Good vibes.
So, I was playing Shadow the Hedghog (don't ask me why) and I started at Westopolis. I hit the first speed-ramp-launcher-thingy that threw me over the buildings as usual... but the level didn't load past that, so I began falling to infinity. No death, even.

...Go home game. You're drunk.

Those who do good, do...
you know, I know this is possible and although I haven't done it myself, I know a glitch in Sonic Adventure 2 where if you jump into the cage in the Dark Chao world, you might get stuck in the cage...

I had a similar experience but with Sonic '06 (surprise, surprise >_>)
Where in the Sonic's first stage it didn't load the bridge when running from the whale so I hit the boost and boosted into the ocean.
Also on my old Sonic All-Stars Racing: Transformed disk after my XBox360 decided to act like a twat (Though admittingly not completely it's fault) and made a round scratch on the disk.
On some stages, the stage itself and all the characters pretty much became a Red/shades of red and the racing consisted of free falling, respawning and free falling again and so on.

Sonic 3K is full of different glitches, there's actually an Oldbie from Sonic Retro who pretty much documented all the glitches and made videos of all of them too. In fact, in Sonic 3's manual it mentions that the glitches are supposed to be "Robotnik's traps" and that you might have to reset your game if you encounter them. :V I see what you did there Sonic Team... xD

I object to your claims
There is a way to let you play through part of Emerald Coast with Tails.

Here's one that might come up a lot: Picture this, Sonic Unleased, Shamar Day, act 1. I was zooming through the desert when I failed to drift and I hit a wall. However, I never hit the wall. Instead, I floated right through it like it was some sort of cheap poster with a hole behind it. I fell off of the level.

I fell off of THE LEVEL!

That really sucked.

After Tails' first cutscene in the Dreamcast version of SA1, the bridge blocking Emerald Coast wasn't there. So thinking that was Tails' first stage as well, I just walked right up to it and played the level. I can't remember whether I faced that glitch that stops you from completing the level or not, though.
It all starts with this... A jewel containing the ultimate power!

You probably did. Once you get to the second are of Emerald Coast, you spawn far away from the actual level. Bouncing on a spring, you have no choice but to quit (or maybe die from the water surrounding ya?).

Well, I know for a fact that whether I beat the level or not, I didn't restart the level, which is probably something I would do had I encountered the glitch. I know I moved right on to Windy Valley after playing. However, I have yet to find a video of somebody completing the stage as Tails or Knuckles. Damn my picky memory.

Sorry to keep you waiting!
OK, so.

Arid Sands. Daytime.

About halfway through the level, there's a curve leading to a hill(?) of sand. I start drifting around the curve, and I bump into... an invisible wall. There's a god damn INVISIBLE WALL blocking the ONLY path you have in the level.

Yeah. That was fun.

So I was playing Sonic 3 (the Sonic 3 Complete hack, to be exact), and I just beat Marble Garden act 1. The goalpost hit the ground, and a hidden shield monitor popped up. However, the monitor crushed and killed Tails. When act 2 started, Tails didn't respawn. In fact, when I got to the boss, Tails STILL didn't respawn, resulting in me being stuck.

I didn't even know it was possible to kill Tails for good before this.

Oh wow I never had that happen to me before in both vanilla S3k and S3 Complete. I've had Tails randomly spawn in CNZ 2 while playing a Sonic alone game plenty of times though. S3K is a pretty glitchy game though for sure, but many glitches go unseen. I wonder if Tiddles, the guy that made that hack knows about that glitch... Might have to ask him on Sonic Retro later on.

Also during my original run of Sonic Adventure, while playing as Sonic, I find that key in Station Square that I need to bring to Mystic Ruins to open the next stage. I end up (mindlessly) pressing the button to drop it, right between the platform where you get off the train, and the staircase. I tried to pick it up again, but it was in such an awkward place that My Dreamcast couldn't get what I was trying to hold. After about a minute or less, the key disappears completely. It's not by the staircase, not in Sonic's hands, and not back in Station Square where I originally found it. This glitch forced me to restart my game file. ._. Luckily I hadn't gotten far at all with Sonic and Tails at that point, but still...
