This series is simply looking back at previous Sonic games and seeing how they could be improved. This will be updated with additional parts as time goes on. Game 1: Shadow the Hedgehog Part 1: Setup Now, depending on how you feel about the mission system, there are two seperate ways to set up this game. -Method One: Adventure Style. This would completely overhaul the way the story would work. All of the missions would be done away with. Instead, there would be three different stories: One where Shadow follows Black Arms, one where he follows GUN, and one where he follows Eggman. -Method two: Layered Missions. This organizes the missions so that you can more easily follow one faction. The true dark path follows Black Doom, semi-dark follows Eggman, Neutral and Semi-Hero has him doing his own thing, and true Hero has him going with GUN. Either way, one thing that would need to be put in would be having the AI done better. If you're on the hero side, then GUN won't attack you. If you're with Doom, the Black Arms won't attack you. Also, they actuall will try to take out the enemy. Speaking of which, no missions that involve killing all mooks. Part 2: Gameplay changes These are changes to the gameplay (well duh). Some are large changes, some are small. -(Mission version only) Addition of a map, as well as a minimap and radar. Would greatly help the mission system. -(Mission version only) Different routes through the levels. This would eliminate the instances where you have to kill troops of your own allegance to continue. -(Mission version only) The missions would not require you to look in every nook and cranny for the objectives, as they'd all be on the way to the goal ring. -The guns would have lock-on, as would the rocket launchers and the like. -Vehicles would have improved physics so that they wouldn't be pointless. -Spindash would be back to SA2 levels of goodness -Homing attack would be a bit faster. -There would be only one Chaos meter that fills when you kill an enemy. You can choose whether you want to use Chaos Control or Chaos Blast. -Greater variety of weapons for the Eggman forces. -The Sonic and Diablon boss would replaced with a fight directly against Sonic. Would work similarly to the SA2 fight. -Egg Dealer would be changed into a different boss to make more sense. (Change pending) Part three: Story paths -So, let's see which paths for which story. First, let's assume the "Follow Dr. Eggman route": 1) Westopolis (Always the first level, because why not. At the end, Shadow runs into Dr. Eggman, and decides to follow the guy.) 2) Cryptic Castle (You help Eggman by taking out the aliens as he activates the defense system. Midboss is Heavy Dog.) 3) Casino Park (Here, you fight GUN and take back the place.) 4) Sky Troops (Black Doom starts attacking the Egg Fleet, so you gotta help Eggman by taking out the floating ruins.) 5) Iron Jungle (GUN is attacking Eggman's base again, so Shadow takes the guys out to protect Eggman as he flees back to his main base.) 6) Lava Shelter (Help Eggman repel the final assault against his base. At the end, you fight Sonic.) -Now, let's look at the GUN option: 1) Westopolis (Help GUN take out the Black Arms landing party.) 2) Lethal Highway (Pursue that tank thing and take it out.) 3) Prison Island (Help GUN fight the invaders. Fight Black Bull.) 4) Death Ruins (Fight the Black Arms. You know the drill.) 5) Cosmic Fall (On the way to the Black Comet, stop the Black Arms from taking the ARK) 6) Final Haunt (Final assault on the Black Comet. Final Boss is Black Doom.) -And finally, the Black Arms option: 1) Westopolis (Help the Black Arms fight GUN) 2) Digital Circuit (Try to take out Cyberspace) 3) Sky Troops (Help Black Doom take out the Egg Fleet. Midboss is the Egg Breaker.) 4) The ARK (Take the ARK to use it against the humans) 5) Air Fleet (Attempt to take out the president) 6) GUN Fortress (Attack the final human stronghold. Final boss is Sonic.) This isn't perfect, and still requires work. Feedback would be appreciated. If I do a next part, it'll be story. Edited by FiniteZero, Jun 27 2013, 08:01 AM.

Here's something-Multiplayer Either they exclude it entirely or do something like this- Instead of just having three stages devoting to a crappy two player beat em’ up, how’s about giving more options like racing, Battle royale, ring collection, or co-op. It could work, i'm just saying. |

I haven't played Shadow The Hedgehog, so this is just based on what I know after reading reviews and watching playthroughs. The morality system needs improvement. Why would you come all the way along the hero path, only to side with Black Doom at the end? Also, the story needs to not try to take itself so seriously. I don't mind a more serious storyline, but don't throw in curse words, guns, and expect me to take you seriously. |

It all starts with this... A jewel containing the ultimate power! Every world has its end. I know that's kinda sad, but... That's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have. At least, that's what I figure. -Sonic the Hedgehog | |

How about diversity too? I don't know about you, but I find it not so much fun when my choices are either Shadow, Orange shadow, or one of 4 robo shadows. Personally, how about the choices actually meaning something, instead of just end goals? Especially when some end goals contradict the next level. |

Funny thing is I just bought Shadow the Hedgehog again today because of this topic and well I wanted to own the game again. Honestly the only things that bother me about this game is that the homing attack seems to be off at times, making you jump off the stage and losing a life. I don't know how many times i've lost a life trying to home in on enemies in Iron Jungle... I also think the voice clips are too quiet compared to the sound effects so I find myself having to read the subtitles most of the time... However I do agree with what has been said about the multiplayer, I thought Sonic Adventure 2: Battle's multiplayer sucked that is until I tried out the multiplayer in this game randomly by myself one day. xD Heck even making it to where you race against your opponent would be better, and being able to pick Sonic or other characters that follow you throughout story mode would be better than a whole bunch of different Shadows. :V |

I didn't think Shadow The Hedgehog was too bad aside from the awful storyline and glitchy camera scheme. For the most part, the controls were okay and the gameplay was a breath of fresh air for more "hardcore" players of the series. I just hate when in some instances, you'll be in an area where there will be loads of enemies, and you need to defeat each one to move on. I wouldn't have a problem with this if A) They didn't keep on respawning if you weren't quick enough and B) If the next room you move on HAD THE SAME OBJECTIVE. That's primarily what makes Sonic fun is of the fast paced gameplay, and obviously, that was scaled back a ways in Shadow. Other than that, it's a different direction to Sonic, so radical departures were expected. If you want a challenge or a new side to the franchise, then play it. |
