In today's Nintendo Direct it was revealed that Nintendo has gone into a global partnership with Sega that will mean that the next game in the Sonic series (Titled Lost Worlds) will be released exclusively for the Wii U and 3DS.

Nothing else was revealed about the game apart for the above screenshot.

This one of the reasons I'm purchasing a Wii U. I'm bummed that it isn't being released for the Xbox 360, but I'm glad we're getting a brand new gameplay style after 5 years, even though it does look reminiscent of Mario Galaxy. I haven't played that game, so I can't really complain.

Sorry to keep you waiting!
So... we've got an America wisp, a SPAAAAAACE wisp, and a rhythm game wisp.

Aside from the snarky nicknames, these actually look cool. Eagerly awaiting October 22.

October's going to be a great month, first Pokemon X and Y, now Lost World. I'm so hyped for this it's insane.

Anyway, the new wisps look really cool. I also like the way Drill's done this way. Nice to see the colours announcer returning too!

I'm actually really pleased to see the Wisps making a return in this game. They were my favourite part of Sonic Colours, to the point of actually choosing not to activate Super Sonic when I unlocked the option since it stops you from using Wisps. Nice to see some new powers too. Even if Cosmos is somewhat reminiscent of the Violet Void Wisp from Colours DS.

That combined with what looks like a really fun movement system and gorgeous visuals... dis gon' be a good game~

EDIT: So a friend of mine showed me some screenshots.

Jazzy Slap Bass

Casino Night-esque stage? YES.

Shut up and take my money already, SEGA. I don't even need it.

Well, I'll have to keep my birthday money away from me for a month if I want to buy the game on the release date. This looks GREAT. So wait, I'm seeing that it's been in development since Colours came out? It's been almost three years...? Wow. I'm really hoping that this turns out well.

And it has an E10+ rating? I'm wondering if it's a bit darker than Colours and Generations, in that case. It still looks light-hearted enough, but now I'm curious as to why it got that rating...

Also, does anybody remember if Sonic Colours got this many complaints for being Nintendo exclusive? Because people aren't understanding that this is the most convinient thing for Sega.
It all starts with this... A jewel containing the ultimate power!

Every world has its end. I know that's kinda sad, but... That's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have. At least, that's what I figure.

I do recall seeing a fair amount of complaints over Sonic Colours being a Nintendo exclusive, now that you mention it. Less so than for Lost Worlds, but I think it's fair to say that the reason for this is that there had already been two Nintendo exclusives on the original Wii at that point in time. But, then, Secret Rings and Black Knight weren't exactly 'main games' so I suppose this isn't such a strong argument.

Sweet we get a level based around Casino Night Zone. :3 I wonder what they'll call it though, seeing how it's obvious that Windy Hill is basically Green Hill... :V I've noticed that there are some people complaining about it being Nintendo Exclusive, many of them are fans of the other consoles and they think it's unfair that they can't get the game... Personally I think this is a great thing that Sega has done and I feel that it will bring in some good money. Plus if they had jobs they could just save up to get a Wii U or even a 3DS long before the game comes out...

Based on what we have so far, I am excited for the game! I can't wait until it releases, and that Casino Level looks very cool! I am also excited for the new style of gameplay as well. Can't wait to hear more about this game!

Small news but more news nonetheless. Sega said they were developing Lost World before the Wii U was even revealed, testing it out on the PC. When deciding what platform the game would be best suited, they decided it on the Wii U.

Also, some more comments. They're also hoping to win back oldschool Sonic fans, as the series originally started as a platforming series, but knows some fans might have not like the extra emphasis on speed.

Yes, And it has absolutely nothing to do with Nintendo throwing money at them.

Can't they just do their own thing without fear of what the old school sonic fans will say or do(Which tend to defeat the point)?

Seriously, if they keep emphasizing on getting old school sonic fans back, might as well go all the way with it. No 3D, no story, Sonic and Eggman only...FINAL DESTINATION!....sorry. Felt like doing that joke. XD

But still, its why I tend to be annoyed with Nintendo and how it treats its series. They seem more content with staying in one point in time rather than moving forward. Its stuff like this why I thought of giving up on this series.

But hey, its just a period and all storms blow over(And chances are I'm just being overly dramatic). Besides, I'm curious of what the third game that SEGA is making for Nintendo.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the dialogue here yet. It's said to be pretty dark and was reported over at SSMB. Here are the quotes that are said to be "more dark" than most dialogue from a Sonic game.

"You're going home in a box", "I'm going to skin you alive", "I long for death's cold embrace", "I will get fat from eating your black hearts," "One second you are contemplating genocide," and "As long as I can still strangle a Zeti, my hands are fine."

My favorite is "I long for death's cold embrace", and it's my favorite dialogue from a Sonic game to date actually. I'm not too upset that they added a bit of some dark dialogue in this game, sure beats the curse words they used in Shadow the Hedgehog. :V
