where are my tools?"
- Ash drew things (irl)

Yo Yo :)
- Robots?
- Fox guy?
- Murder??? :C

Tob ias Toby
- A Cathedral In a cathedral when suddenly really bad asthma attack
- No inhaler, but a Chinchilla-Angel-Lady heals him
- "You must seek the path" says Chinchilla-Angel-Lady
- Cathedral becomes a forest?.
- Felt the swirling energies of the world/colors of the wind~
- Act II!
- Forest turns into Lo Do
- "Yours is the touch that heals." "You won't fail them, will you?"
- Shadowy figures are fighting, including chick with a green scarf? Super descriptive! :D

The odd feeling of un-canniness that had started buzzing during Asher's blurb had only grown stronger, especially when images of the forest in her dream starting popping up in addition to the old, rusty door. She tapped her pen against the notebook and let her tail flick.

"Hmm," she soon grinned. "It was darn helpful! Spooky, even. I dreamt about an old forest too. And a door. Especially the door, actually. In the forest." She nodded to Ash, before looking back at her notes. Still so thin, and she was rilly trying. "Ummm..."

"What about you, Yo-Y'errr, Yo'Chi? If it had your new-best-friend-you-just-met in it, it's gotta be good, huh? Not to mention, the robots."

"Well, huh.... I guess it's all kind of Hazy... We were in the woods too, actually-my mother was there, I mean, I remember pretty clearly. She said, 'The fates lead the willing, drag the rest!' Pretty ominous, heh, right?" He laughs nervously.
He thinks he can feel himself begin to sweat.
"Then, get this, she points behind me at this loud roaring light thing. I turned, a microphone in my hand, now suddenly I'm on a stage, so obviously I start singing some song , and the crowd eats it up as usual. But then my mom and this huge creepy black bird are on stage with me. My mom says, 'Do you hear it?' Or, I think my mom said it. It might have been the bird or something-- anyway I can hear what she's talking about. It's this... pulse. A distinct rhythmic beat made up of everything... Everyone... It was amazing... and then..." The words which had babbled from the bird's beak slowed for a while, reluctant to leave the wonderful memory of that feeling to re-live what came next.
"I looked at my mother but she had gotten scary, and she pointed again at me with a crooked finger. I think it might have been broken. There was screaming behind me and I turned around but for a while it was just darkness, and this feeling of dread-- but then scary men came out to carry us all away!"
He pauses again, to catch his breath, "that's where I met THIS adorable thing," Yo'chi squeezes the fox for effect, "he was running away from the big mean men, and he bumped right into me! I'd know fur like this anywhere. Anyway, I wake up just before these metal hands reach out to get us. And I just know it was robots out to kill us all! I saved your fluffy tail in the dreamworld, kid!" Thought the anxiety is still causing a quiver in his voice, he smiles like a dope in the direction of his new buddy. "Pretty creepy, right? Ha ha... Don't worry, though, darling, I'll protect you."

Sandopolis Act 2
Asher had been leaning over, taking a peek at Kao's notes as she wrote, now about Yo'chi's dream. Three things stood out to him, only one of which he opted to vocalize. "So bits and pieces of our dreams are all showing up, at least in Kao's... And not to mention there's a common theme: a similar-to-the-dreamer, important individual with something profoundly cryptic to say," he commented idly.
"I mean, yeah, they're just dreams, but at the same time; among four people here? All acquaintances? I mean, Kao, and Yo'chi, we can expect, but me, and Toby? It's not something that can be written off as just coincidence," he finished. He'd only sound dramatic because the subject matter seemed so.
Asher didn't miss Yo'chi's uneasy tone. That was the second thing that stood out. He'd never, and he meant NEVER, knew Yo'chi to be nervous. He'd always been insufferably braggy and confident (with the possible exception of midterms, but Ash had been more focused on his own studies), and to hear him nervous? That nearly set Asher uneasy.
The third thing, though, was just one word, scratched out, in Kao's notes on his own dream. What, he would wonder, would make Kao think I might make the tools for my dream-smith?
Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. Before, Alexei was merely mildly concerned. Belief in the supernatural, however irrational, does not necessarily denote insanity. However, his new friend mentioning having seen him 'in his dream', and recognizing his fur. That is more than cause sufficient to presume this peacock was out of his mind. At least, he hoped this peacock was out of his mind. Otherwise his own nightmares may be connected as well.

"Think I've heard quite enough. Must be going now. Would you mind releasing your grip on me?"

K penned her notes, the original, lighthearted humor of the exercise slowly fading to a nervous curiosity. Like she had to get to the bottom of this mystery but still worried about the big reveal. Yo'chi's yarn had hit closer to home than Asher's or Toby's, and she felt her ears burn and the fur on the back of her neck rise as the singer finished his tale. It didn't help that Yo'chi was audibly shaken, likehe, too, was picking up on the strangeness of the situation and reacting far less coolly about it (though he tried). She wanted to reassure him with a "oh, this is all just coincidince, don't take it seriously!" But the facts were there, and K herself was far from believing as much.

Still.

Ash put to words what she had intended to say, and better. Plus, he brought up a good point about the dream figures. She pulled a highlighter from a bag and got to work editing her notes.

Kao's Notes (v3)

- Fox guy? "The fates lead the willing, drag the rest" says Mrs. Yo's Mom
- Murder??? :C Then Yo's on stage singing at a concert with Mama Yo and a creepy huge creepy black bird
- "Do you hear it?"
- it: the pulse of everyone and everything. Or Rhythmic beat?
- Mama Yo gets all scary
- Concert turns to dark and screaming
- Evil men come out of the dark to do evil things
- Enter Fox Guy
- Evil men with robot hands grab them :C Murder!
- Best concert ever! Those Effects!

Tob ias Toby

No sooner had her buddy finished, though, another voice cropped up.

"Think I've heard quite enough. Must be going now. Would you mind releasing your grip on me?"

Yo'chi's own new buddy was trying very hard to unwrap himself from the peacock's grip.

"Awwh, stay a while longer!" She didn't even know his name, actually. "Uh, Guy? If you were in Yo's dream, we might need you to sort all this out." She clasped her hands together and grinned.

"I'll get you an awesome backpack from the theatre room! 20 pockets, two main compartments, and shiny zippers- and good for, like, ten years!"

Okay, this is getting kinda freaky here.

This was what ran through Rue’s head as she listened to the recollections of others regarding their dreams. The squirrel found this very bizarre – not only were the individual dreams in and of themselves strange, but the fact that all of her friends were having these dreams all at the same time.

Including herself.

It had been going on since she was a child. A strange dream that she would have every once in a while. She hardly ever talked about it, trying to consider it as just an odd dream. But then again, if it was just ‘an odd dream’, it wouldn’t recur near as often as it did; the squirrel seemed to have it at least once or twice a month.

And lately, the dream began to happen more and more, until nearly every night she found herself coming back to that same dream. However, just last night, there was something new at the end…

Rue stepped forward. “You know, all these dreams are very interesting. And,” she lowered her head and shut her eyes, pausing for a moment, waiting to see who was listening. “I’ve been having one of these as well…”

The young squirrel raised her head and opened her eyes again. “It always starts off the same – I’m standing on top of this mountain, looking at the stars of a clear sky through a telescope. At first, it doesn’t seem at all like a dream.

“Above me is the moon, as one would expect. I turn and look up at it. However, when I look back, I discover that I am no longer on the mountain. Instead, I find myself in this vast desert. I start walking along this asphalt street. The air’s really dry, nearly all the moisture around me being sucked out.

She paused for a brief moment, scratching the back of her neck as she let out a small sigh. “And that’s not all. After a while, I eventually come across this giant, rusted steel door, with this sticky note – yes, a sticky note – stuck on it. I walk up to it so I could read what it said; ‘This is the way forward?’ I don’t have time to ponder what this means, as the door suddenly falls down. I look to see three paths. And not only can I see forward, but everywhere at once. I hear a voice; ‘You have a choice.’

“And I, I ask ‘How will I know which is right?’ The answer? ‘You don’t.’ Upon hearing that, I suddenly get this sense of dread. The next thing I know, and this was the new part of my dream last night, dark silhouettes come spilling towards me. My emotions run wild as the voice calls out again, very insistent;

‘You must make a choice!’

“And that’s when I woke up.”

Yo'chi, distressed as he was, completely ignored Alexei's plea until a few moments after rue and had finished speaking. He snapped back into reality like a startled child. "Oh! Yes, you can go, just as soon as you tell us your dream as well. I am so very sorry to keep you, but this is no time for secrets, wouldn't you agree?" The cuddly bird smiled in no particular direction, hoping the friendly guesture would be received by eyes that might believe in it.

"I’ve been having one of these as well…"

"You too?" Kao focused her eyes (and ears) on Rue, then, gripping her pen and notepad and biting her lip. As Rue started retelling her dream, the shewolf got back to work scratching lines onto the paper. All the while the symbols that had linked Kao's, Asher's, Toby's, and Yo'chi's dreams started appearing in Rue's...

Kao's Notes (v4)

Yo Yo :)
- Robots? Yo'chi and Mom are in the woods
- Fox guy? "The fates lead the willing, drag the rest" says Mrs. Yo's Mom
- Murder??? :C Then Yo's on stage singing at a concert with Mama Yo and a creepy huge creepy black bird
- "Do you hear it?"
- it: the pulse of everyone and everything. Or Rhythmic beat?
- Mama Yo gets all scary
- Concert turns to dark and screaming
- Evil men come out of the dark to do evil things
- Enter Fox Guy
- Evil men with robot hands grab them :C Murder!
- Best concert ever! Those Effects!

Tob ias Toby

- Cathedral becomes a forest?.
- Felt the swirling energies of the world/colors of the wind~
- Act II!
- Forest turns into Lo Do
- "Yours is the touch that heals." "You won't fail them, will you?"
- Shadowy figures are fighting, including chick with a green scarf? Super descriptive! :D

Rue
- Starts with Rue on a mountain, looking at the stars with a telescope
- Then a desert with a road paved road
---- Really dry really really dry btw
---- There's a rusty steel door in the middle of the road.
---- Sticky note: "This is the way forward?" then door falls over, 3 paths behind it
- But Rue can see EVERYWHERE D:
- A voice:
---- V: You have a choice.
---- R: How will I know which is right?
---- V: You don't.
- Act II!
- Dark figures heading for Rue! :C
- V: You must make a choice!

Who are these people? K continued biting on her lip as images of the shadowy figures from her dream danced around in her mind and made her fur rise even more than it already had. They had appeared in Toby's, too, and Yo'chi's, and now Rue's. They were clearly bad, shooting fire from their cold, robotic hands, hurting others and fighting and...

... This game wasn't fun anymore. It was downright scary- unsettling, really- and K half-wished she hadn't pulled out her notebook and encouraged it. Surely if these dreams meant anything, they spelled harm or disaster for some or all of them. Fighting robots, at least, didn't sound exactly healthy.

But there was the other half of her that still bit at the situation, and wanted to see it through to the end. If being a wolf of the Wolf Pack meant anything...

... K sighed, and tapped the end of her pen against the paper in a simple beat.

"We should, ah," she grinned, nervously, but grinned none the less. "Okay, I think each of us is equally spooked. Maybe this does mean something, and if it means anything then it means something important. As such...

"I hereby call the first meeting of the We're Probably All Going to Die But To Hell With It! Club. All in attendance, please rise. That includes you, Mr. Exit-Stage-Left." She poked the pen at Alexei, who still hadn't escaped from Yo'chi's grasp. "Really, at this rate you might asphyxiate, the way Yo'chi's gotcha."
